With Titles like 11 Fake Fees, to Don't Say I'm Paying Cash at Car dealerships, and Car Shortage Crisis, and Car Dealer Says Bring the Car Back!... The Homework Guy Team publishes videos to help Car Buyers. Then we added Cash Buyer Negotiations, and Held Hostage at a Car Dealership, No Haggle One Price Car Dealerships, How Much do Used Car Dealers Pay for Cars?, 10 Things You Should Not Say to Car dealerships, and the Costco Auto Program. We hit all the topics, and we represent Car Buyers, a goal that’s often in direct conflict with Car Dealer goals.
    A CAR DEALER WANTS TO:
    1. SELL every car for the Highest Possible Price.
    2. CONVINCE Car Buyers to use Dealer affiliated Lenders / Banks.
    3. LOAD every Car Deal full of Fees and Finance Products.
    4. OFFER Lowball numbers on every Trade Vehicle.
THE HOMEWORK GUY TEAM (THG) HELPS CAR BUYERS TO:
    1. BUY a Car from Dealers or Private Party Sellers at the Lowest Price.
    2. PAY Cash or Finance with their own Bank or Credit Union.
    3. DECLINE Dealer Fees and Finance Products.
    4. TRADE / SELL their current vehicle for the Best Value.
For more than 40 years, dealerships have EARNED their lowly reputation by being the masters of predatory selling. Dealers stalk victims relentlessly, often ruthlessly treating the most vulnerable car buyers (like seniors, for example) with little or no conscience. Car Dealers and their Finance Officers have no problem creating financial devastation for their customers with over bloated car loans, and quite often do. We point out the traps and the flaws of the process, and help car buyers get by all the nonsense without being ripped off. We promote fairness, honesty, and transparency, and we’d love to see a few dealers join our mission!
The Homework Guy Team provides car buying consumers with information, automotive news and updates, industry outlook, buying and selling advice, and other help to level the tables. The public face of THG is Kevin Hunter and the master negotiator, Amazing Elizabeth. Tons of time and research goes into every show, with several projects always on the table, all with the goal of getting it exactly right. From Automotive News Updates to vehicle shopping advice and assistance, The Homework Guy Team is the best there is.

I just purchased a Mustang Mach E two weeks ago. The dealer played none of these games with me. MSRP and dealer invoice is the same. We all know they receive holdbacks from the manufacturer. I paid MSRP with no add ons and they got me a better rate than my own credit union. The FNI guy even agreed I didn’t need an extended warranty due to my annual driving mileage. I called over 15 dealers and was met with dealer markups from $3k to $15k. This dealer didn’t partake in these scams. Hats off to Caruso Ford Lincoln in Long Beach CA.

Then you are in the minority as far as going through the car buying process. Awesome that you didn't have to deal with all the shenanigans..
These games, you mention, and covered in these videos, are games played by the majority of salesmen, finance managers, and majority of dealerships.. Just a fact.
That's why most people view the car buying process as a Root Canal...
There could be several reasons why, on your visit, and your particular interaction, that they just cut to the chase..
-- This dealer could've had, at the time of your visit, excessive inventory, and with 2022's on the way, felt it might be time to do what they can to move them
-- End of the month, typically, as we know, dealerships ramp it up, to meet End-Of-Month, End-Of-QTR, and End-Of-Year quotas
--They felt, from their conversation with you, that you might be a little more savvy, and knew they couldn't do the dance with you, and just got to it
Could by a myriad of reasons. But glad you got what you wanted, and had a good, smooth transaction.
Forever, the dealers have had the upper hand in squeezing every dusty penny off people. As most wernt educated, and informed
Now that more education is out there (Kevin Hunter, Your Auto Advocate, et al...), the public can prepare themselves better before heading to the lot. And get, what we hopefully all can get, a "fair" deal.
Im right near Long Beach, in HB, I wasn't looking at any Ford products (Im looking at Camry and Accord), but I may take a sniff at Caruso...

@@chuckfan1 Just to give you some more information, I purchased the vehicle on the ninth of this month. Their inventory was super thin. The car that I bought was pretty much all they had in that specification and most other dealers are marking them up $3,000 to $15,000. I have purchased over 80 cars in my lifetime and the last two were during this pandemic. I got an excellent deal as well on my truck that I purchased in March. It also is a tough vehicle to get your hands on and the dealership gave me X plan pricing plus rebates and saved me $7500 on my ‘21 F150 Limited Powerboost 4x4. That dealership is Theodore Robins in Costa Mesa.

