What does a humidifier have to do with sleep? A lot, actually! Humidifiers add moisture to the air and when placed in a bedroom, they can help prevent nosebleeds, sore throats, and dry coughs. All things that can keep us up at night and stop us from easily falling back to sleep. What’s not to love?
Well, we've got nothing but love for the Vicks Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier. This humidifier has a 1.2-gallon tank that should run up to 33 hours. It’s designed for a medium-sized room and will work well for kids or adults with virtually no noise.
0:00 Introduction
3:24 - How To Use Vicks Humidifier
7:26 - How to clean a humidifier
One highlight of this humidifier is that there is no filter (as the name suggests!) so cleaning and maintaining are much easier - but still needs to happen weekly.
People also get a good amount of control with this humidifier - they can control how much cool mist is being produced with a simple dial, and there is nozzle at the top where people can control the angle - meaning the cool mist can be pointed in a general direction.
So much to like here! Humidifiers are a great addition to any bedroom because moist air can help promote healthy sleep.
Keep in mind the machine needs to be de-scaled and cleaned weekly and keep it dry when it’s not in use!

My original intention for this humidifier was to use it for plants that require high moisture levels. After using it in my room, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxtD9aJ2m6GU-X1IChQxjn9l31K1A7Kpwj however, I think that's where it is going to stay in the fall and winter season at least. The increased humidity in my room made the room warmer and more comfortable. I had first ran the humidifier for 4 hours with the timer setting for it. After the first hour, I checked my room and can feel the difference. When the full 4 hours was up, I checked again and noticed that the humidifier was shut off as it is suppose to. The moisture level never seem to get passed 56/57%. I then let it run until all the water is used up, which it wasn't all used up. There are still some left in the base that you are not suppose to add water to. I filled up the water tank all the way again, being careful when removing it from the base. Some left over water may spill out. After putting it back on and setting the unit to auto, I let it operate. It didn't stop running, rather I don't know if it did at any point since I didn't check it regularly, for 24 hours after which the water in the tank ran out. The moisture reading never passed 56/57%, which may be a good thing for me. Being situated right next to my bed, the noise was not very noticeable with the occasional water gurgle from time to time as the unit ran.
I’m buying one of these tomorrow. I have horrible allergies and wake up with nasal congestion all the time and get interrupted sleep. I hope this works
Did it help?

The best review ever. Straight to the point and perfectly detailed. Thank you
Thank you for uploading a thorough review, including the maintenance.
Thank you so much i almost gave up until i found this video. Bless you for the help hun! 💜
Wow! Thank you so much. This is by far the best info video I've ever seen.
Just bought mine. Thanks for the easy to understand explanation!!
Great thorough video, thanks:)
No I don't have one but considering it especially during the winter months
Thanks for the video. Just picked this up at Walmart for about fifty dollars. We shall see how it goes. I really like the cleaning ideas.
Just bought this one for my little one with rsv the best humidifier hands down
I like how you emphasized on being cautious and taking care of your humidifier. 🤗For those who live in constant dry heat and are planning on getting a humidifier, starting off with low levels of humidity and slowly increasing can help regulate the levels in your body so it gets use to the humidity. I never owned a humidifier, but my brother had one as a child because he had constant nosebleeds, and it did contribute to helping them stop.
It is so dry where I live this is a great review. I will check this out for sure. Thank you for the great information. :)
Thanks!
fantastic you are!! i am now smarter today than yesterday thanks sooo much stay safe!!!
Thank you posting this video my daughter is sick and you saved me a ton of time
Hope she feels better!
It’s rare to find quality informative content like this 🙏🏼 bravo
These really make a big difference! Keeping mine dry between uses is a huge problem for me. I just can't seem to remember to empty it. The green light didn't bother me though.
I saw a big difference when I had a cold and used one too!
Just bought it this humidifier your explanation is help full ❤thank you
Thank you for that information, great info.
Somewhat helpful. I would like it more if she did more reviews on humidifiers. Turning on the humidifier is good too. I would like to hear how the machine runs during the review. Some humidifiers are too loud or to it’s too much hassle to clean.
Thank you for this review. It is sooooo dry in my house this time of year. Static electricity everywhere - I shock my kitties every time I kiss them. I really need this.
Oh man, that sounds terrible for you and for the kittens! Hope this helps!
Hi, thank you for the review, my mom has sinus and i hope this works for her. Favor, can you please explain the process of cleaning more detailed please. I got confused with the cleaning, it seems that when you add the vinager is unplugged and when you add the clorox you plug it? And also what kind of water you use for each process. Sorry the explanation was a little bit fast for me and i want to make sure when i get it for my mom, i will do the proper cleaning. Thank you. I really appreciate that you are sharing this information with us.
