I've been bodybuilding for 39 years. Lately for motivation and to do something different I watch another video and copy it. Looks like tonight is high rep legs. I feel like your still with us, miss you John.
Most people miss out on the high reps for legs. High, medium, and low rep ranges on legs all bring out a different kind of work ethic in the gym. They all build heart. While most will slack off and go through the motions, the combination of these rep ranges on legs will bring out that inner strength that most avoid subconsciously.
Yes it definitely builds heart that shows work work ethic that I also wantpoint out I don't know if this is what you meant it will also bring out different qualities of your legs
@@davidarnold2718 yes, I think you understand. Heart- as in "never quit" or "I'll never die, I'll keep going". A reference we used in boxing. A fighter with heart will not stay on the canvas. They will continue to get up and fight, no matter how bad things are going for them in the fight.
Nothing wrong with that. One can casually build massive quads. Body responds to stimulus not exhaustion.
@Gastón Smart! IIRC, switching things up helps. Do strength until you plateau, then high-rep till you plateau, then "hypertrophy" till you plateau, etc.
@Gastón You go, son! 💪🏻💪🏻🦵🏻🦵🏻
Yeah, I'd say try for high weight once you plateau. I love hearing about the progress, bud!
something i loved so much about johns videos was that he actually got involved in the sets not just being a great teacher but also showing his ways
Of course, I am doing this. I still remember bulgarian split squat sets of death, couldn't walk 2-3 days.
Great videos as always John!
I freakin hate Bulgarian split squats but I include them on just about every leg day because they work. Love / hate relationship!
Remind me please?
Same and I do get scared thinking of doing it...everytime... It's crazy
A just so happens tonight is leg night and I was looking for a new routine.
leg night
leg night
I remember watching an interview with Tom Platz, and someone asked him, "Is it more important to go for Weight or Reps for leg growth?" and Tom quickly replied "It's more important to go for Reps for maximum growth." He was never an advocate for "Light Weight" but he loved to go for reps with a Medium-Heavy weight. Or, he'd squat for heavy weight but go to a fall back weight for high reps. For instance he'd work up to 405 then on the next set he'd fall back to 225 and squat till his legs fell off. I remember him saying, "When you do a heavy 405 set to failure then do 225 it feels like Butter." LOL!!! Anyway, appreciate your doing a high rep video John. Loved it
I been trolling around youtube for a few months now trying to pick up some training tips and better form and I find this John Meadows videos and he is really a good coach , explains so much and then I find out he is gone . I feel gutted . Such a huge loss . We are all very fortunate that he left a legacy of great videos .
I LOVE YOUR SHIRT!!!
God bless you man!!!
Christ is risen!
You the man Mountain Dog! Also the Lady training with you has quads sculpted by the Gods
Lol i was feeling insecure thanks for this comment
That's a lady?
@@martysimpson4720 gotta give her some credit at least she doesn't look like most of those typical freak show women bodybuilders!
@@martysimpson4720 Yes it is.
the quality of the camera blows my mind. looks like i’m right there with them!! :) 📸
Just did 10. I owe ya 190 more.
Lmao
You gotta do 5 more with the John Meadow taxs
As always, sir, your t-shirt game is unparalleled.
Beautiful shirt John! Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis!
Such an awesome shirt and awesome man! Ave Maria!!!!
You are the most knowledgeable trainer on social media.
All your workouts actually work.
Thank you very much
Gyms just opened and the 200 rep is a perfect way back in not super heavy but allows full range with a cardio twist.
Just awesome
John, the shirt is absolutely amazing and deserves the utmost recognition. Praise God man!
Get a grip of yourself you deluded fool.
@@JammyDodger45 You first
Love the shirt John!!! Where can I get one? 200 reps.....definitely not going to be able to walk the next day.
Following. I love that tee too!!
Watching somebody going hard in a leg session is always motivating.
John..... I love your instructional videos. You articulate points clearly & precisely. Easy to understand your explanations. Best of all your all about controlled movements and safety. Thanks so much. Your part of my preworkout routine- I watch one or two of your videos sitting in the car before headed into the gym to execute the movements you demonstrate. Thanks so much John .... you don’t know this but your my gym buddy
- please keep making these awesome videos !
