The stamped impression looks like “Good Luck” to me :) What beautiful feathers! I have discovered (rediscovered?) fountain pens this year, I think all nibs are so interesting, but yours are especially so. Enjoy! There are fountain pen inks that are waterproof if you want to different colors, but I love your black and white creation! I love kitties!
The nib with the rounded ball on the end is a fountain pen nib. They are very smooth to write with because of that ball, which is an improvement on the pointy nibs.
I couldn't do a SINGLE prompt this month because my wrist has been acting up/hurting. I am in matching outfits with my cat for Halloween though so the month isn't a total bust (plus those prompts are good all year for inspiration).
I think the cat and mushroom drawing is my favorite one out of every drawing you have done lately. It's so esthetically pleasing! Also I like that u are trying products that u aren't used to using. It makes it feel less intimidating for me to try out. Thank you, keep up the great content!
Beautiful art pieces ! Working with dip pens is so satisfying :) A color book with cats and mushrooms ... oh yess please !!! Thank you so much for the amazing Kattober ! I had so much inspiration and lots of fun drawing/painting cats the past month. Sad it’s over but hope you’ll bring it back next year !
holding the candle so the fire burns up towards the wax actually hinders the combustion and can even put it out. just from my own candle experiences. parallel flame is fine and downward flame is fine but upward flame doesnt like to be done.
Love the art! Also Sally's little peets are the cutest! I really liked the last pen the best, if it had the black feather it would have been perfect for me. So glad to hear that you'll be doing more vlogs for those of us that enjoy them, it's a nice change of pace.
I guess you could try wooden Quill pens...like the ones my grandpa used for drawing. They're very pleasing to work with. The mushroom cat is my favorite 🤩
All the birds shed their feathers every once in a while(every 1-2 years), feathers look good after that if the bird doesn't chew on them or the feathers weren't damaged before shedding, so I don't think any bird was damaged to make these pens.
Lovely artworks. Dressing up as witches during Easter is also Finnish tradition. ^^ Celebrating Halloween is still on it's way and it's kind of interesting to see Halloween decorations increasing little by little year after year on stores. There is kind of like three Halloweens in Finland, as there is Easter with ( good ) blessing witches, first of may which many celebrate and usually with costume parties, especially child families... and some adults also. And then newest of the bunch the actual Halloween.Traditionally Finns have had this "saint men's day" and it's been pretty serious celebration which has involved visiting the graves of family and friends and lighting up candles to their graves.
Yes I totally relate to the pointy dip pen nibs catching onto the paper! I will have to look for a more rounded type one next time I’m at my local art store, they sell a bunch of nibs open stock
ahh nicee i just got a simple dip pen and some nibs recently to feel fancy writing things haha loved seeing you use it! i only have the WN ink at home though and yeah its a bit tricky with the nibs!
These are the same cheap nibs as in Jazza's box. Good professional nibs are actually not expensive. Check dip pens and nibs on jackson's. They have nice sets with Gillott nibs for drawing, mapping, or manga. It's a pleasure to use them. While using the ones you have is like overcoming something and struggling during the process of inking. Professional nibs come with a coating. So, they need to be rubbed with alcohol before using. Some wash them with dish soap. Keep them clean and dry after each use and they will serve you a long time.
Hi! I got a similar feather pen as a present and don't know how to use it... How does the ink stay on the nib? It seems to have no ink after using it for a secons or so... What is the right angle to use it so you won't ruin the nib? Thank you very much and sorry for the ignorance...
That's so weird about the ink and dip pens, because that's the exact same ink I use with my dip pens and have no problems with it - but the nib I use is a Speedball one meant for inking illustrations, so that's possibly where the difference is? I've never seen a ball point like one you used, except on fountain pens.
In Finland we have some kind on trick or treating thing in Easter, when we dress up as witches or bunnies or something else. We decorate willow branches and go from door to door to say a poem that goes like "virvon varvon tuoreeks terveeks..." Etc and in the poem it says something about good year. And at the same time we say the poem, we "wave" the willow branch and then we give the branch to the guy and the guy gives candy. I don't know is there something similar in Sweden but this is the Finnish way :D
omggggg that cat that's laying on the mushroom i love it, can you make a webside with all your linearts that we could print and color it in? (ofc with your name on it of all those mean ppl that would streal your art cuz thats not nice of them) i just love it soooooooooooo much ant i wanna see what i can make of it with some tropical colors and stuff! hope you can make a webside of that :)
The ball-pointed nib looks like a cheap medium-sized fountain pen nib. The Pilot Iroshizuku is also technically meant to be used in fountain pens, afaik.
All the birds shed their feathers every once in a while(every 1-2 years), feathers look good after that if the bird doesn't chew on them or the feathers weren't damaged before shedding, so I don't think any bird was damaged to make these pens.
Will you be doing an Ohuhu skin blending tutorial? I just watched your Ohuhu skin tone set. I'm thinking about purchasing these but I would like to see more vids on them.
I'm not a fan of those styles of wax sticks, not only do they take forever as you said, but often you get soot in the finished product. I prefer to use a spoon, put a piece of wax in and hold it over a flame. You can even get spoons that hold the perfect amount of wax so there are no issues with too much, or too little! You probably won't ever use them again, but a tip just in case. You're supposed to place the stamp on the wax, and leave it there until the wax hardens. I noticed you had to push really hard, that's probably because the stick was melting so slowly that the wax at the bottom cooled before you had enough to use. Yet another reason why I prefer the spoon method!
as animal friendly artist the options in animal free supplies limits hugely. in this case it's feathers and the ink is probably animal pigment or contains animal ingredients but beyound this, in papers there is animal gelatin, paints oxgal or honey or shellac, bones or animal pigments such as squids. it's a endless list and as animal friendly artist you basically have to do a search in ingredients before purchasing anything. most well known brands already include such info on their websites. Next to that for those who are interested this might be helpful; doublecheckvegan.com/vegan-art-supplies/ that website is pretty up to date, eventhough the newest items might not be on it yet. but she (I think it's a she) searched all info up or contacted the company.
Hej! Vi har påsk häxor också här i Finland. Plus så älskar jag häxor och katter (har en Rescue katt Luna) så denna video är absolut min favorit Halloween video. 😍
great pumpkin witch 🙂 halloween isnt really a big thing here unless you are a young kid and even then trick or treating isnt something thats caught on too much here
You can use india ink with dip pens! 😁 You just have to make sure the ink does not dry on it and you will be fine. I have a g-pen and use dr. Ph martins india ink. I keep a cup of clean water and a soft cloth to wipe the dried ink off the nib. India ink should not be used with fountain pens it will destroy them.

