    A few questions for you:
    1) Was staying in their house an option? Would you have done it if it was?
    2) Did they allow you to use their shower and toilet inside?
    3) Was it hard trusting total strangers? I would love to do something like this but the more I read the news, the more paranoid I become.
    4) Was any part of your work exchange not what you expected?
Sorry for all of the questions! I enjoyed watching this video and I always gain so much inspiration from you.

      xthexcolorxredx hi good questions!
      1. No they didn’t have any extra rooms
If they did I think I would have
      2. Yes to both
      3. No there’s reviews on the website from people who’d stayed there previously and when I first met them both I immediately got good vibes from them
      4. I think I really didn’t know what to expect and was kind of open to just doing whatever so yes and no!
      😄

It's Peaceful, Anna. It's like watching Bob Ross paint. I met a guy in Canada, when I was driving to Alaska, that was riding his bicycle to visit his sister in AK. My daughter does couch surfing and has also stayed in some places for free, out of the country, where they teach English. For me, travel is always about connecting to people and the earth. That's what I want to get out of it. I love your videos so much. You are an amazing videographer and and editor. There is presence in your videos. Go back and look at your first videos and this one. You have more light!

I tell ALL vanlifers that they should learn uke songs or other "entertainment" skills (ridiculous sock puppet show?)..... b/c that makes vanlife 80% even better!
My van is tricked out like Vegas on LSD -- gold sequin curtains, xmas lights, etc -- and I do shows INSIDE it, for audiences of 5 -6! (No furniture. Everyone sits on the shag rugs. SUPER cozy. And pillows all around.)
ANYWHERE I GO, I step outside with my tronic uke and battery amp, and i immediately start blowing minds, and quickly ppl throw money at me or chat me up. It's incredible.
I can even just turn on some of the crazy lights in the van and EVERYONE comes up to investigate!
I only do vanlife PART time (wish I could do it full time but I have a real music studio tying me down), but I can go ANYWHERE people are and make them instant friends and fans of mine. That's how ya do it!
Get rid of ALL inhibitions, as strangers love musicians and artists.
(I find most vanlife conversions seem super ANTI-art, hmmm.)

Its a great opportunity to explore. When i finished college and graduate school i backpacked for three months through Europe and north Africa and Turkey. When we travel outside our comfort zone, especially i third world countries we realize more about ourselves. And often how wasteful we can be or taking things we have for granted. You seemed to have learned this on your ventures as well. All the best a d thanks for sharing.

I know this video is already a bit older but I'm so glad I came across it. I'm from Austria, currently volunteering in France for nine months. Basically, I didn't wanna go straight to university after high school and I'm so glad I didn't, it would've been a disaster. Now, finding out about opportunities like these, I am more and more inspired to look into more volunteering programmes and ways I can travel. I still want to go to uni eventually, but I'm still not sure what route I want to take in life exactly and I don't really feel all to stressed about that... also, now all I can think about is how I want nothing more than to help out on a farm for a couple of weeks. Thanks so much for sharing!!

It's human nature to TAKE FOR GRANTED what you have. I also told her she should try to put her voice to all kinds of uses, b/c it's a great voice.
It's tragic that humans don't appreciate what they already have, or things that come too easily to them. My entire life i've had gorgeous gals hitting on me or asking me to kiss them, but I was sworn to celibacy most of my life (b/c i didn't want to be a slave to sex or love) so i WASTED all of it! (Ouch!) Other guys wanted to throttle me b/c I didn't care about what THEY dreamt about each day. (I did feel guilty for wasting my good looks, blah blah blah.) Then I gave up my principles and i really liked having a steady alpha female GF. MY POINT is that it was too easy for me to WASTE what I didn't work for. (My good looks.)
I kind wish I had NOT wasted my looks etc for so long! (age 19 - 29 I didn't kiss etc ANY gals, and boy was it... hard!) (I mean difficult!) I even turned down gals I was super-in-love with! ARGH! But it's nearly impossible to get humans to NOT take things for granted, sigh.

