Thank you! I'm in love with this configuration. I set it up a few times in the garden to get the hang of it, then wild camped on the North Yorkshire moors in heavy rain and moderate wind - my girlfriend and I were cosy in our tarp palace all night. This is going to be my 'go to' from now on!
Love this I will be ditching my tent from now on tarp only (can I see a more detailed Close up on the carabinas) many many thanks for sharing, keep up the good work brother
Hey Ruth, weirdest thing. When I started the channel (five years ago, I guess) I thought that after about 30 videos on tarp pitches that all possibilities would be exhausted. That turns out to be veeeeery much not true!
This may be your best all-purpose pitch! As you say, it's a better Modified A-Frame. One or both ends open when not expecting heavy weather. Could this be done with a 3x4 tarp (instead of 3x5)?
Great tarp shelter there . Really adaptable . Brilliant if you're not alone on your travels , or if you want loads of space . Nice one thanks for sharing 👌👍
What pitch do you think would work in wintertime for 4 people with a 4.5mx4.5m tarp? I've been enjoying your videos for a while and love your content! Thanks!
Awesome roomy set up. But requires quite a big tarp. You seem to have quite a lot of different tarps, so I wonder how do you manage your tie out lines? Do you have a set of lines and stakes for each tarp or you carry a "universal" kit of tie outs on carabiners? Love your videos. Thanks!
Hey Anon, great question! I store all my tarps "naked" and have a lot of loose tie outs and guylines. Example this morning I packed for a week long trip to the mountains next week (stoked!!) took my 3*3m tarp, selected 6 stakes that fit the circumstances, two guylines and 10 tie outs (two with carabiners and cord locks, 8 with just loops).
Hey Johnny! I tried it in some serious wind and it stood like a house. Have to say: don't make do with a half baked setup, it must be setup well in order to perform well. Kind regards, Papa hiker

Whooo Miguel (bowing)
I love your tarpology videos! Very easy to follow with your little paper demos. Thank you for another setup!
Yay!🎈 the return of the king (tarp king!)!!! ⛺️😍👏👏👏‼️ Thanks for doing this one & having the best catalog of tarp set ups on the 'tube!!!!
YAY thanks Billy! And Aragorn rules obviously

Thanks Papa Hiker, defo gonna try this with the optional awning for my next trip!
Excellent set up. Especially that baker's tent variation at the end.
Nate
Hey journeyman! The cool bonus at the end sure is nifty yes, but fair warning: not very straightforward to do. Complete soberness is advised. :-)
dude, that's insanely awesome! thanks for the time & vid. subbed! 👍
Genius. Thank you for taking the time to film and explain. Thumbs up from the 🇬🇧 UK. Cheers Sel
Thanks Sel!
Thanks, awesome setup, and one I have not seen before! I love how many variations you can play with when using a tarp.

@@papahiker9014 That's really great news! It means I've got a lot of pitches to discover still 😅
Wonderful multipurpose shelter there.. So roomy, its a castle.. Perfect for two with gear and spsce.. Thanks...
Hey Rao! Thanks, I am also very happy with this one.
Great one!
I've already learned so much from you about tarps and i l
*and i love it, thank you so much!

Hey Treks n Tarps! Yes, nice to have larger options in your quiver. Kind regards, papa hiker
It certainly is , take it easy 🏕
A great pitch and explanation, as usual. As a solo hiker I’m still sold on your tarp tent… it’s great!
Hey D Wren, thanks, super nice that you like that pitch so much.
Kind regards, Papa hiker
Very cool you did that! Takes that one tent shelter idea you did to the next level! Thanks!
Thanks Aaron!
Thank you so much Papa Hiker. Amazing.

Your One of the best instructors I've seen , but why are your shelters always raised above ground level ?
This would work great with a ridgeline and prusik knots on the top attachment points, that would also eliminate the need to carry a pole
kind of what I'm thinking of creating but my unigear tarp I can adapt it better 3x4 😉👌👍💪👊👌
hi there, i think the bug net would be better suited to the pyramid style you do as the bug net opens that way...keep going
Love your videos brother! Thanks for passing on the knowledge.
Use every tie out…because powerful weather can come while you’re asleep. Better to have the tarp secured before you lay down.
Woot a new pitch for the winter
really nice.
Very nice pitch! Thank you
Thanks!
Love this video
Aaaaaaaaaaaawsome video and very suitable pitch, I love it. I love them aaaaaal!
Hi Martin! Thanks a lot, see you next time!
Love this configuration!!! You are the f man!!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks man :-)
super smart!

Great video!
Thank you very much.
I may just have to get a dd xl tarp now
I am loving it, just sayin'
Very spacious- how is it in medium and heavy winds?
Hi P RO! No, seriously, it does not even budge if you set it up nice and tight and stake the four flaps down. My guess: 7 beaufort not a problem.
Great video and tips , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Hi! How do you prevent your trekking poles slipping and falling? How do they stay upright under your tarp?

Can you stake to the ground?
The two-pole hexamid looks like It has a lot of unsupported canvas compared to the one-pole version. In Scottish winds that might matter.

@@papahiker9014 I have total faith in the tarp maestro. I'll give it a go.
Thank you for yr tutorial, wanna ask is this applicable to 3x3 tarp thank you
ua-cam.com/video/MLlpSs9Dj3g/v-deo.html
How long cord reserve do you cut for your tarp on the average?
Hey Miks, 3 foot tie outs (90cm) and 8 foot guylines (250cm)
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
is not solusion that exept for one or tow haurs
Doesn’t go to the ground. FAIL.
It's not meant to go to the ground.