Very nice review. I knew they were good I just didnt know they were this good. Thank you
I was happily surprised too!
Did it helps to blocked and dry nose?
Great review! Thank you so much
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, we have a humidifier in our room. Our room gets very dry in the winter, the humidifier works great for us.
Yes. I have this exact humidifier
Just bought this today for 55 at Wal-Mart. Im using one of the vicks inserts. It's for my 3 year old daughter who has a dry cough at night. So far so good!
Bought mines from Walmart to cause I needed one asap. Is yours only blowing cool mist only? Was hoping it blows warm mist but it isn’t smh
did it help to overcome the dry cough of your child at night?
@Mary_Lee2395 it's a cool mist humidifier....you'd need to purchase a warm mist humidifier if you want it warm. I think having one of each is nice....Warm for winter and then a cool mist for summer.
Where do to put the insert
I came from Philippines with 100% moved in Arizona with 13% Humid, the difference is HUGE!!!! I didn't realize that my nose is bleeding from the dryness and I always get sick which I don't really get too often back in Ph. . It's been a year and I just thought of buying humidifier. ugh! Well, it's never too late
Bought one in Amazon because of YOU.
I bought one yesterday
I have this exact! I just wanna know how many times a week should I clean it ? Like once a week or twice? I also am using distilled water does that make a difference in how many times do you need to clean it?
Great review!!! Thank you :)
I have a cool mist humidifier but I just have the basic Honeywell one without the pad things, I want this one cause it can be better because of the vicks pads that help with sinus issues.
This is Awesome I Just Got One of these From Walmart for $39.86 I Have Bad Allergies and had to have my nose Cauterized for the 2nd Time do to a dry air and heaters and got a Broken Blood Vessel out of it, so I'm Hopeing this Vicks Humidifier Cool Mist Helps me. Thank You for Posting this Video I couldnt Figure out where to put the Water in at.
Why is there Water in the Base?
Very helpful, thanks!
I have a mini dehumidifier not humidifier in my room. My room gets pretty humid in the summer time but its about 45% humidity in the winter time so i don’t really need a humidifier. But if i were to get one i would probably go with something a little more budget friendly even though the Vicks sounds awesome. Great review, very informative👍
Thank you!
Yes I have that one I love it
Love this video
I have a misting humidifier of a different brand. While the humidity improved, I also found that it was adding significant amounts of particulate matter to my indoor air to hazardous levels according to my air quality meter. That was likely due to the tap water I was using, but to use distilled water would be very very expensive. An evaporative humidifier that uses heat doesn't add particulate matter to the air but doesn't humidify quite as evenly as the mister.
I have this humidifier. I like it. I was quite at first but after a while it gets noisy.
I have that same problem
Great video! Thank you so much!!
Glad it was helpful!
I bought this months ago n now using it. I came here to see how you put in the vapor pads. The manual is not clear, n I wish u showed it again, just got a glimpse in the beginning
Just purchased this yesterday. It has really helped as we are trying to get over COVID 🙄🥺
That's so great to hear. I have horrible allergies to the point you'd swear I had the flu but I just have really bad allergy flare ups and I've been told to get one of these to help.
Get better soon. Bless yo🙏🏾
If I use filtered water from my fridge will I be able to skip the cleaning process?
Yes I just bought one thank you 😊
Hope you enjoy it!
I need one that doesn't mold up so quick. I have one but not crazy about it.
How often do you change the vapo pads ?
Should I buy a filter free or filtered vicks humidifier?
What if you don’t use it everyday do you have to take out the water if there’s any I use if one day
Will this unit work for my my small office located at the subbasement. This is where I spend most of time. My office is always dry during these cold days?
Thank you so much!
Just switched my first humidifier on for the first time
how do you clean yours? i have red slime in mines
Wow, great informational video. However, you've been getting ripped off of you've paid $80 for one of these. They have been around for a while now, (years) and I have never paid more than $40 for one. They stay on the shelves at Walmart for that price. It's worked great for us and we just use filtered, tap water. I clean it weekly though which can be a pain and easily forgotten. Sunday evening chore that is totally worth it for the sleep you can get. Especially if you have gas heat in the winter with no humidifier on the unit. I recommend this lil turd for sure. The wife and I like it a lot. We've bought 2 so far.
i pay 40 at walmart really work good
Not everyone shops at Walmart. Some drugs stores sells them for at least 62 bucks...... I don't know about $80. Maybe her price includes the vicks solution.