German students get some kind of Gov stipend to work/travel abroad and do work for the community. I learned about it while in Chicago --there were several German students working for a soup kitchen for the monestary I was staying at.

I saw this video back when you first posted it and I thought it was super helpful and I wanted to revisit it.
I've been heavily considering doing a work exchange for a long time because I ultimately want to work for an organic farm-- ideally creating promotional materials and doing communications for it.
Knowing and even participating in how a farm works from sowing seeds and caring for crops to harvesting, packaging and selling the produce would be good for me to experience if I want to promote the products.
With all that being said, do you have any tips on what gear and supplies people should bring if they are going to work a small scale organic farm. What considerations to have, etiquette as a guest worker, insights on things that aren't so obvious? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

@@AnnasAnalysis TIP: if you become a Musician (even just solo uke and songs) you can stay ANYWHERE ON EARTH YOU WANT, free! You'd have all kinds of fans on the web, and you'd post "winter's coming! Anyone have a spare room or couch and want me for a houseguest or petsitter in the WARM SOUTH? I can do dishes and some chores!" and you'll have umpteen offers with cool people. Hop around to a few of them and no more winter! And no expenses! (People LOVE to give musicians free things!)
      ex:
my gf and I stayed in BEVERLY HILLS (!!) ($$$$$) for 3 weeks in the guest house (!) of some FANS who loved our music! (We lived in NYC.) (We've stayed in soooo many people's incredible houses, across the GLOBE (!!), and almost all were strangers who loved our music! NEVER had a bad experience, cuz you can tell their vibes when they offer us a place to spend the nite when we're on tour.)
      ex:
my buddy and I always got booked to do twin ukes ("Bong Island", ha ha) at some big house parties and garden parties, b/c some rich(er) people loved our music. ANY house party they threw, they'd invite us, SOLELY BECAUSE THEY LIKED OUR MUSIC AND JOKES. This is the RULE, not the exception.
If you became a musician, you'd have fans ACROSS THE GLOBE (even if your music was horrible, surprisingly). (!)
Want to spend summer in Paris? Just post it on your FB or whatever. (I hate FB, personally, but it CAN do good if it wants to.)
Want to go to Australia? Thousands of your fans would LOVE to have you spend the winter at their place, or summer or whatever!
(We've even stayed in great places in great cities as pet sitter or house sitter!)
(Again, if you're a musician, you normally get PAID to travel around the world. It's soooo much easier than I'm telling you.)
(NOTE: I TELL EVERYONE TO DO MUSIC. My friends are from all fields, from science to acting to sports and ALL ARE WRONG. If you're smart, you do music, music, music, b/c it's better than everything else combined. You do fashion? THEN DO MUSIC, cuz that's the apex of fashion in music videos etc. YOU WANT TO ACT? Then DO MUSIC, cuz you can act onstage and in music videos and you're your OWN boss! Want to be a writer? DO MUSIC, since lyrics are the most popular literature ever! You may think i'm just haranguing YOU, but I try to point most ppl in the right direction.... b/c I had NO ONE helping me when I was lost!) (%$#@!!)