    • @chuckfan1
      @chuckfan1 2 роки тому +1

@@TheCarCrazyGuy That's great... Your ahead of the game. Hopefully with videos like this, people can at least get a running start at a "fair" deal. That's all we want. Im staying on the Accord/Camry/Sonata path.. wish I was interested in a truck, but just at that point in life, this type of sedan is what I need (a myriad of reasons).. prices just too high right now. Im monitoring daily.. I dont need need a car, but If I can find something in my budget, Ill get it. Im at a good place financially (not rich, just prepared), and would like to get one.. Prices should start coming back down once the chips start getting back in, and the 2022s start arriving, and they have to move the 2021s

With regards to #1, I was put on hold once, at a new car showroom, and after approximately 10 minutes I walked out. I wasn’t approximately 1/4 of a mile up the road when my phone rang from that panicked salesman begging me to return. I told him to wait cuz I’ll be right back and hung up on him and no, I never went back and he called me back four more times.

I was thrown out of a dealership. The salesman stood up and said to me "you sold cars before! That was 36 years ago. Today they have a pool of monthly payment idiots to pick from so it is much more difficult to do what I used to. Last time I bought new, I got a phone call from the dealership asking me if I had made a decision. I had walked out a few days before. I answered, yes, it's parked in my driveway. I got another car from another dealership.

I had to drop another comment to this video to say thank you for the awesome tips. If used properly they do work as they did for me. I I was able to get an awesome car for a good price and the sales guys were left in shock cause I had already done my homework and came prepared that they had no way to get me. So once again thank you for everything you do for us consumers.

Great channel - very informative. I was looking for a 2022 Outback Wilderness. The price on Putnum Subaru's website was $40,906. When I inquired about OTD they stated their price was $50,960 but the could give me an "Internet Price" of 44,960.00 with an OTD price of 50,365.81. All of these leeches are thinking they are smarter than the rest of us. Being in the semiconductor business myself, it is not about manufacturing. It is about supply chain. Manufacturing has already equalized. The supply chain will take about 90 days to catch up. What will be their excuse then? Note to car dealers: don't pretend you are an expert at anything other than selling cars. You know nothing about manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or even how a fuel injector works. Stop lying.

Every research site seems like they are on the side of the dealer. Where do I go to find a "fair" out the door price. If I can just go to the dealer and say I don't want to hear your mouth I will pay X amount period then I might think about replacing my 20 year Optima. The biggest reason I haven't bought a new car was the experience I had 18 years ago when I bought that car used. If I never have to walk onto a car lot ever again it will be too soon.

I tried the same and might as well banged my head against a wall. There is no place you will get a proper determination of this price or the dealers price. Your best bet is to reach out to at least 5 (more if you can) dealers and get them to quote you the exact same vehicle. Pit them against one another and let them know you have contacted numerous dealers. I did this all via email back in February/ March. In the end I still negotiated with the one with the lowest out the door price and knocked another $700 off. They also ended up being the easiest to deal with. All in MSRP on the vehicle was $28,000 and I paid $23,300 all in plus 0% financing. Said no in the finance office to everything and walked away with a relatively painless and satisfying experience. If you want even better insight check out "Your Auto Advocate" - this father and son team have great videos as well that were super helpful in my purchase.

Would love to have yall along when I go to purchase my next truck!
It's a good 3 to 5 years away yet as I'll be paying cash or nearly cash for what I buy. Already watched some videos on cash buying advice. (Last time I bought a truck I made the mistake of telling them I was paying cash during negotiations.)

Great summary. Also be sure to get financing before you get into the box. Then ask the F&I salesman for your buy rate to compare. Also tell him/her that you can’t rely on their verbal claims on the coverages that they’re pushing. You can only rely on what’s stated in the legal contract and you should obtain at least two other competing quotes

This is one of your best videos. I'm understanding why I get real strange looks when I've gotten the question, "What payment are you looking for?", and I reply, "whatever it comes out to be". I wouldn't even 'think about' buying a car if I worried about what the payment is. I just want them to give me the price. The only thing I'm interested in, is the price "in relationship to Invoice", I'll take it from there, if I go to that dealer or not. I've found sales people that don't even know what I talking about when I ask that question.

My last car deal, I offered my car and a trade difference of $12 grand. The dealer came back with a question, what do you want for your car?
I would not give them an answer. See they wanted to debate the value of my car. Since I didn't put a number on my car, no debate. And I didn't debate their car price. I was simply focused on the trade difference.

I was in a dealership for 8 hours once! Fortunately, the vehicle turned out to be a lemon under California lemon law. I had it 2 years and 25k miles and got 100% of my money back, plus the nose bib, car cover and LoJack expenses!
