2:45 Thats called a ''spider crab.'' In New York in Coney Island theres a crap load of those all over the place and they go where they want whether it be in a crap net or on the line on a pole. And since there is so many of them some of the drunks smash them in. They are pests over here. :P.
Cool. I had no idea what that thing was. Never seen one before. Here in maryland we have the horseshoe and blue crabs, but nothing like that creepy thing!
We had a coupon for that pier, but since we were short on time we went to Cherry Grove, it was closer. I hear the in season fishing is pretty good from all the piers along the grand strand.
Will do, we heard a lot of birds in South Carolina, called a few in, but couldn't close the deal. Plan on continuing the hunt when our season opens here for a public land longbeard. We do have a great turkey hunt where my wife killed her first bird in Colorado last spring posted on our channel.
+Rob Raminsh That is a hard question. It depends on what you are fishing for. The best bet would to be asking the guy in the tackle store when you get the bait what he suggests. I've found you can't go wrong with a piece of squid when fishing in the saltwater though.
I use a bunch of squid on the bottom of my line as a smell and chum source, Then above that i float a large piece of mullet above that on line line. I always catch shark doing this. Had a 5 footer last month. II walked to the end of the pier with him on, tossed my pole over the fence since you cant shark fish and reel them in shore.
Hey Mike' Are you allowed to use the croakers as bait for maybe Fluke or Stripers? I know a doormat fluke would suck those croakers right down. I used to use snappers as fluke bait and oh my did they catch a beating from fluke. Keep on Fishing buddy. Talk to you soon. Great fun vid as always.
We plan to get back on the water soon! I have no idea about the croakers for bait there, one reason it didn't wind up on a hook. Now that Matt got married, I'm negotiating with the wife about a trip down to Lanier, won't be over the summer, perhaps the fall, but defiantly by next spring if your still up for it...
I have a great spot on the Chesapeake near the city of Deale. You dont need to pay like a pier, its a little shallower water but ive caught nice perch, big croaker, drum at the spot. If theres any other way to contact you i can five you the spot, id just rather not share it now for the comments section to see. :P Good luck!
Totally agree. We don't release locations publicly either. Too many areas get ruined that way. I would have loved to fish this particular pier in season. They catch King and Spanish Mackerel, even Tarpon from Cherry Grove. You can always contact me privately using the "contact us" section of our Camochair Productions website, find the link to that on our channel homepage here at UA-cam.
awesome vid!!
Great video!
Thanks! It was fun even if the fishing hasn't kicked into gear really well yet. Would love to fish that pier a little later in the season for sure!
