just looked it up , $17 to go over the GWB from the palisades parkway . when i left NY in 99, and was back and forth through 2004 , but it was $4 to $6 . pricing is already wild. NY really needs some check because there's no way with all that traffic paying that much , there is or should be reason for infrastructure issues. People are pocketing $ , and then they contract to people they know and get kickbacks through the contracts. wild how abusive NYC is and how NYS allows it.
*should also be pointed out that cars are by far the most expensive mode of transportation, regardless of tolls. Just fuel, maintenance, depreciation, etc. however, this also helps decongest the roads for commercial use as well
@Sentryalmighty its easy to say that, but thats not reality..what about the people that dont live near rail lines near their home or work? Are you gonna build rail lines for those people? What about low income ppl that have to communte from low cost far distance housing to their jobs in the city? What about the small business cater that has to transport 200lbs worth of food and equipment to there business event?
@@mikec9155 so what you're pointing out is car dependency. And I understand the fact that the infrastructure in the US is geared heavily to cars and trucks. But objectively speaking, cars are the most expensive. You have to buy a car (or rent) you will not get your money back on that car, you have to pay insurance, you have to pay to maintain, you have to pay for gas, and on top of that you have to pay taxes to maintain the roads, traffic signals, and other things that make driving a car remotely safe. And yes, I would like to build more commuter rail across the US and Canada, the system is greatly neglected, yes the rurals are unlikely to get much rail service, but hey busses exist, cars too
Tbh ima get that motorized plate cover when I past 60th I’ll be damned to pay anything to get around the city I lived in for 35yrs. And if I’m not mistaken they don’t have the camera on the west side highway by 59th so you can ease in from that side , I could be wrong though I gotta drive by that area again.
Lieber raked in $400,999 last year from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, more than the US president and almost as much as Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams were paid combined
Difference is that , you literally cannot get into NYC without paying a toll, and now you wont be able to get from queens or Brooklyn (where most people live) to manhattan for free.
Governor Kathy Hochul’s decision to impose a congestion pricing tax on New York City, beginning in January 2025, will impose a significant financial burden, costing families and individuals who enter Manhattan nearly $200 a month. This policy, overwhelmingly opposed by Manhattan residents, threatens not only the livelihood of New Yorkers but the political future of the Democratic Party in New York. In 2020, President Biden secured the state with 61% of the vote, a margin that eroded in 2024 when Kamala Harris won by a narrower 56% to 44% against Trump. This trend underscores a growing discontent that could culminate in a shift of New York’s crucial electoral votes to the Republican Party in 2028. Unless Governor Hochul urgently calls for a referendum on this tax, she risks being remembered as the governor who handed New York to the Republicans, and with it, the presidency.
The people who think this a good idea dont drive, and don't understand the higher toll will lead to higher shipping costs and increased pricing. Also Boston's subway system is absolutely trash lol. NYC definitely has best transit system of US . This just yet another cash grab.
Yeah, I think that’s all a bunch of bullshit. I already paid too much for my tags I live in Illinois pay $200 per year per tag. They better not start doing that here. People are gonna be pissed.
Yeah, it should be expensive to drive in NYC. Yes, you should have to pay to maintain that infrastructure if you use it, no matter where you live. Driving is very expensive, you just aren't doing the math. Now the city is doing it for you and it sucks.
Yep! Tolls on all bridges 🤦🏾♂️. Manhattan bridge, the Willy B, 59th street bridge, bklyn bridge, 3rd Ave bridge in the Bronx/manhattan. All bridges that connect to Manhattan.

Its basically designed to make poor ppl drive less or take the train, so rich ppl will have less traffic.

MTA boss Janno Lieber’s $400K pay - more than the US president’s salary - slammed amid congestion toll fight
They have toll roads and lanes in Texas as well.I just dont take them.

Vote Democrat 🗳!!!
NYC is ridiculous always beating on the working class. They can’t even get people to pay there train and bus fare but want drivers to pay this.
What do you know about the possible Honda nissan merge? Maybe a good video topic

They pay $8 in Arizona 😂 $10 in Louisiana and in Georgia the $20...Most states are $30-40.
