Not true. Lotus is still producing cars in the same factory in Norfolk they've been using since the start, not to mention Caterham, Noble, Ascari, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar and Land Rover.
Lotus is owned by a malaysian company, Caterham is owned by a malaysian, ascari owned by a dutchman, rolls royce by bmw, bentley by volkswagen, jaguar and land rover by tata motors. Noble is the only one that is owned by and headwquarterd in Britain, but its hardly a household name. My point wasn't that they aren't made in the UK, but that the are owned by foreign companies or individuals.
A true classic automobile
Brilliant archive footage.
I remember them well, 18 years old with a mini, we really were the bees knees. Good times.
What a clean and magical part of time.
Made in a time when everything and life was so much simpler
In 1971 I fitted a 1275 cc engine to my 1965 848 cc mini...spun the wheels in 2nd...
A series engine was awesome, I cut my teeth on taking them apart and putting them back together
The last great small car!
Mk2 Cooper S. Just phenomenal!
What an era.
They had to get that footage of Mini prototypes passing (older, split- and oval-window) VWs of course.
Nice old video
Jest jedyny w swoim rodzaju ,jak go nie kochać !!!!
Baby Austin, I like it. Shame BTC ended, now all the cars made in Britain are for foreign companies.

Avant les cônes ,il y’a eu la suspension hydrolastique
I don't remember BMC ever claiming 50mpg.
They didn’t do much testing in the rain then?, couldn’t have failed to notice all the water filling the back of the car up.
