The flimsiness of the shoulders reminds me so much of the engineering of their Fuzz. Watching Bobby transform an XTB or KFC bot feels like watching a Saw victim solve a puzzle. And almost every XTB/KFC release feels like a Blumhouse Productions film; we already know what we're getting ourselves into, yet we still give it a chance.
Appreciated the subtle production there where you used the Counterpunch mode to illustrate the negatives, then the Punch mode to talk about the positives.
The Decepticon face does lift and spin, but I had to lever it with a spudger with WAY too much strength than should be necessary. I was sure it would break but it didn't. I don't know what's causing that face to stick like that but it seems to be common. The shoulders are on screws, not pins, but they look like pins from the Autobot side. Look on the other side and you'll find the screwheads you can tighten to help with the looseness.
Proud of you for taking your time and not breaking him, he looks so fragile. I think taking that lap works well for you. I do the same. Though was on the edge of my seat a couple times, lol.
I think this figure brings up an issue you should start covering. The transformation back to alt mode! I don't think you need to necessarily film it, but do it off camera and comment on any issues you come across.
I have one of these coming. I dont think anyone else it going to make this guy, so I wont cancel the figure. I thought it would just be a front back, but hoped it was more than that. There was a toy line in the 80's were the characters had another version behind them just like this. Like a heman type sword and sorcery world. I'm convinced X transbots makes their prototypes out of paper and then say LOOKS GOOD and then sends the design to the factory. This level of plastic origami is bonkers.
I have the other version (Japanese deco) and while a lot of the stuff is the same like the transformation engineering not being that good, my shoulder doesn't flop like yours. Guess it's a mileage may vary thing. Both faces on mine spin without issue, but it's a different head on my version. No alternate head either, just a 2nd face for Counterpunch. Guns are the same, but I had a hell of a time getting the orange one into his hand the first time, but it eventually fit right. I was able to get the headlights up and down but it was a little scary.
I’m surprised you don’t take a hair dryer to your XTBs to heat up the plastic/joints prior to transforming. Makes transformation so much smoother and can mitigate breakage. That said, I broke 5 toys this year. Sad thing is… I didn’t use my own advice or I may have avoided the snaps. Lol.
I've watched 2 reviews so far (thanks for showing the transformation) and now wonder if the backpack windshield swivel piece is meant to use the car mode's windshield in autobot mode to hide the decepticon Counterpunch windshield.
Every time i look at x transbots, there were designs that really didn't need to be so difficult but im guessing they need to do it for "parts count" for their ideal price they want to set
I feel this is a character that all the companies would probably make, but they all looked at each other to see who would do it first in order to see what not to do.
Every time you think XTB are going to get their shit together and take it to the next level, they have a relapse and release janky crap like this. Back to square one again.
Thing is in the headmaster's anime counterpunch was running around with his punch bits on his back would you think that would be a bit but that giveaway to the Decepticon
I'm a delicate dude. A person can only mean that in a bad way if they take offense to the very slight inconvenience caused to them by the fact that another person is emotionally and/or physically very weak and vulnerable through no fault of their own.
I'm a fan X transbots but i view them more display pieces transforming them 1 to 2 times only. Just want to point out there is a step that is not in the instructions for counterpunchs chest you can open up the chest piece with the silver on (its hinged on the bottom of the chest piece) to allow you to fold the tips of the windscreen in to give him a cleaner chest. Its transformed like that in the promotional images but that step is not in the instructions but X transbots do have some of the worst instructions around.
No idea why xtb has to have such complex for no reason transformations. I'm positive this could have been done way easier. Do they think complex=mp? Not going to lie you could tell Bobby was nervous as hell with this guy though and it was hilarious to watch it unfold. Glad it came together without the breakages that have happened to a lot of people though. I'd still be contacting costumer service and get a replacement because of that shoulder flopping straight down though.
I think X transbots should of made the figure much bigger So would of been easier to transform , then , well they should of threw in some ratchets for the arms
im not sure its cartoon accuracy thats causing MP figure's to be over complicated, NewAge and Magic Square are both doing cartoon accuracy and they are much more simplistic in comparison. for some reason, the designers are choosing to over design their figures and it baffles me as to why
Nope … I saw the first in hand pictures and immediately cancelled my preorder … anyone else that ever attempts this will blow it out of the water even if I won’t see it for years… not an important enough character to just fill a spot with like I was willing to do with Windcharger back in the day
I haven't seen a ton of breakages, but this still looks like a figure that won't hold up to multiple transformations, like quite a few X-Transbots figures (or the torso pins on FansToys Jazz). It seems to be another case of XTB overcomplicating something that really doesn't need to be that complicated, and it's a shame because I was really looking forward to this figure. As it is, I'm going to pass because it's just not built well. You shouldn't have to tighten screws to temporarily fix a poor shoulder design, for example (which you can do from the Punch side).
It looks okay, but as you said, the build is not great. I was also hoping they would do a bit more to hide the alternative bot mode from the other. Thanks for the review Bobby.
I was in for this because my Dad had a Fiero GT when I was a kid. The 3D model shots showed that version of the car...this is not that car, it's the standard version of the Fiero on the back half. Shame really but saves me the $100 price tag. Great review as always Bobby.
I thought that as well, but when I looked it up there was a Fiero GT that looked like this in 1985. The 1988 was the one that I thought it was going to be.
@@animatedplastic Yep! This is the 1985 standard which was the first V6 version. The "Fastback" GT, which the original 3D models showed, was introduced in late 1986. That was the car my dad had and it was a very fun car to drive.
This figure had me excited until I saw in-hand pics and the transformation. Appears to be all the worst of XTB in a single package. I have their Stunticons, the trailer transformation was enough ; I’m no longer prepared to deal with their poor tolerances and engineering
I can see why people have issues with this figure breaking. It's just over engineered with too many small parts. A lot of plastic is flexing to make that overly complex transformation work. Vehicle to robot doesn't even need to be that complex, if you're going to make a more complex transformation for this guy he needs something more for his 2 robot modes than basically just turn the entire figure to the back side.
is there such a target group? who invest money in a action figure that is inhumanly complex and causes endless suffering. the challenge who breaks first. the owner who breaks his hands or the figure and the owner breaks mentally broken because of he buy this shit. 😱 i only own few 3rd party transformers, mostly upgrade kits, and have only 4 takara MPs in my collection.
How the hell is this company still in business? I swear, KFC/XTB have consistently been infamous for this kind of overengineering, fiddly fragile parts, and poor tolerance issues. Looks are just about the only thing they have going for them but that barely matters when the figure itself is fragile junk.
Sometimes figures that don’t move much are quick to snap. I broke a figure yesterday (non transforming) broke right at the ankle. But I wasn’t reviewing it so it won’t count against me lol

