      Thanks for suggesting a PV check! I've done PV adjustments on my carb KTM/Husky 300's and these usually resulted in a bit of a flat spot then hit as the PV opened. On my '23 Beta 300RE adjusting the PV simply turned up the throttle response - still smooth power, just a little more fun!

    Great to see some interactive viewer suggestion testing :-D The thing that makes or breaks beta is having a really good importer as quite a few have had issues from the factory (sounds like your importer goes the extra mile). Every 2nd bike in Oz was a Beta until they changed importers. Now they're quite rare. It'll be interesting to see what happens if KTM put 6500's on the 24 XCW/EXC, as ithe KYB's have been Beta (and sherco's) main way of getting a foot in the sales door.

      OEM, Importer, and local dealer support is very important for any motorcycle brand along with quick resolution of any quality issues in the market. Local KTM dealer told me the 2024 KTM XCW models should be announced mid May. Sounds like TBI + oil injection and not sure about spring forks (either keep XPLOR or latest closed cartridge design on 24 XC models).

      Yes - livens up the throttle response...engine builds RPM's a little quicker and actually more fun to ride for me. Now if conditions are slick the stock setting would be easier to ride. Impressive amount of engine character tuning available with the map switch and PV preload.

      I rode a 22 Sherco 250 RE 2-stroke and it is a great off road bike. I am trying to find a 23 Sherco 300 2T to ride back to back with my Beta 300RE and Husky TX300

    hello, i have a beta xtrainer, and from the rubber tube coming out of the exhaust valve, i always get a lot of oil coming out of the fuel mixture. Is this normal? is it possible to do something to stop the oil coming out? it leaves stains on the floor of the parking lot. Thank you very much.

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  2 місяці тому

      I also have some oil residue coming out of the Power Valve cover vent tube which I believe is common...just not sure how much is "normal" amount of oil residue. I don't see oil drops under my bike when parked so maybe yours has another issue so perhaps take it to the local Beta dealer and see if they can diagnose if there is a problem. Xtrainer has oil injection system so usually that helps the engine run cleaner

      I rode my TX300 at East Fork MX yesterday. I really like that bike and I really like the Beta 300RE too. Both bikes have far exceeded my expectations and I am 50/50 split on which one I would pick over the other. Need some back to back rides with the 300RE and TX300!

      @elmntfrlif Рік тому +3

      Flush with the case is as far as they say to turn it out. I run my 22 250 RR flush and it’s great. In my experience flush made the power feel more linear and less of a unpredictable hit in tight single track conditions

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Рік тому +1

      That is a good question - I assume there is stopper of some kind so the preload screw will only go so far out (also to stop it from vibrating out of the cover).

    could I get some advice, I'm not too clued up on carbs/jetting but want the better suspension on the racing. Can you set and forget kind of deal with the carb? appreciate any input I'm looking at the 250RR vs 250 RR Racing

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  3 місяці тому

      Beta has really dialed in the stock jetting on the 250 and 300 2-strokes. Now the 250RR base has oil injection so no mixing gas/oil - that is nice! The Race Editions require gas/oil mix. I ride mostly in central Ohio and sometimes Pennsylvania with elevations from 500~2500 feet so not big variation and the stock jetting works fine for me with slight turn of the air screw in low of high temperatures. Suspension wise pay the extra money for the Race Edition - the KYB components are worth it and you can add the oil injection kit on a Race Edition bike if you don't want to mix gas/oil. Beta Rideability!

      @@mxengineer1 oh wow thanks so much thats really helpful, didnt know you could add an injection kit after thats changed my game masivley, I'm in the UK so I would say the temperature range is quite alot from very cold to fairly warm. Thanks man!

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  3 місяці тому

      @@yzniinja I've ridden my 24 Beta 300RE from about 22F to 90F with stock jetting. Richen the air screw for below 50F and lean it a bit for above 80F. Works well over a surprisingly big temperature range. Beta knows how to make 2-strokes run clean with a simple carb and mechanical power valve!

    Hi I want to know what's wyay got turn it clock wise or anti clockwise it's on the pipe as it is quite violent feels motorcrossey if I make sense I don't want to turn it all way in or out to find a abase reference so if I want smoother power what way do I go 😂😅😅😅

    • @1991enduro
      @1991enduro Рік тому

      I think I understand I née d to go clock wise a bit to tune it down

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Рік тому

      Turning clock wise (CW) applies more preload to the power valve spring - that added preload force slows the opening of the power valve and will smooth out the power. Mark the OEM factory setting then start by turning the adjuster in 1/4 turn at a time. My guess is about 1-turn in (CW) and you will notice the power coming on a little more smoothly. Also the recent bikes have a map switch near the gas cap. Pick the cloudy day and that should tame the hit a little. Let me know if it works for you!

  • @leviwilkinson247
    @leviwilkinson247 Рік тому

    Do you know how many turns out you are from seated? Or how far out/in from flush?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Рік тому

      Sorry I have not checked. I simply rode it stock as delivered from the Beta factory, marked that location, and started with 1/4 turns going out from the stock position (which lowers the spring preload on the PV and allows it to start opening at a lower RPM). I found that around 3/4 to 7/8 of a turn out from stock gave the engine a little snappier throttle response which makes the bike even more fun to ride.