I thought it was food lord... Guess I'm hungry?
Yea. Agreed. Looks like it says "Good Luck"
The way you outline is always so aesthetically pleasing :3 It’s always got a beautiful soft look
The nib with the rounded ball on the end is a fountain pen nib. They are very smooth to write with because of that ball, which is an improvement on the pointy nibs.
Me: *is calmly getting ready to draw, while watching old Kattvalk videos*
Also me: A NOTIFICATION FROM KATTVALK!!!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Omg me every time haha

Love the cute art pieces! Also really glad to hear the vlogs will continue! Really excited to see more!
These are such great pieces, they have such great character! I’ve been nervous of this type of ink as a medium, but this inspires me to dive in!!!
those are very very fancy i really want to get into letter writing so i think ill try a set and use it the way you did to see which is the best
Beautiful art pieces ! Working with dip pens is so satisfying :) A color book with cats and mushrooms ... oh yess please !!!
Thank you so much for the amazing Kattober ! I had so much inspiration and lots of fun drawing/painting cats the past month. Sad it’s over but hope you’ll bring it back next year !
i spent this past week binge watching your videos! they're so much fun! : )
holding the candle so the fire burns up towards the wax actually hinders the combustion and can even put it out. just from my own candle experiences. parallel flame is fine and downward flame is fine but upward flame doesnt like to be done.
Love what you did on this drawing. Never knew you could use ink in this way.
Love the art! Also Sally's little peets are the cutest! I really liked the last pen the best, if it had the black feather it would have been perfect for me. So glad to hear that you'll be doing more vlogs for those of us that enjoy them, it's a nice change of pace.
These are really interesting art supplies. I love the like kitty and the pumpkin witch girl. So cut and creative.😍 Happy Halloween!🎃
Anything that your put your heart into (coloring book cat creatures and mushrooms) we will love
I love how you used the ink wash.
I guess you could try wooden Quill pens...like the ones my grandpa used for drawing. They're very pleasing to work with.
The mushroom cat is my favorite 🤩
MOOOOOOOOORE VLOOOOOOOGS. Loved it, and love the pumpkin witch!
Ahhh this is marvelous ♥ ♥ ♥ Happy Halloween!!!
Edited to add: YAY! I'm so glad you've decided to do more art vlogs!
Happy Halloween!!!🎃 I love both of these pieces. They're so cute!!
Your furbaby is so cute! She looks so soft and fluffy !
All the birds shed their feathers every once in a while(every 1-2 years), feathers look good after that if the bird doesn't chew on them or the feathers weren't damaged before shedding, so I don't think any bird was damaged to make these pens.
Yes, chances are that they are sourced from sanctuaries and zoos.
Damaged 😂
Love your videos! My anniversary is on Halloween! 15 years today :D

