We just moved back stateside after being stationed there for almost 7yrs. Best years were there & we miss & love our little house by the seawall. Okinawa will always have a special place in our hearts.
i used to work in the old quonset huts at the 1:30 mark to the right of the road. then we later moved to the enterance of the command post on the east part of camp foster gate ( TAVSC )
I agree, a lot has changed since I was stationed at Camp Foster Aug74 to Sep75. But it would nice to visit, not sure I could drive on the other side of the street... Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant who served 1973-1977.
As awesome as the island is, the real gold are the Okinawan people, I basically grew up there from 18 to 21 years old and I never saw an unfriendly gesture my whole time there aside from the protests in 1996. And even then, they were peaceful. Something about that island brings you into harmony
Does anyone know the title of the first Japanese song played in the beginning? It’s so relaxing. I was born in Camp Foster and we lived there for a few years. I want to go back so bad!
Mike-san! Anato no bidiyo wa yuuryou desu. Domo arigato! Natsukashii basho ne. Will be leaving to get back to Okinawa very soon. I'm hoping that you'll be available to meet when we get there... onigaishimasu! Mata ne! Mick
Navy Vet here. Looking at job opportunities in Japan and found something at camp Hansen. I was stationed in Yokosuka for 7 years. Okinawa seems pretty laid back. How would you describe it?

Did see an A&W. Its funny an old American fast food chain survives outside the U.S but good luck finding one state side
Wait it used to exist as a Cain in the USA? I always thought it was just a good brand of root beer.
My ssgt used to make me run around the outside of this entire base with him in the morning for PT
Ran the outside perimeter at zukeran next to foster. 2 years. 77-79. We’d get 1000 mile tee shirts. Those who did it. Ohio !!! Guzaimas.
