    Today I’m riding the Beta 300RR. It’s amazing what a little turn on an allen bolt will make on a motor. I turned the power valve bolt out to where it was flush with the case (about 1.5 turns) and that has make an amazing difference.
    Hope you enjoy.

    Nice to see the Beta rip up the trails. This should be a good learning lesson for your son. Now he can replace his wheel bearings and understand why preventative maintenance is so important

    I'll be interested to see at the end of your "2017" test riding and reviews, which of the bikes in the past year was the overall standout and why. Perhaps you could do a small summary piece, the kind of rider each bike may have suited etc.
    Seperate topic, do you race/have you taken any of this year's bikes racing?

    Roots, rocks, logs and ledges are where these bikes thrive! Glad you're getting more power and fun out of your Beta!

    NICE!!!!! thats what I wanted to hear, right on Kyle you found the joy! for the front end, maybe drain some fork oil out and balance it to the soft side? thanks Kyle for keeping it up.

    Hi Kyle, would you please take the Beta up to the really slow and technical Trials-esque trails? Really curious to know how it performs in the gnarl.
    Thank You!

    I presently own 6 300 2 strokes (had KTMs but sold them - would own another one with no sweat) - all the latest models: 3 Betas, 2 Huskys, 1 Gas Gas. The low end grunt on the Gas Gas is the smoothest. The others are excellent to each other. All of these bikes have taken anywhere from Gold to Bronze medals in ISDE Qualifiers. I don't think you will go wrong with any 250 or 300 2 stroke available.

    the forks on my beta 300 were terrible until the other day. i changed the fork oil using a mix of 2/3 5wt oil and 1/3 2.5wt oil. it now feels plush and the harshness of the high speed compression is gone. would highly advise trying it if you own a beta.👍

      Martin Cantwell lol I put 5 wt motul in and hated the feeling. Ended up going back to a similar to stock cst weight(32) belray 10w and found an improvement. So personal though.

    there's a lot of happy beta owners out there now!
    it must be hard to gauge bikes separately as they are all set up so differently. you can make almost any bike to suit your needs with a bit of work.
    great channel btw

    I like that the power is so adjustable, I find the KTM 300 to be a real handful and would love to tame it down a bit, also the bike being on a small side would be good for me, I'm only 5'8" and my KTM is super tall!

    • @jnuxca
      @jnuxca 7 років тому

      you can totally tame the ktm playing with the valve springs and jetting, or at least that's the case with the old engine (before 2017) don't know about the 2017

    • @Hulley29
      @Hulley29 7 років тому

      Yeah, I'm aware of the PV and springs but I'm told it doesn't make that much of a difference. Now in all fairness, Kyle's opinion is his and the Beta 300RR in super soft mode may still be a handful to me. I love my 150XC-W but I find myself wishing I had got the 300 and just worked on taming it down. It's be great to have both 150 and 300!

      Hulley29 the springs on the17 300's make a huge difference. Totally different bike with each spring. I use the yellow but green is great for wet. Red is too much for trails

      im actually 5' 8'' as well and i feel your pain brother. :(. just got a 2017 yz 125 and its so much taller than most bikes i've ridden. i couldnt even imagine what a 250 or 450 four stroke would feel like.

    • @carmane2894
      @carmane2894 7 років тому

      MxDucks 125's are usually taller than 250's and 450's

    I think there's allot to be said about a smaller feeling platform bike. Now if you can get the suspension dialed in or if you just need to step up to the racing version. waiting to see if you can work it out.

      I can tell you the 2016 race edition forks are harsh until you hit 15 hours or more. they have a break in time. then time and dump the oil it's too thick. when you push the bike hard though that suspension works very well just a bit to harsh on the slow rooted stuff. but I do love my 300rr race

  • @ryandavis2029

    Kyle try putting a Goldentyre 216AA Fatty on the front. The deflection in the front fork was noticable on my 16 300RR. It is now fixed with different valves and oil but that GT front tire makes it way more stable and confident.

    I just unscrewed my PV to flush last week at a moto track.... I feel like I got a new bike! Makes me also feel like I wasted the last 8 months with it lol.
    Not a fan of the forks (oc) either at speed. On a creek bed though, slow going, they shine.

  • @PrimalEnduro

    now you are rippin! don't know what you weigh but the stock springs are pretty light...like most manufacturers they come set up for a 160lb rider. If you are much heavier than that the springs are sagging and putting you into the firmer part of the valving too quickly. Make sure you have the proper springs for your weight...OEM is .42kg front and 5.2kg rear. For me at 200lbs naked in that kind of fast terrain I would need .48's and 5.8 rear

    • @ToriMoto
      @ToriMoto 7 років тому +1

      Lancair W well obviously he trusts his kids my father did that when I was 5 on a little jr50, all the way up to now being 13 on a rm250, I say if you can trust the kids then you can let them go by themselves, but I don't say he forgot about him but more so was on a circuit track that leads back to where their at.

    • @lancairw867

    Hey Kyle,
    Good to see you got the power figured out. Keep in mind d it's easy to accidentally hit the mapping switch. I kept doing that so I moved it in and rotated it up a little.
    On my race edition I noticed the forks were a little harsh for the first 20-30 hours then like magic they got really nice. I was only running 3 clicks of comp. Not sure how the open chamber gold forks are.

    I just purchased a used 2015 xtrainer 300 and it is not running very well (first 2 stroke) I don't have a real good reference point for how a 2 stroke should run actually. However I have tried to adjust the power valve in and out. I can't seem to find any mention of it in the owners manual on line as to how it should be adjusted. I ride extremely tight slow technical trails. No wide open roads. Need more low end grunt. Any input here would be greatly appreciated.