Comment of the year 😂
Their design approach is explode everything into panels and have it all sorta line up to create hollow facsimiles of limbs

The transformation of that figure is a nightmare. Pass on it
I was SO close to grabbing this guy the other day. It’s sad that I’m glad I didn’t. Appreciate you taking one for the team as always.
Hahahahaha, I like the Robert D head on your spudger.
James Bond probably would not drive a Pontiac Fiero.
Once I tightened this shoulder and elbow screws, this figure went from Good to GREAT. Love how they were able to pull this off.
Wouldn't be XTB without a fatal flaw waiting to happen.
I quit xtransbots years ago for the reasons you show great vid
I breathed a sigh of relief when you got past the legs.
Great Job !
After too many breaks I previously cancelled all my XTB preorders and this review confirms that was the right decision.
I have a ton of them on pre order. It's not looking great.
XTB does whatever is possible to convince me not to buy their products 😅 So far they are doing a great job!
So excited to watch this! I Have been avoiding everyone elses videos.
Ooo, “Switch-Sider.” I like it! X-Transbreaks - “Break S***!” [*Sen Dog voice*]

Those legs are making me flinch
pretty sure another review showed the shoulders arent pins, but the screw heads are behind the yellow chest?
You can tighten the shoulders
I like him. Im gonna get 2 to put in each mode. Punch and CounterPunch
someone needs to do a supercut of that moment when Bobby thinks he broke something. The suspense in that moment is palpable.
I think this figure brings up an issue you should start covering. The transformation back to alt mode! I don't think you need to necessarily film it, but do it off camera and comment on any issues you come across.
He will likely show the reverse transformation when the Japanese version comes out.
Great review.
It's saved me a few £££ and a lot of frustration.
I was on the fence about this one.

Thanks for the review. I was on the fence and this makes it an easy pass. To many other things coming out now that are more worth my money
Headlights don't go up and down. Just like my Fiero
I have this on preorder. Should I cancel it?

Real Talk: Love Keith’s Alt Modes. If X-Transbots produced MP Scale Alt Mode only products; with functional doors, lights, etc. I’d be all in.

I'm just hoping their take on Nightbeat comes out well.
I've had that one pre-ordered on ShowZ for over a year, now.
I've watched 2 reviews so far (thanks for showing the transformation) and now wonder if the backpack windshield swivel piece is meant to use the car mode's windshield in autobot mode to hide the decepticon Counterpunch windshield.
Some day, xtransbots will figure out how to do feet.

I watched this as 8:00am and I need a drink from watching you work those feet. Jeezy Creezy.
I’m not sure why but I actually like the complexity of all the Xtransbots figures, and so far the figures I got didn’t have too many problems.
Every time you think XTB are going to get their shit together and take it to the next level, they have a relapse and release janky crap like this. Back to square one again.

Sony has a good video on how to tighten the shoulder joints. They look pinned, but they are not.
You missed a couple steps ! Good review though !
it looks nice But problems with the arms ( and no body have Counter punch
you earned that 12 on the board

I've always liked thr character but not a fan of this figure or transformation. But I will definitely pick it up when it inevitably goes on sale
Both come boned as James to become one automotive spy.
21:00 Whaaaaaat???
Will Masterpiece-styled Transformers ever become fun (i.e. simple) to transform? I'd prefer that over cartoon accuracy or whatever.

Those feet give me the fear. 😮
Haven't even watched yet, but I have a feeling something gonna break. It's XTB. Shit always breaks

I was shocked lol. That stress mark isnt good tho. Only time will tell

Such talent XTB has, and this is what They cooked up...talk about a floppy mess. " Stop it, Get some help"...MJ.
Uncle scully what up love the videos you have a unique style I enjoy I appreciate you
I'm left hoping the battlechargers will survive the transformation to bot mode, and when thats all you've got collecting feels bad.
It looks okay, but as you said, the build is not great. I was also hoping they would do a bit more to hide the alternative bot mode from the other. Thanks for the review Bobby.
The main reason I am picking this guy up at all is i really don't see the character being made by anyone else any time soon.

I think counting figures you review that don't transform takes away all the meaning out of your breakage counter. Nice review on a crappy figure.
Why? Non transforming figures make up at least 1/4 if not 1/2 of my breaks this year…
@MythsAndHeroes idk man. I just recently watched the 6 Batman figures that don't move much, so to count stuff like that just seems odd.