Thank you for doing your variation of the bench press with the shoulder saver bar. I have imitated it at the gym the past two weeks, by using the pad people use for squatting as the ball in the middle of the bar, and it feels awesome!!! I love it! Thank you!
Love the shirt 💪
Great info like always, brother. 👌💎 Loving your t-shirt as well btw. 🌟
Mad props on the Shirt John! Peace & Blessings!!!!
classic tshirt collection!
💯👌👌Awesome video, I love that when you mentioned about pain tolerance and training. So good 🙏 I love seeing you train Theresa. Also great advice and guidance. Looking forward to the next video.
Great idea John. Now he is a Coach! Full of knowledge!
Just finished trying this workout. Absolutely brutal! Reminds you what training legs should feel like. Love it! Thank you
Thx John for another variation to pump up the quads. I have a partial meniscus tear and feel limited at times to what I should/can try. This is 🔥🔥🔥👍🏿
These rep ranges are a definite go to confuse and stimulate the muscles. They get too used to our usual workouts. Plus it helps us mentally re: what we can handle.
Okay, John used to be my favourite, but after seeing that shirt, he's my SUPER Favourite. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🛐📿✝️☦️✝️
Perfect timing. I was just wondering if you were putting up a 200 rep leg day. Trying it today!!
Update:. Did this tonight. Tomorrow is gonna be an Advil day.
I had to sub and go leg press and since my gym doesn't have a belt squat, I did Smith squats.
Full of blood...torched.
Did this leg workout this morning.....KILLER!!!!! 💪😊🙌
Gonna try this tomorrow can’t wait 🙏🙏. Once again John god bless you man always love your content and I’m ordering your granite complete protein today so hyped 💪💪
Top shirt.
Thank you👍. Serge nubret built his legs using high reps.
This workout looks sick! Looking forward to legs on Sunday. Thanks John
Ave Maria John , great video.
Drinking game: Take a shot every time John Meadows says "c'mon" in a training video.
im doing this wjand j kiwijbqb a. aa
no do one rep for every time instead. We tryna get big
As soon as I read this it started annoying me before I didn't even notice
@@NboOfficialAus it took me a while to notice... But there is no going back now...
Killer form. Love the videos MountainDog. Thank you
1 exercise that tested my pain tolerance was a leg extension with a 3-5 sec concentric and eccentric with a pause at the top. At the top u want to point ur toes up so that u can feel it in ur rectus femoris. Pick a weight that u can do for 10-12 and over a 4w block, try to get urself to get 15 reps with that weight. If u take a pump product too, u will literally feel the blood flowing into ur quads
I have gotten in to the habit of doing band squats to warm up - just with the 45lb max tension band for 50 deep continuous reps.
Then one day instead of moving on, I decided to keep with it, and do a giant cluster set, not stopping till I hit 200 reps. I rested only 15 seconds from MMF to continuing, and it turned in to one of the most challenging, exhausting and excruciating leg days - all with a modest thickness band. Earned myself 4 days of DOMS too 😂👍
Legs love volume, which is why so many people hate leg day 😉💪🏻
As soon as I think John couldn't be any cooler, he rocks a Blessed Virgin Mary t-shirt at the gym. Love it.
This looks awesome!! Can’t wait to try it 🙌
Me too 😍
Excellent shirt. Ave Maria.
Leg day just so happens to be this afternoon, I'm going to do it! Thanks @mountaindog1 you're the man!!!
Always bringing the GREAT content. That burn must have been epic.
I like the workouts with the combined good information to see it in action
The tip about flexing your ankles on the leg extension is life changing.
First time I tried it I was shocked! Couldn't remember the last time leg extensions were so difficult!
Which ankle flexion? Dorsi?
@@andrewmueller9986 yeah, pointing your toes up toward your knees.
Tried this out tonight. My legs are toast. Those last 5 reps though 🥵
Can't wait to try this one :) loved the other workouts in this series!
I’m learning a lot! Thank you John!
