I was in the aquarium business for 20+ years from the mid 1980's to mid 2000's. I have built, installed and maintained some incredible aquariums ranging from 55 gallons to 1200 gallons. The aquarium in this video is by far the coolest one I have ever seen. I may get back into it as a hobbyist and do something like this but with saltwater. Make it like a house and dock over the water in the Bahamas or FL Keys with native fish and and real Mangroves. Baby snappers and Barracuda.

scarab i live in the keys and am growing some babie mangroves and i can get you local fish i will check for parasites first cause i wouldn’t want to mess it up

Man I love the way you made all that with basic supplies. Cardboard made to look like worn corrugated, the paddle pop sticks with a little flame-work to look as aged timber, and the boat too out of paddle pop sticks . Really cool construction from confident work. Thanks for showing how.😀

Looks great, and what a nice little kitten, we had a 20 gallon aquarium with neon tetras and guppies and a sculpture of the ruins of Atlantis the fish hid in. Our cat used to paw at the fish through the open top of the aquarium, he almost fell in so we had to build a better stand to keep him off.

Store your food/supplies in the shack?? Maybe have a pump in the little shack on the right, with a filter in it?? Making the buildings functional for the tank would be really cool.

What an incredible combination of art and function, and a brilliant way to make a diorama come to life!
I really admire your creativity. I wouldn't have thought to use the wood scraps to make the boat, let alone heat them to bend and form the curvature of the boat bow! Or the tires out of foam, or the clothing hangers from spare wire. Absolute brilliant ingenuity!
This is so cool! Only question I have is if the wooden popsicle sticks will soften and cause the structure to list (this happened one time when I noticed the bamboo skewer I use to pick up my Java moss had fallen in after the last water change lost all it's rigidity)
I use mangrove sticks from the dead trees to decorate my aquarium like this.

It’s ok at best BUT has one glaring problem. You need a cover over the water because trust me, the fish will jump out. They always do. I have had aquariums in the past without a cover and they jump out on the floor and by the time you notice them, their stiff as a cucumber. Also, a few live plants growing in the water would make this look much better instead of just the few floaty plants. The popsicle stick ‘posts’ holding up the shake will also warp from being in the water and the shake would topple over. You should have used bamboo sticks for the posts. Nice work building the structures and boat though. I give this a C- grade.

If i was to improve upon ur design i would have built the shack to dimension to hide the filter and heater inside and probably would have crafted the filter inlet tubing to look like underwater drainage pipes by painting it weathered metallic and add rivet texture along the length of the tubing. It might have been cool to add in some small crab traps attached to little buoys. A couple more cross beams for the docks underwater structure would have elevated the design as well but overall i really like what u did

That is amazing I definitely would buy that off you if I had the extra cash…I would’ve put assorted shrimp or Bala sharks in there maybe a few cat fishes as well and a dwarf Ploco 😀

This reminds me of a story my dad tells.
My grandma had a VERY big fish tank with many fish. (And my dad as a kid) decided to build a boat out of popsicle sticks and glue. So after he built it he put it in the tank and accidentally left it overnight. And the glue started to disband, the glue killed all the fish and my grandma doesn’t know how to this day..
