Ooh when Jamie says, he’ll beg….. 😭😭😭😭 I went straight back to season 1 also. Because he loved her, and when she came back to him by choice you could see how complete he was. She is his home, oh man it’s intense. 😭😍
So interesting that Claire told Rachel she was afraid because she knew Jamie would go beyond the call of duty and get killed, when in reality that is exactly what SHE did!!
I cried through the beginning of this episode when Jamie is waiting to go into battle and he and Claire are talking. And then again at the end when Claire is shot, even though I know what the outcome is since I've read the books. Another great episode!
Thank you, Jenn, for a thorough, well-thought-out, insightful and emotionally honest review of Episode 15. I really look forward to your reviews each week. You're the best!
You are so sweet and so bright and so kind. Thank you for taking the time to do this really thoroughly. Enjoy being with you like you're my friend. greatly appreciate you.
Wow, what a journey we’re on with the Book Refuge Jen. Your critique and review has stretched my understanding, and comprehension and has left me mum in a good way. Your knowledge both of Dianna Gabaldon’s books, and the TV series is most gratifying to me so please keep doing what you do because you’re very talented at it. Thank sincerely, and I’m looking forward to your next reviews and critiques of both Outlander books and the tv series. Stay awesome 🥰😊
Look at that painting of the Battle of Momouth again!! On the right next to the canon is General James Fraser! And bottom left is Claire in her headscarf tending to fallen soldiers!! I wonder if Frank recognized who he was seeing!
@@TheBookRefuge I didn’t see anything but Frank & Bree the first time I watched. On my second watch I noticed Jamie and paused to see if maybe Claire was there and she was!
Oh he knew, he knew for sure..he knew Claire went back to Jamie and he had evidence and he never told her. There’s a lot that Frank kept from Claire about her time in the past with Jamie.
Haha! Yes, so I've been told. I was so distracted by Frank's head, I didn't even look. I'm a goof! I also had only watched it once before filming this time, I will rewatch this week before the final episode, for sure!
Such a good recap and explanation. I remember while reading the book, back when it was first released, long before the show, that the Roger and Bree situation was very confusing. You have done such a good explanation and recap. I love your recaps!!!!
Hahaha... YES, LJG, hella sexy! I was very conscience of it while he was talking with William and I had to rewind that scene, being too distracted the first time through. lol! Since Bree does not go to the US this time, I think she needs to go back to Lallybroch to tie up her loose ends, and grab their old-timy clothes. But I agree that it's weird to see her there right after the gun fight.. she might have run in and run out, not sat around, flipping through books. I missed the blue-light healing stuff with Buck & Roger and Hector what's-his-name. Makes me wonder if the blue light will still show up in that battle on the mountain later... then again... R & B are still in 1739, and I heard some talk of Master Raymond making an appearance in S7, only one ep. left, so if that's true, maybe Hector will be replaced with M Raymond...??? Yeah, also wondering if Frank's letter will show up a bit later.. she probably is taking that book with her to the past...???
Yeah.. I don't think they'll do anything about Roger's throat. He's not still held back by it in the show. 🤷♀️ It hasn't been mentioned in 2 seasons, and he's not missing singing in the show. So, I suspect Bree and the kids will arrive, she gets to meet Brian and then they'll head to America.
I absolutely love watching these videos:) You do such a thorough job...I love it! I know you've had some complaints about mistakes but please don't be bothered by them. I don't know anyone else doing reactions/recaps that does it as good as you. This episode was so incredibly good. I'm already starting to think about the withdrawal coming during droughtlander... I know it's a dirty word. Anyway, I really had nothing to say other than Thank you for all the work you put into these videos:)
Well thank you for the kind words! 🥰🥰 I try not to let it bug me. I'm usually good, because I know fans just want everyone to know what they know. I'm the same. Hahaha! Some days it just feels like a pile on, of everyone does it. But at least it's rarely snarky. I just get touchy some times. Hahha!
Sam Heughan in this episode was just everything! I think Sam has always been great at playing Jamie and he’s had some amazing scenes and lines but this, THIS…. OMG all the way through, it was just something else. Sam delivered those lines man, OMG I was balling! I think it’s fair to say that even if viewers haven’t read the books it’s obvious Claire isn’t going to die, but they did such a great job with this that the tension is really there, oh my goodness Jamie, he was just so good! Oh Lord John, oof I would snap his back like a glow stick! His is so good, his chat with William and standing there with the patch and the coat… the coat, just take me John 😂🤣 I think this is my favourite of this season so far. Definitely one of my favourite episodes since season 5 and I think one of my all time favourites since the start. I also had similar thoughts about the time travelling and how it affects the body, since Buck is really suffering with his heart. I think if/when we get Master Raymond story we may learn more about it.
