    Excellent and well done, your video was very informative. I have had a Pipa and Liuqin for many years now. I am retired and one of my projects is to play them more. Thank you.

    There are also 5 String Pipas which have a 5th String tuned to extend the range to complete 4 Octaves (E2, A2, D3, E3, A3) 31 frets in Total (Range of the 5 String 31 Fret Pipa is E2-E6 which is in fact the same as a Standard Guitar).

    The 5 String version of the Liuqin (small Pear shaped Mandolin) also exists, but I'm not yet sure how it's tuned cause they're figuring it out.

    Thank you for the video, I have 2 questions. I am so glad I found this channel that is specially explaining about these fantastic music instruments. Question one: what kind of glue can I use to put the little piece of wood back on my luiqin? Yiu k ow the pieces of wood that I press with my left hand to change notes or accords while holding the picker in my right hand to play on to make the various notes? One of these woods came off. Question two: please what strings I can buy, I broke the lowest string while turning my luiqin? They seem to be very fragile and break easily. Guurmtar string? Erhu strings? Which strings please? Thank you🙏

      You use wood glue for the frets

      Also, never, ever, ever put guitar strings on the liuqin haaha. You can buy liuqin strings at their online shop

      @@sugarboohoo thank you for your reply. Yea I have bought the strings from them already. I have them. When you say wood glue you mean the white color wood glue that carpenters use or a different one? Thx

      Hi there! Anson here, tuning the yueqin is similar to tuning the liuqin, we currently do not have a yueqin in our shop, but I hope this information will be helpful for you :)

    Hi, im wondering, where is the sound hole on the pipa?

    • @EasonMusic
      @EasonMusic  2 роки тому

      Hi there! That's an interesting question, and we've spoken with our colleagues that plays the Pipa. There in fact is a sound hole on the Pipa, but it is hidden beneath the bridge where the strings are looped in. It's really tiny so one might not even notice!

    I have a pipa and a short neck moon guitar are they tuned the same do they use the same strings , can I use regular guitar strings ? , I also have an erhu do you know what thickness strings I need and how do I tune it ?

    • @EasonMusic
      @EasonMusic  4 роки тому +1

      The short neck moon guitar is called Yue Qin and they use different strings. We haven't tried guitar strings on them cos we always have Yue Qin strings available. My guess is that it might not work as well. Erhus are tuned to D A and you need to buy special erhu strings. We have a video on how to setup the video which teaches you how to change strings and tune the erhu.

      Eason Music are the strings metal or nylon ? What are they made from ? Do you know the diameter or thickness‘s of the strings ? I don’t know if my strings are original to the two instruments.

    Can someone please help me? I bought one of these months ago and I’ve been trying tirelessly just to tune it and every time I try to tune it it immediately goes out of tune. No matter how hard I hulk strength it in it pops back out. I’ll push it in with every muscle in my body until I feel like I’m about to pass out and still it refuses to stay. It seems like no one else online has this problem. What am I doing wrong? Are they all this hard to tune? I want to start playing it so bad but I can’t even figure out how to tune it.

      Hi Adam! Why not take a video of how you tune. Just show the pegs portion of the pipa would do. You can send it to admin@easonmusicstore.com :)

    I have a question, how can I tune my pipa in tone of D? because I have a tuner but I have no idea how can I use it, Thanks!

    • @AnsonLim
      @AnsonLim 4 роки тому +1

      On a normal chromatic tuner, it will indicate the pitch you are at, meaning it will show the alphabet "C", C#", "D", "F", "G" etc. You just have to make sure when you're at "D", it's in the correct range. One way to find out if you're in the correct "D", if it‘s too low, the string will be too loose to even produce a sound; if it's too tight, you'll know, because the string would've snapped by then.. So becareful while tuning! (:
