    I've been looking into foggers, and you're definitely speaking my language... the vivarium industry in general, from terrariums to aquariums, seem to be magnets for predatory behavior. Everything is overpriced, and under performs at that. The thing that makes it so frustrating is all the mouth-breathers in these hobbies who just throw money at their problems and keep costs high rather than being pioneer diyers, or just being a little bit thrifty, heaven forbid.

    I followed this, and it works great. I got a frog crane cool mist humidifier because I thought it was an ironic theme lmao. I wrapped fake vine around the outside of the tubing and hot glued it, so that it doesn't just look like I'm running tubing through my room. I ran it up the wall, drilled in a small wall hanger, let it rest on the hanger and fall naturally back into the terrarium.
    Thanks for the idea!

    This is a great tutorial, I never even thought to use a normal humidifier, I was looking into building a misting system and then when I started looking into the water pressure needed to get it to actually work, and then worked out that all the parts to make it and how I'd want to customize I might aswell buy one xD
    Top tip, if any watchers are in the UK amazon have 4L ones for £12 xD

    I have this humidifier that we pull out when a family member is congested. Just know that it's kind of a pain to clean. Calcium builds up in it, then you have to soak and clean it with vinegar.

    Thanks for the DIY! Found me a goofy looking Elephant shaped humidifier at Goodwill. Turned out that with the elephant lid removed a piece of 1-1/4 pool hose fit perfectly into the discharge opening without having to alter anything. Ran it up to a 90 degree pool fitting I zip tied to the top of my vivarium screen and had it set up and running in about 15 minutes. Added a timer that runs every 2 hours alternating between 15 and 30 minute cycles. My anoles and plants are happily humid now for a grand total of $10 spent on humidifier and hose, and another $15 for the timer.

      Do you have to water your plants in addition to that?

    • @OakLaneCemetery
      @OakLaneCemetery 2 роки тому

      @@jendubay3782 Yes. Because of the size of my tank I need to water everything about once a week. The fog from the humidifier creates a nice dew on everything, but it does not penetrate the substrate and does not stay long at the end of the tank where the heat lamp is. The humidifier is more for creating a good burst of humidity in the air that keeps the overall air humidity up where it needs to be. My setup - ua-cam.com/video/67UoApdc8hQ/v-deo.html

    Looks like it’s super effective! Maybe a little bit too effective! You might consider, putting in some sort of valve or a timer, so it does not completely fog them!

    That's a good idea using the bottle. I'm just using a Chinese, Vicks knockoff so it doesn't have that kind of output; but Im using it for an indoor garden. Was trying to figure out how I could attach a 90 degree joint and an aquarium spray bar. The bottle will work perfectly, thanks

    Another thing to consider is that tap water contains chlorine which is not good for the frogs that absorb everything through their skin. A water purifier should be added to tap water. If distilled or reverse osmosis water is used then there are no worries for the humidifier or the animal.

    Thanks, Alison - I really enjoyed your video, and was really excited to run out and find me a $5 humidifier on CL. Then I did the whole hot glue thing... and it worked... for only 3 mistings. Then the water bottle top came apart from the ring I'd glued it onto! I was really surprised. Anyone have a suggestion for how to make that stick? I'm thinking of trying caulking ...

I only run this thing every once and a while to raise the humidity/water some of the air plants in there then I turn it off after a few minutes.