Lord John...what a hero. I know everyone's favorite hero is Jamie Fraser. But Lord John is definitely mine. He was so dashing, and handsome , that eyepatch.....when he pulled the pistols, I thought, boy, what a dude. He should have his own spin-off. David Berry rocks the stage on a completely different level. No wonder Diana dedicated bonus books for him.
He was excellent! Truly, I hope David Berry gets some good stuff out of this. I watched him in an Australian soap opera type show once he was announced as Lord John. But that's all I've seen.
The fella that helps Roger & Buck is Hector McEwan not McGowan. I agree it was a bit weird to send Bree back to Lallybroch to find the letter from Roger after the shoot-out. I remember in the book she goes to the US with the kids and then comes back, is it then when she finds the letter?
She gets forwarded the letter by Joe Abernathy in the US. She goes to the US, puts Lallybrock up for rent. She is already preparing to go after Roger with the kids. But shes wsitkng til Winter Solstice. One of the tenants of Lallybrock takes apart the desk to move it and finds the letter. Which got sent to Joe, because he's her contact. Then he forwarded it to her, which let's her know the time period Roger is actually in. So yeah.. the show made it much more simple. 🤣🤣
ok I'm at 6:25 now, and I have to add it made me happy that they included a nod to Frank in this episode, even if it was a bit of a tease, because even though they weren't able to follow that part of the storyline, at least they felt it was important enough to make reference to him, for us book lovers
Yes it was! I was sobbing and then the screen went to black and I was like WHAT!?!?!??! Oh man Jenn! I am still finishing reading Echo in the Bone... so I am behind reading-wise : )
Girl... me too. hahahaha! I probably won't completely finish my reread. Oppsie! I just have a LOT going on. But also, it feels like an "Echo" if you will, of the season we just watched. haha!
Loved your recap and when Sam delivered his last few lines “dinna go from me, this time I’ll beg…” loved it in the book and Sam delivered it perfectly❤ I don’t think Jenny will be in the last ep but I’m 30/70 that she’ll be in s8. I’m bummed about Frank’s letter missing and Hector not healing Roger and Buck. I also thought the Buck convo on your all my family could have been cut (liked it but so many other things). Overall though it was an amazing ep and Sam was fantastic❤ Ty for your review!!!
Great thoughts. Yes, when there is so much to cram in, we don't have room for those little things. Give me more Brianna or someone else. I don't need to see them drinking and reminiscing. haha!
Hi Jenn. Sadly Outlander is not on this week. 😥 They just like torturing us. 🙄 I agree with you about Brianna casually being back at Lallybroch after the shootout.🤔 I was really hoping they would show Joe Abernathy at this point. He tremendously helped Brianna in the book. I can't believe we only have one more episode to go before Droughtlander. 😭 I listened to your Book Club Reading and loved it.💚 I will be re-reading "Written in my own Heart's blood" before February 23.😊 Thank you so much for your passion and love for Outlander. 💚💚
I really loved when Rachel realised that she could lose Ian. And then the moment with lord John and William when he tells him "You are my son". Also i completely agree with you that lord John is 🥵! I really missed that we didn't get Frank's letter. And i thought that i would tear up at least a little bit with Claire getting shot but i didn't. Maybe because I knew the outcome. But Sam was phenomenal right?
RIGHT?! He was epic. I actually haven't cried too much this season when watching. Because I am so invested that I am just focused. I cry more in these reviews and when rereading. haha! But it's so well done.
She is much more selfless than she thinks she is. But I guess she sees it as her oath? Anyway, she's a badass!
@ love her so much!
I cried through the beginning of this episode when Jamie is waiting to go into battle and he and Claire are talking. And then again at the end when Claire is shot, even though I know what the outcome is since I've read the books. Another great episode!

I'm 100% sure that Frank knew. I wondered if Bree would recognise her mother, or remember that moment later in her life.
Oh he knew, he knew for sure..he knew Claire went back to Jamie and he had evidence and he never told her. There’s a lot that Frank kept from Claire about her time in the past with Jamie.
@ I know right!! I’d love to see more inside his head.
Yay! So good to be with you. You must go back and look at the portrait in the title card closer. 2 beautiful Easter eggs.
Haha! Yes, so I've been told. I was so distracted by Frank's head, I didn't even look. I'm a goof! I also had only watched it once before filming this time, I will rewatch this week before the final episode, for sure!
What’s the easter eggs if you don’t mind telling me? I missed it 😅😅
Jamie and Claire are in the portrait during the title card.
Yes what a great Easter egg! But the fact is He knew, he knew she went back and he didn’t tell her! And he took Bree there with him.

"The Soul of a Rebel" by Franklin W. Randall is featured in BEES.

I wish for Jenny to be there for Ian and for later with Ian and Rachel