    2 INSIGHTS:
(I only watched a bit of the video, so I hope I won't look wrong posting these points!)
(And yes, i'm verbose -- but I don't ask any questions b/c I don't expect a reply. I'm just offering advice you can take or leave. I'm VERY good at improving human lives, but many ppl don't like advice or help.)
(To be persuasive, I have to be WORDY, to better explain the "unusual" insights I offer people, in this robot society that is wrong in every way.)
    1)
MUSIC is arguably the most important thing in life. (Love, family, friends, food, etc, will let you down, or even cause your pain and misery, but MUSIC will pick you back up every time.) (Yeah, music lets us down sometimes too, but we just don't listen to those records again!)
It's why MUSIC is in all dance recitals; all sporting events; all tv shows; all movies; restaurants; bars.
It's A MAGICAL DRUG that can do so many things. (It can even stop wars and crime and unite people.)
(EX: If I met PUTIN, I'd hug him and say "I'm a HUGE Deep Purple fan too!" and he'd INSTANTLY love me back, b/c he's a huge Deep Purple fan! People REALLY Unite over things like that.)
(If you're ever t-i-r-e-d, JUST PUT ON SPEED METAL or 1970s DISCO, and that's better than caffiene or anything else to pump you up!) (Try Anthrax's 1985 LP "Spreading The Disease". Catchy-pop speed metal!) (I can't listen to speed metal or disco and be depressed. Ditto B-52s and others. IMPOSSIBLE to listen to them and stay sad!)
The POINT I'm leading up to is... IF YOU LISTEN TO THIS SOMBER, CHILL MUSIC that you have in your videos, YOU WILL BECOME A SOMBER CHILL PERSON.
    MUSIC IS MIND CONTROL.
(If you were listening to The B52s "Rock Lobster" or Van Halen's "Dance The Night Away" or Village People's "YMCA", you'd be so much more JOYFUL in your daily life.)
(If I want to kill myself, Black Sabbath's dreadful "Changes" is shockingly bleak and perfect!)
Angry at the world? Just put on almost anything by Black Sabbath (Not "Changes"!) and they'll commisserate with you and you feel so much better!
JUST SAYING. (You should be much more joyful and happy in your every moment. LIFE IS HARD no matter what. And it's pointless. MUSIC CAN HEAL THAT.)
    2)
AS YOU FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE... another fun idea that is EASY, and you'd be making the world a much better place, and you could make a good living at it.....
....is become a REAL LIFE FIGHTER FOR ANIMALS:
    "SUPER-DUPER-GIRL!"
    a)
make a fun(ny) and bold superhero costume for yourself. (mask or not)
    b)
pick a target and mission (a major corporation that abuses animals but doesn't
need to) (meaning: don't make McD's your FIRST target!).... and MAKE HALF-PAGE
FLYERS with some arguments / facts / shocking details that WILL make them turn
angry against the corporations. (I think it's vile the NYPD has cops on horseback, in a
hellish, crowded, polluted city!!!) (in NYC, there's been a war for the past 7 years about freeing the horses in servitude hauling CARRIAGES thru Central Park and midtown traffic. We're getting closer and closer to ending this wrong.)
    c)
I can give you all sorts of EASY STEPS, like.... target a store or HQ, and ALERT THE LOCAL
PRESS IN ADVANCE that THE BATTLE OF THE SEASON IS HERE! SUPER-DUPER GIRL... VERSUS THE EVILDOERS OF [the company THIS one-day-protest is against]!" THE PRESS WILL LOVE IT, b/c they love conflict. (You should even have a THEME SONG / JINGLE, that you can get ppl to sing. Ask for more details.)
    d)
IT'LL BE FUN PUBLICITY STUNT BUT ALSO GENUINELY EXPOSE WRONG-DOING BY MAJOR CORPORATIONS.
(EX: Super-Duper-Girl emails the press to say "i'm TAKING ON MARK ZUCKERBURG! FRIDAY, JUNE 4th! AT FB HQ! Super-Duper-Girl will STAMP OUT HIS EVIL!" Your short PRESS RELEASE and Flyers you pass out at each protest, would EXPLAIN YOUR MISSION: "unlike most websites, Fascistbook FORCES its customers to use their real, legal names -- NO SCREENNAMES ALLOWED -- which literally endangers the lives of umpteen females on FB, as any stalker, harasser, rapist, kidnapper can easily track the gal down because she was forced to give out her REAL name! I WILL PUT A STOP TO THIS! YES WE CAN MAKE FB ALLOW EVERYONE TO USE A SCREENNAME IF THEY CHOOSE! REMEMBER MY MOTTO: THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!")
(Ha: the police WILL be called on you by some of these companies.... BUT YOU MAKE SURE you do these things where there's people all around -- b/c EVERYONE will have their cell phone cameras on the cute gal in the superhero costume, who claims she is SUPER-DUPER-GIRL fighting evil -- it would all be very PLAYFUL and funny, but serious too. When the police arrive to try and get you to leave [but you would be on PUBLIC property most of the time, like sidewalks], YOU WOULD ANNOUNCE "THANK YOU FOR COMING TO ASSIST ME, OFFICERS! THERE ARE CRIMINALS IN THIS BUILDING AND WE MUST STOP THEM FROM THEIR LIFE OF CRIME!")
(You could humiliate everyone from Big Tobacco to Big Pharma to NYC's endless Animal Auschwitz where they kill umpteen stray dogs and cats every day!) (BUT NYC won't pay for free spaying and neutering, of course!)
ALL YA GOTTA DO IS WEAR A FUN COSTUME, PASS OUT FLYERS, AND CAUSE A LITTLE RUCKUS.
Takes ONE hour! ("Sunlight Is The Best Disinfectant") You could even become a big celebrity, where just an email from SUPER-DUPER-GIRL gets press across the nation, vs some Evil Goliath, and the company changes its policies rather than have you show up outside their HQ where they'll get terrible press and everyone will side with Super-Duper-Girl!
PLUS, no one needs to know your SECRET (real) IDENTITY!
    HA!
And you could easily get zillions of people to donate to your cause, so you can FIGHT EVIL EVERY DAY!
Any ONE person can change the world a million different ways. It's easier than anyone thinks.
(No, I'm not a hypocrite. I do super-heroic stunts EVERY DAY.) (The Press USED to do zillions of stories on me across the world... but Mike Bloomberg stole billions from NYC Mass Transit, to shift to the press as Hush Money, er, corp welfare, so 100% of the press STOPPED writing about all my great stunts etc. I'm a good looking dude with long hair, but NO ONE can compete with a pretty gal. No contest. You

