There's something special about you talking to the engineers behind various cars. Other journalists can fawn over things but it's almost superficial; you bring a level of knowledge that establishes a rapport with the people who built the car. They say things they wouldn't to other journalists, because they recognize your appreciation for the engineering. It's as engaging as Trade-in Tuesdays with Mad Mike.
This was really great, love these deep dives. Maybe shows my ignorance, but I am surprised by the size of the radiators/intercoolers. Puts the height and size of the grill into perspective
This is quite a feat but the level of complexity of hybrid plus turbo is definitely a drastic departure fron toyotas previous simple and overbuilt mindset. The epa is the reason for this
@@llamaboy64 epa assigns you as a brand a carbon rating where they take your fleet and average out the emissions based on the average gas consumed in each vehicle type per year and they tax you on that. There are scales to this as a car buring 20mpg is weighed much heavier vs a big truck. Nissan must do a cost/value analysis and to them it's worth it vs toyota. Toyota see the future in hybrid tech and is moving towards it. A regular consumers wants are not as important to the companies bottom line and losing a few customers for Toyota is worth it over paying massive carbon taxes to the epa

Love this type of content. Thanks
Dave, Thanks for the in depth deep dive. Is that redundant? So great!
Nice work, good to see the underpinnings a bit more indepth.

So how does the brand new Nissan Frontier having a NA V6 at a lower MSRP when they are subject to the exact same rules?