I wish I could find such a haul just lying around my house.
I like the feather on the last one!
I loved the Witch! It was so original!
The witch looks like a character from "over the garden wall"
Oooh very facy pens. Very nice collection
Happy anniversary! My husband and I watched Nightmare Before Christmas on Halloween. :)
ahh nicee i just got a simple dip pen and some nibs recently to feel fancy writing things haha loved seeing you use it! i only have the WN ink at home though and yeah its a bit tricky with the nibs!
I got two different dip pens a while ago. Havnt used them. The scratchyness of the nibs annoyed me
Awesome kitty, drawing and real
I think they are dip pens. Quill pens are using the feathers steam to write and has been cut to make it to write.
They also have to be tempered to make the quill hard enough to write with!
3:01 The stamp says Good Luck!
I love the secound drawing and i love the one feather Pen very much 😍

Wow. I really wish I had that. I've been participating for a couple days of the month.
They are really cheap on amazon and lots of choice

I love the pens - 😍
I don’t celebrate it but Happy Halloween! Edit: In Finland little girls dress like witches during Easter as well.
Very cute drawings!
Aww the cat is so cute!!! I drew a kattober piece for this prompt too! Loved this vid!
💜a small art youtuber
A coloring book...yes please!!

Does anyone know what the blue pen is? The one she used to leave little dots of white in the ink wash backgrounds?

have you played with fountain pens! pilot makes some really good ones.

I nvr used dip pens b4 lol i have the ink but no pens i really should try them someday

Ink comes the least natural to me of any medium! You totally are a natural with it.
You can make a colouring book, I would be interested
The ball-pointed nib looks like a cheap medium-sized fountain pen nib. The Pilot Iroshizuku is also technically meant to be used in fountain pens, afaik.
May I know what paper are you using.
A cat and mushrooms would make a great coloring book
Hm, now I also wonder where these feathers are from and how they get collected 🤔
All the birds shed their feathers every once in a while(every 1-2 years), feathers look good after that if the bird doesn't chew on them or the feathers weren't damaged before shedding, so I don't think any bird was damaged to make these pens.
@@stacykrasnikova7744 they are also sterilised before sale

You should make a cats and mushrooms colouring book!!! THAT WPOULD BE AMAZING!!!!!!!
The second and third feather cames from owls. I really like this textures. 🙂 And your cats are so cute as always. 😄💕
Funcy as always Kattvalk
9:33 it's a thing in Finland too
What's the blue pen you use and erase to get white areas? :)
Masking Fluid in pen form :)
@@ori_gina_lart7621 omg Genius!!!
Sumi ink has grit in it, because it's made from the soot of burned plants, i don't use it with calligraphy is better for the Sumi brushes.
oh man the pawssss :3
so nice dear.
you are really wonderfull girl.
i purple you.
🌈💜💜💜💜💜💜🌈
Mushrooms and cats are like my favorite so a coloring book would be amazing if you did one I would buy XD
I wish I could also randomly find these somewhere in my house :D

I agree about the coloring book! You could call it Meowshrooms!
Also, I am so happy your are going to do more studio vlogs! I really enjoyed the last one!
I watched Fantastic Beast Grindelwald movie this evening. Unfortunately no trick or treaters
Wow, Im so early this video feels practicly live.
3:01 that says good luck.
My dip pens don't work with my India ink, dilute it!!!! Your a genius ❤️👍🏻❤️👍🏻❤️👍🏻❤️
It's my b-day so i had a super smal party with some of my friends and i got an ipad and an epplepencil😁😁😁
I think the wax kattvalk didn’t understood said good luck but idk 🤷♀️
We have such similar art styles :3

Damn I've never been this early
It would be very nice to see some different art other than cats, I would love to see your art
You are seeing my art? And yes I love to draw cats, but there are plenty of videos where I don’t draw cats 😉
@@Kattvalk ooo I can't seem to find any, dying to see what else you do 💖
I don’t know if you are joking or not, but I did draw a human in this video lol
