Yes they have a strong friendship, and it's nice for Jane to wake up with her best friend there. I also like the line about how she still wants to be there a little longer despite the phone call that she needs to get back to work. She sees Jane as her priority in these moments.

How sad that two of the most articulate women characters on tv could not discuss the sadness and grief of miscarriage. If you have friends who miscarry, help them to talk about it, even if it means they cry a lot and you feel lost for words. Tell them you don't know what to say, tell them it's ok to talk about the baby, tell them you will hear their anger and sadness without turning away.

Miscarriage is an AWFUL, horrible thing... but since this is a tv show and Jane is a fictional character, I have to say I'm relieved she won't be having Casey's baby. I HATE Casey!!! The thought that Jane would be forever tied to that douche bag makes me cringe. I wouldn't be happy with Jane being pregnant at all, but if she has to be... please let it be with someone who isn't Casey!

Point is, Maura and Jane aren't lesbians. They're best friends, practically sisters. Even Jane's mother and brothers see Maura as part of their family.

Like has this series anything to do with the books, because I can‘t decide if I should watch it or not.
I think there are SOME things that the show has that are from the books, but the show is mostly loosely based on the characters from the books and not the storyline. But the show is amazing, and it's definitely worth watching if you like crime shows and sit-coms. This show is the perfect blend of both!

I just think that this kind of series - that keeps promising lesbian affair and shoots them holding hands , in jealous situations, etc - encouraging people to see them as a gay couple and then delivering straight woman, are soooooooo deceptive and dishonest with lesbian spectator...
Um... They're not meant to be lesbians. They're best friends, practically sisters. This is exactly how I act with my own female best friend, and we most definitely do not have ANY sexual attraction towards one another. We are sisters. We came from different people, but we are family.
I like the eye contact they have, and despite the tough situation they can still have some humor.