Oh, please notice that the NAME "Super-Duper-Girl" works really well, bc it instantly says you're going to be FUN and FUNNY as you fight evil It's a little silly and playful and EVERYONE likes that.
      (Superman was boring!)
(Being silly / ridiculous is VERY important. That's why most ppl's fave holiday is Halloween. You don't get to dress like an idiot on Thanskgiving! And everyone ELSE is dressed like an idiot too! YAY!)
(FUN FACT: When Amerikkka's Henry Kissinger was slaughtering women and children in Vietnam in the 1960s, and the press FINALLY started asking him about it, he would ALWAYS MAKE A JOKE about how, "yes, we're killing everything that moves!" and ALL the reporters would laugh and say "Henry is so funny!" and let it slide that he was A MASS MURDERING WAR CRIMINAL who has warrants out for his arrest across the globe, but Amerikkka protects him.)
(MY POINT is you can even get away with war crimes and mass murder, AS LONG AS YOU MAKE IT FUN.)

.. no the last video before this one should have been a pros and cons of van life where i say I'm in fresno and before that a live stream from crescent city california. my vlog in seattle was filmed close to two months ago and posted over a month ago.

Emma Kauffman I only came back about two weeks earlier than planned but I did so because I felt I wasn’t really growing from van life as I was before and didn’t feel inspired in the space and therefore didn’t feel motivated to do the things that I usually really want to do!

that girl is wonder woman no doubt

    • @umpygoodness2369
      @umpygoodness2369 5 років тому

funny you say that, cuz I suggested above that she should BECOME a real "super-hero" because she seems to care about Animal Rights and other injustices like that. I told her she should make a funny costume and call herself "SUPER-DUPER-GIRL" and she goes and protests evildoers (like major corporations that mistreat animals).
You don't need to be able to fly or smash bricks to STOP EVIL!

    • @umpygoodness2369
      @umpygoodness2369 5 років тому

also, she's going to find her beauty to be a HEADACHE most of her life.... (grass is greener on the other side) (Pretty people are usually even more unhappy than ugly people are, b/c everyone wants a piece of the pretty people)......so she may as well USE IT FOR GOOD... taking on evil companies or politicians that abuse animals.
      EX:
if she were in a costume, as a pretty gal superhero, she could easily get the NYPD to stop putting cops on horseback. It's a MORONIC thing that wastes gobs of taxpayers. EVERYONE will back her up, even the politicians of NYC, rather than take on the pretty gal superhero everyone loves.