@@GeorgiaWhisper looks like more people should shop at Walmart then.
do i have to let it dry for 36-48 hours after cleaning? thts what i saw people say but thats such a pain
What? I need it!!
hi I have one of these but the cap on the tank is completely stuck and I have no idea how to open it now
Can we use Poland spring water as opposed to distilled water?
Just bought this yesterday for just under $40 at Walmart👍
What has your experience been like since posting? Looking for one for my mom.
F-You I paid 50!
Yes I have this one
Does letting the mist from humidifier fly on to over face over night bad?
I got it for $40 on amazon
What is the difference between this and the Vicks cool relief humidifier?
I've been using a humidifier for two weeks and I've been sleeping so much better. I use to wake up every night really thirsty and now I sleep through the whole night this is amazing.
What would happen if have a fan next to it?
I have a couple similar to this one and both are from Vicks, the one that you can put the vaporub in was always used for my sons during winter months when they got stuffed up, the other one is more like this one and was expensive and did the cool mist but we just never used it all that much. Might go dig it back out to compare to the one you just reviewed. I might be remembering completely wrong lol
This can only be plugged into the wall unit??
Why does it leak at the bottom? I was carrying it to remove the water and it was leaking at the very bottom. It was annoying.
Thank you
I’m confuse why mine isn’t blowing warm air/mist. It’s only blowing cold mist which isn’t really helping me. Any solutions?
I don’t think i need this as i live in humid Ass Texas buuuuut i love learning stuff form y’all. I’d totally recommend this to my friend in Arizona
Sleep nakeed sweetie
Wayne Brady 2 thanks Wayne Brady, i love receiving advice from you
@@katiriaandrea was that humor or sarcasm Kat?
Wayne Brady 2 yes
I am sorry but again the air coming out is cold? Or hot? Sorry if it is a silly question but asking is best. I have life brand cool mist hunidifier, it feels cold when i put my hand close to it. !But i can not see any air coming out. Not sure if it works fine. Any help?
I have a PC desktop in my room. Do you think it's not advisable to have a humidifier because of it?
Do I still keep my fan on the lowest?
For some reason I bought mines a few days ago and plugged it last night but for some reason No mist is coming out don’t know if this is Normal plz help.
@6:02 “I hate seeing that night at light” :)
Nice review though
Great video. For anyone who is thinking about purchasing this, it's $39.99 at Walmart as of 8/2021. Tip: there's a coupon inside for your "next purchase". Do what I did- open the lid of the box and grab that coupon to use right then and there! I did it at self checkout in front of an employee and no one said anything. Saved just $1.50 , but hey it's something. Much love to everyone and good vibes 😊
Thank you -
But how do you refill the tank without spilling water all over the place? My wife and I thought ours was great until we needed to fill it up again.
I have this one. My handles are on each side though. It's basically stopped my coughing.
Great video pretty lady just got one today thanks
Why is there Water in the Base After Use is that Normal or Not Normal? Thanks
Does vaposteam go in this as well?
I do have one but my is leaking from the bottom. I think add way too much water
Just bought one ( filter free cool mist
I have one but it's really old and It runs slow
Can I use tap for water?
can i use it for nebuliser? how? and how ?
I have some generic walmart brand humidifier that doesn't have a vicks pad slot or anything like that.
Can I just put some vapo rub in the little directional nob on the top so that when the mist comes out it'll hit the capo rub?
Especially now since we are going into winter I often wake up with a very congested nose and I do not want to buy a whole new unit...
When cleaning/disinfecting, you don't run the machine to get the solution throughout it entirely?
Thanks😁 i just got my cool mist i thought i had to use the vicks pads everytime i was just about to order a few more pads but thanks to your review i now know understand how it really works 👍#caribbeangirl
Pads never need to be wasted unless damaged. You can take the used pads and soak them in any vaporizer liquid until they are saturated. Then let them dry before using. These pads will work as well if not better than the regular ones if soaked properly. I have been doing this for the last 2 years without having to buy new pads. Save your money! BTW my humidifier only uses 1 pad(it depends on what type humidifier you buy). I purchased 2 boxes of 5 each pads on line to get started.
Can you add essential oils with this one?
All I am looking for in humidifioer reviews is how noisy it is when it's running.
The only time you show the machine actually turned on there is no audio. :)
Yes I have one
Can I use this on the floor??
Do you use essential oils with this humidifier?
Ty!!
Can this help with dry mouth?
I just bought one but for some reason the green light doesn’t turn on
