Blood Covenant: The Story of the "Mafia Prince" Who Publicly Quit the Mob and Lived
    here: - amzn.to/2KefHAK
    -----
In this clip, Michael Franzese spoke about his encounters with Trump during the 1980s but noted that the current president was never affiliated with the mob in any official capacity. Franzese explained how the developers in NYC had to deal with the mob to make things happen and considering that Trump was a real estate developer, things were no different for him.
Later, Michael Franzese goes into detail about the mob's control over labor unions and how this allowed them to gain and exercise political power across the nation.

I really liked how Joe Pesci portrayed Mr. Bufalino. I felt like I was seeing my French Grandma coming back from the dead. She had the same quiet demeanor. Nothing got her upset. She was polite, did not get people riled up.
She used to beat my uncles with a frying pan and rolling pin. She threatened to shoot someone trying to break into her car, leaning out of the window of her house. She did not take crap, did not give crap and kind to most everyone.
She stood her ground, did not start trouble and didn't suffer offenses.
I don't know if Mr. Bufalino was that way. I do know that a lot of old time Italians, French and other "latinos" carried themselves that way.

I believe that Frank did it. By the time of this meeting Jimmy Hoffa knew who not to trust. Only two people could have gotten Jimmy to that meeting and they are Chuckie O’Brien and Frank Sheeran. The movie was right they always ask the person closest to you because they can get to you. You don’t turn them down or you go too. Another reason I believe this is true is because if Jimmy had to go and they thought Frank would cause a problem they would have killed him too. The fact that he lived tells me what I need to know.

@Kabukichō he was connected with one of the biggest families....I'm pretty sure he has an idea. Like he said..and the same thing that's been said by feds who covered the Hoffa case and the families involved....sheeran was always discredited of any involvement. Sheeran was a hitman and driver for Bufalino. The hit was sent down from Newark. They had no reason to bring a 3rd party in. The Giacalone brothers of the Detroit crime family were close with Hoffa. Billy and Tony Giacalone were his mob contacts. Tony was at the southfield athletic club asking members for the time the whole time of Hoffas disappearance. Giving him a alibi. Billy Giacalone shook his 2 tails, one fed one state, around 10:30 that morning until later that evening. The evidence the feds have all points to them...theres no evidence Sheeran was involved at all

@Lump slow, sluggish, meandering, pointless at many points. is it fun, exciting, interesting, entertaining, enlightening to see a couple of old guys drive across country with their chain-smoking wives? most of the details are nonsense -- for example one of the top mob guys (Buffalino) routinely goes to pick up cash from civilians and associates? Shearan drives a truck to deliver arms to Cubans in Florida? Hoffa brings Shearan halfway across the country to push cabs into a river? Hoffa is a nice, family guy who is rarely depicted as ordering acts of violence, and resists mob Teamsters? this is just a collection of lies and half-truths; and it's self-indulgent movie making at its worst.

    • @Avital4414
      @Avital4414 4 роки тому

Lump Scorsese should have chosen a better book to base a movie on - and he should have had a reason for making it. And what was the nonsense about Shearan’s daughter? Was she a psychic? She sees the news of Hoffa’s disappearance and looks at her father knowingly. Scorsese devotes 20 minutes to a travelogue of America’s back roads but can’t give us real insight into the father-daughter relationship?

It WAS fun either way looking back and seeing what elements to his filmmaking Scorsese brought back, the subtitle cuts, one of the beginning shots being from the climax of the film, the oldies music set to depressing/intense scenes, the freeze frames, long shots, all beautiful.
I also really liked some more direct homages to films like Goodfellas like with the shot of the Copacabana or any other places from Goodfellas that would logically intersect with the mafia lore of The Irishman. It was funny to see all the actors get back together, now swapping races yet again, shit, DeNiro has now played an Italian, an Irishman, a hick, a Jew, and an Irishman again. Pesci will always play an Italian. It’s a fun film, and a long experience that it’s best to just take in.

His story is actually really solid too The house Jimmy Hoffa was allegedly killed in was close to the restaurant the meeting was meant to be held, a mob owned incinerator was apparantly only a few miles from the house.
Jimmys hair was found in the car that Frank said that jimmy was driven in (although there's no certainy that the hair was from the day jimmy died)

Michael Franzese is an intelligent man - he is articulate, analytical and disciplined. In other words, he ended up in the mob by accident.. guys like that don't need the mob to make money. He could've been a successful businessman, like a hedge fun guy.. I really don't see him as a doctor, but even that he could've and should've been. By the 80s, guys who ended up in the mob, were not your brightest, smartest people.. they were hoodlums who saw it as the only way for them to rise to the top of something OR end up as some petty criminals because they couldn't help themselves. Guys like Michael are more reminiscent of early mob guys like Lucky and Lansky - those also could've been corporate types but back in the 1920s and 1930s, society wasn't allowing guys like that to rise to the top.. by 1980s, guys like that had no obstacles in corporate America.

Talk-supersix-seven it’s bullshit. That was proven to be a lie. Fact is, he never put anyone behind bars. All he did was admit to things he was apart of only admitting himself being a part of it but fingering anyone. The only time he admitted to someone else’s involvement was when those persons had already made their own deals and cooperated. He gave the feds jack shit that out anyone in prison or that was able to be used in a Rico against anyone else. IMO that doesn’t make one a rat, however he did break the cardinal rules of no walking away. He took an oath to be apart of that life for good and as such should have stayed in that life imo. An oath is an oath. On the other hand I understand why he did what he did. Take a look at what was going on at that time..every made guy and his momma were turning government informant and he knew it wasn’t the same life that he had joined. The government has wised up with Rico and guys were to pussy to do the time. I can’t say for sure but I might have thrown in the towel at that time also and left the life (never to rat on anyone) but I’d think
Many men would become disillusioned with the life when you look around and all your friends who took the same oath are disappearing into the witsec program after taking the stand against brothers they’d swarm to never betray. It’s fucked up. To many cowards got made at the end of the day I guess. At any rate I think Michael is a stand up guy, he lives that life on a major scale, he did what he had to do for his family and himself at the end of the day. Salute
