Discount on items is not beared by Zomato or Swiggy. It is the restaurant that pays for it. I have 6 outlets registered on both zomato and swiggy and before registering them, I used to think the same that Swiggy and Zomato pays for the discount
It gives discount to some restaurants which are very famous and have capacity to supply faster .discounts of 50-60%, so for customer it is less price compared to take away or dining at that restaurant. And also chains like KFC, Mc Donald's swiggy, zomato gives discounts

I decreased my online deliveries and if I have plan to eat out or get it to home, I will go to resto order it and come back in 20 or 25mins alot of money saved. Recently in few of my orders they charged me 85% of total order value as delivery charge.125order value 115 delivery charge.
The restaurants are packing less quantity in Zomato and Swiggy Orders as they give a discount/commission to these food apps so they reduce the quantity to maintain profits. If you can go to nearby restaurant for packing don’t go for these Online Apps as you will end up being cheated in one way or other.
A solution which might be useful is that they partner with food industries like kfc and Domino's and open online exclusive stores(cloud kitchens) in those areas where these don't exist like tier-2 cities

Profitable for how long? Their business model isn't sustainable, no one wants to order from zomato because of how expensive it is, and anyone can replicate it. They bring nothing unique to the table.

Every restaurant I see the price on Zomato is twice higher than what is there on the offline menu card, or the quantity is much lesser because the Zomato charges a hefty amount of commission from the restaurant, plus you have to pay additional delivery charges. ever since i wouldn't order on Zomato or swiggy unless it's the last option left.

I don't understand, zomato or swiggy in a order takes money from customers+hefty delivery charges, restaurant commissions+ advertisement(optional). So they're earning from both sides. Why still they're not profitable. Rather loses are increasing! Though they're PAT profitable now.
Most of the local eateries have started their own delivery services and they deliver food in a 2-3 kilometer radius from where they are located. they don't have the fancy packaging but they offer the value for money. This was also being done before these apps were even around.

The structures of City and Society have huge impact. Meituan operates mainly in Metro's. China is aging and Singles. When u are alone, you dont cook. Your order and as China ages more Meituan will also go down. the real competition for all these companies is growing free time of people, and awareness to eat fresh at home. Colud kitchen never become profitable because here big companies competition is with house wife's who are doing tiffen services. She is only focus on their 1km radius and they are in thousands in numbers. Their customer is repeatable
I think the cost cutting and out lets are more important so the petrol prices could be cut down by battery scooty as seen in shark tank and the out lets should be more increasing the quality not big restaurants but small near by restaurants as per the customers

in reality they charge much more , restaurants need to mark up the price upto 70 percent more due to the commission. for example if the item is 100 then we have to make it 170. then they offer discounts of 20 rs which drops the revenue to 150 and them they charge around 35 percent incl of tax , the hotel gets 94 rs. so no way to sell at actuall prices u will at max get the food at 40 percent more than the actual price and then pay delivery charge on that.

I don't think the issue is raised correctly, I have done the analysis myself. The normal pizza if you go directly costs 90 Rs. But the same is listed at 119 Rs. in Zomoto. And over and above they are costing for delivery charges. Delivery charges are not an issue but the initial cost is already infiltrated. I think Government and local bodies should look into this issue

I don't understand, zomato or swiggy in a order takes money from customers+hefty delivery charges, restaurant commissions+ advertisement(optional). So they're earning from both sides. Why still they're not profitable. Rather loses are increasing! Though they're PAT profitable now.

Most of the local eateries have started their own delivery services and they deliver food in a 2-3 kilometer radius from where they are located. they don't have the fancy packaging but they offer the value for money. This was also being done before these apps were even around.

For door customers i gave thali for 100/- on swiggy and zomato i give 100/- but swiggy charge 30% commissions and Zomato charge 28% and they dont pay us on daily bases but weekly and if we have to increase prices we looses our customers.😢

Your order and as China ages more Meituan will also go down. the real competition for all these companies is growing free time of people, and awareness to eat fresh at home. Grocery delivery might survive. But there again, as AI makes us more free, we will socialize more in real and rather visit a Baniya shop nearby. All in all cloud kitchens are under dark clouds and these aggregators are exaggerated.

I think the cost cutting and out lets are more important so the petrol prices could be cut down by battery scooty as seen in shark tank and the out lets should be more increasing the quality not big restaurants but small near by restaurants as per the customers
Ultimate Goal of Zomato & Swiggy is to replace most restaurants with cloud kitchens. Restaurants are not solely dependent on these apps for their business. Cloud Kitchens don't have front end to sell directly to customers they depend solely on these apps. And these platforms even have their own ready made cloud kitchens. They supply raw materials too. And they can ultimately bring multiple brands under one roof with their cloud kitchen.

in reality they charge much more , restaurants need to mark up the price upto 70 percent more due to the commission.
for example if the item is 100 then we have to make it 170.
then they offer discounts of 20 rs
which drops the revenue to 150
and them they charge around 35 percent incl of tax ,
the hotel gets 94 rs.
so no way to sell at actuall prices u will at max get the food at 40 percent more than the actual price and then pay delivery charge on that.

I notice that in my area one plate food in restrorant price is 120. And i search on swiggy i got 60% off coupan. Same food that i got offline 120, online i got in 110.
Resto give him in food price 110 +22 delivery boy fees + anybody cancel order after 10 mints food totaly waste and swiggy loss that ammount and food is free for delivery boy .

I don't think the issue is raised correctly, I have done the analysis myself. The normal pizza if you go directly costs 90 Rs. But the same is listed at 119 Rs. in Zomoto. And over and above they are costing for delivery charges. Delivery charges are not an issue but the initial cost is already infiltrated.
I think Government and local bodies should look into this issue

At present they has to make thali at rs. 100/- to 150/- (as per city or requment)
And other options prepaid delivery from super market or another offer step v step delivery online products same time (same day) many products need to go service center like bike schooty (two wheeler company) take to service center and Bering from service center bill direct pay to service center by coustomer and you take 200/- one side
If any problems then Bering back you get 400/- both side and tie up with two wheeler company he provide commission on bill even more when parts change
Many people unable to go service center that way they make in local and coupon in service book in with you get 100/- (approx)
Many services center provide but not properly or take as no only
And service center get new coustomer
Over all believe in commission
