I've had my overlander for over 2 years now. It has been very disappointing. If it can do more than I'm getting out of it I would like to know!! So doing a video on showing how to get more out of it would be nice!! Trying to find what you are looking for is very hard!!! I found that Google map is better and faster. For off-roading than overlander is.
I’m interested in this product, but I’m not savy about these GPS units. I have no understanding how to use my iPhone out in the boondocks even. Tried it. Nadda. I am used to using paper maps only. But like the idea of a womens Ai voice telling where to go- at 65 I’m highly trained and qualified now... 🖐🏿🤕
What if one doesn’t have a lighter socket available for the power adaptor? Is there any other adaptor option to power and charge the device in vehicle?
Good Day What is the difference between the Garmin Overlander Navigator and the Garmin Montana 700i , I believe there is more detail on the Garmin Montana 700i
When is garmin adding an engine monitor / scanner adapter that’s compatible with the tread? Seems like the obvious option to have for an overlander setup? Garmin has the tech for it. Just shocked it’s not already out there or part of the package deal really.
$700? Missing 70% of trails, no campsite offerings for boondocking, no distinction between BLM/Forestry/Park and private land, can't download maps by itself on a cellular wifi connection, no over mapping options, only 64gb of memory (for $700 it should be at least 250gb), device should have at least a portable capability with at least 16 hours of battery life, dash cam with 4K and park mode. $700 is optimistic even if it's designed like a toughbook. It's got $400 features for a price tag of $700. Which is why it's not selling like it could be.
For example, I wanted to go to a popular trail like Black Bear pass. Would i be able to select a turn by turn off the device? Or would i have to download something to get that? Im talking turn by turn on the trail.
If I were going to get a Garman 890 for RVing would it be better to get a Garman Overland? I do like to find Boon docking sits. I do have a F-350 4X4. Thank you John
Hi, can I know if the audio in the "drive" function is only in English language? If it is possible to set it another language, can you suggest me how to do it? Thank you
Thank you for your question. Try the below link on "Changing the Voice Language on an Automotive Device". I hope this helps. support.garmin.com/?faq=ZI55SS06cW04To2wsl3z6A&productID=685257&searchQuery=language&tab=topics
I've had the overlander since last February and still can't get the device to recognize the SD card or any gpx file on that card. Yes I've called tech support and nothing but voicemail come up, no one has ever called me back. As it stands right now I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Thank you for your question. We offer two different traffic receivers for the Overland, but the GTM 60 is an HD Digital Traffic Receiver. With HD Digital Traffic, you'll have more coverage in more areas and faster reporting times. The part number is 010-01031-00. I hope this helps.
Hey Garmin there is a lot of room for improvement here, you could make yourself the go to source for product info rather than other you tubers. I can help!
Thank you for your question. That mount was permanently attached to the dash with our handheld mount. You can find all of our mounting options from the following link. I hope this helps. buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/592606#accessories
Can I create a route using Google my Maps, export it as a .KML file into the Garmon overland and get turn by turn directions? The Nation Park Service has 30 National Historic Trails which they have PDF maps only of the current roads which most closely follow the historic roadbed. It would be great to use Google my maps to create turn by turn driving directions for these historic trails.
@@GarminRetailTraining Thanks for the reply. Another question: is this battery field replaceable? I have a Garmin 680T and one of the things I like about it is the ability replace batteries (or even install disposable AA batteries) in the field if it runs out of power. Very nice capability to have if you are out in the middle of nowhere and the battery goes dead. It would be nice if the Overlander had this capability.
Understand this is a Garmin Ad, but I really get especially annoy when clear misleading information is promoted If you(Garmin) already use 32GB of data that means I have 32GB I can use not 64GB…
Most frustrating product, I have ever bought. Then come to this training video. And it's more of the same (waste of my time). I have spent hours trying to make a first trip plan on gamin explorer map. And now can't figure out how to get it to load the dam thing. (Old and frustrated)
Sorry to hear you are having troubles getting your data synced. There are a few different ways to get your GPX files from the Explore app to the Overlander. Below is a link to our support site and instructions on how to sync your data with the Overlander. If you would rather talk with someone directly, please reach out to our Product Support team at 800-800-1020 and they will be happy to assist. We’ll Garmin, congratulations on tricking us. “Everything…to know” and “training”… so misleading. You don’t even show the product, turn it on, or anything! Should have been titled”brief overview.” I may not buy now.
$700 bucks and you still have to buy a $300 InReach Mini? Who is going to stupid enough to spend $1,000 on this setup when you can have Gaia GPS or HEMA on a cheap Android or iOs tablet (that you can also use for other purposes).
Our top priority is our customer's safety, this drives us to create the highest quality products on the market. We understand there are cheaper products, but we don't believe in less reliable equipment.
Too much corporate yepbyap, when well u learn to have the software guy program flight tested and nit noid bugs worked out. And customer user friendly not software guy goof ball ops.

Thanks for being part of the Virtual Overland Expo Summer 2020!
nicely done, Im uploading a long term review of this unit today.

Title of this video should be "Far From" everything you need to know....
Looks like a great product. The price is a bit out of my range, though. Bring it down to $400 and I'll jump at one.

Super overview

I live ouside of america. If i buy can i use openstreet map in this device ?
Can I connect a Inmarsat sat 2.1 phone to it?
If I were going to get a Garman 890 for RVing would it be better to get a Garman Overland?
I do like to find Boon docking sits. I do have a F-350 4X4.
Thank you

Sell the F-350, unless you're using it to haul a Jeep...JK

Which traffic data cable works best with the overlander

So this is everything I need to know? I expected a bit more of that video.

How is the Inreach mini mounted in this video / quite like the setup
Thank you for your question. That mount was permanently attached to the dash with our handheld mount. You can find all of our mounting options from the following link. I hope this helps. buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/592606#accessories

I didn't hear anything about a battery. Does the unit just switch off when you take it out of the car?
Thank you for your question. Yes, the Overlander does have an internal battery that lasts up to 3hrs.

It would be nice if the Overlander had this capability.
Great question. The Overlander has an internal, rechargeable lithium ion battery, and is not user replaceable.

He didn't mention anything about weather durability if its out in the rain. I usually have the top off my Jeep.
Thank you for your question. The Overlander device is not water-resistant and should not be exposed to water.
This is just a simple scripted advert. There's nothing here resembling "training" and the title is just click-bait for the advert.
i went to sleep listening to mono tone Don..........
Mostly useless. First 1:30 minutes were a complete waste of time. At no point did they actually show the GPS.

Garmin Retail Training yeah obviously one can’t put it any faith in the cheaper iPad 😂