Have a hip press arriving in a couple of weeks. Really can't wait to use it
Got a lot of Respect for that Man
my friend / trainer convinced me to do 100 reps. I picked squats and started at 150lbs. worked my way to 225 over three months. after warmup i gave myself 15 minutes to get 100 reps. however i had to do it. usually set of 20 then 17 then 15 a bunch of paused out sets of 12 - 15. i got two sets of 20 with 225lbs my last two sessions of this. it was excellent for growth physically mentally and spiritually. no joke.
An excellent high volume/high intensity workout. This should crush my quads. I hate the lactic acid or whatever, but working through it makes you grow!
Thanks for the video and the discussion after. I learned much!
That leg press machine at 2:30 looks great, never seen that one before
That leg press is also made for isolation as well. So, basically it comes it two models and they work too! The sled is at least 30lbs by itself.
Oh my lord! I felt her pain. Nice video, thanks for posting
Love your channel, I recommend it to all my friends 👍
Love the shirt John. Blessed Theotokos ☦️
Rest in peace my friend 🙏☀️
Imma try this tonight, change it up a bit.
Man, this is some beautiful equipment. And looks like a hell of a workout.
Absolutely a monster workout
Thanks for the videos! They've really helped a lot!
Good GOD that woman got some LEGS!! 🥵🥵🥵🤤
Love ya, John.
I like his T-shirt! Anyone know where to get one?
Thanks
goblet squats is a good alt for the belt squat
Legs were toast for days after , think throw this workout in every 3rd leg session 💪🏻
After the other "200 rep" videos I came up with my own version for legs. It has been brutal!. :)
What's your version?
What's ur version
John what you think about Tom Platz training legs?
Fantastic exercises.
Her quads are insane!!! 💪😊🙌
Yeah Theresa Ivancik 😍😍🤟🏼
She's a BOSS!
Just did leg day real similar to John Meadows circuit.. Rest In Heaven John
Thanks John great as always
I’m doing this today!
Great shirt John. Blessed be the Holy mother of God.
Didn't even notice it until I read your comment. It is a beautiful shirt! Ave Maria gratia plena 🙏🏻
Ave Maria!!!!
God doesn’t have a mother. He is the beginning and end. God begat a son who is the expressed image of God and who God dwells in. The fullness of the Godhead dwells in him bodily, but to say that Mary is the mother of God is not correct.
@@jance2278 Jesus is true man and true God and Mary is his mother therefore Blessed be the Holy mother of God!!!
Looks brutal. I'll have to try this.
At 67 what are the best supplements someone can take , and how do we train to add or keep muscle
Great video I have been a member of Teresa and Jeffs gym for 4 years they have as of late have been 🙄HUMBLE 🙄 I am a loyal to that gym they are good blue-collar, hard-working people that deserve any success they have they have earned it, and I'm glad to see they are with the best coach and person on UA-cam John Meadows I am a huge fan of your knowledge and how you conduct yourself as a man and a human being keep up the good work and thank you for the contribution to our community
Hi John will you be doing a 200 rep chest workout would love to try that one
How good do u want the video quality to be?
John: yes
I'm going to make my friend do this workout with me I can't wait 😂
Her quads are state of the art👍
That shirt mountaindog is wearing tho...👌
That ol hide has some mushkles
We missed him!!! 🕊🕊
Im gonna try this tomorrow its leg day!
I can just about to do 50 squats and still could not walk for 2days great trainer
I never realized how big this guy really is. When I saw the video with Jeff Nippard, it blew my mind how John made Jeff look like a beginner. Ridiculous.
who IS this woman? She's awesome!
You can simulate the belt squat at home with your barbell and squat rack!! Look it up on UA-cam . It really works well
"it'll start burning around 10 or 12".
Yes, yes it will.
Theresa is so cool
I've been doing squats sets of 20 I start with an empty bar for 20 add 25lbs plates for another 20 then the 45's, go for 185lbs x 20 at this point I'm already thinking twice about following through, 205 x 20 here I'm grinding the last few reps and finally 225 x 20 no matter what it takes. I think I rather lift heavier for less reps than this but the toughness it gives you is such a rush afterwards
With legs I always pyramid up starting with a weight I can do for 20 reps max, and the following sets to failure. Then the last set is a lighter weight down the pyramid I can get 15 of. Kinda similar.
Man I want some of this equipment in my gym!
