Bless you! We will celebrate 43 years of marriage this July. My husband is my rock and strength, he reflects God's love back to me daily. Our youngest son was headed home from college and had a head-on collision, ten years ago, and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. He hasn't spoken a word or had purposeful movement until last month, when he suddenly said Mom!

I work at a Whataburger in Arizona and Charley comes in quite oftenly and I always sing him this song when he walks in he smiles so big and he says " Thank you Hunter", hes honestly the funniest man you will ever meet and he always gets a small vanilla shake when he comes in nothing else. I always look in the front when I am working hoping to see him once again and I get so excited everytime he walks in, I am sadly the only one who knows who Mr. Pride is and even most customers dont recognize the legendary singer among them. Long live Charley Pride!!!

I was a little white boy from Boston ,mass in the 60s Charley Pride was the first country singer I ever listened to and never knew he was a black man til I grew up one of the most beautiful voices ever RIP Great Man love your music know every word of every song

a Black man trying to make it in Country music in the 1960's... that takes guts and fortitude...it also took vision for him to understand hs vocal style was better for country than pop or R & B...
no one can say he did not deserve every thing he earned.

R.I.P. Charley Pride. As a kid growing up in Sunny Southern California in the 60’s & 70’s, nearly all of my friends, cousins and siblings were listening to Rock music, i.e. Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones and of course the Beatles. My parents were HUGE fans of Country Western music, and adored Charley Pride, which totally rubbed off onto me. My very first concert was circa 1971-1972 in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center with my parents and yes it was Charley Pride. After that first concert, I’ve proudly seen Charley perform at least 25 more times, and to this very day, in my opinion, he was by far and away the greatest male Country Western vocalist of all time..period, it’s not even close. God rest your soul Charley, and may he bring comfort to your grieving family.

I covered this song for years in a C&W band I played with. I had the chance to meet Mr. Pride in Billings, Montana years ago while he was performing at the Yellowstone Exhibition (I was performing with another act). He was a warm, wonderful human being. Remember listening to his music in our house as a kid, as my dad loved his singing. I also remember how we, in Montana, felt that he was one of our own as he lived and worked there for a number of years while playing minor league and semi-pro baseball and playing nights with his band, the Night Hawks, in towns around Montana. RIP dear Sir.

This was probably the first song I ever learned to sing, back when I was a little boy in 1968. I didn't understand all the words but thought it was cool. We lived in Shreveport LA at the time..and were about to move to San Antonio!
In 2009, the wife and I were driving to the Fiesta Bowl to see Texas beat Ohio State. On the way I turned on the local country music oldies station. This song was playing. We were going to Phoenix, Arizona!

Was in Nam in 70 - we use to sing along with Snakes Crawl at Night and this song as loud as we could - made the tour go by faster and for a couple of minutes so we could forget about the war that was raging all around us - Mr. Pride - may you rest in peace - thank you for the your wonderful music and your GREAT VOICE!
