Also, they changed some stuff narratively where they shouldn’t

Exactly. Which is why I get annoyed when people think this is normal for the character of Batman. It isn’t. He isn’t casually shattering the femurs of purse snatchers, or driving around in a tank and peppering dudes with rubber bullets. The whole point is that it’s an extreme take and not the status quo. But a lot of writers just seem to copy this and expect it to work, when it’s uniqueness and drastic shift was part of the reason it worked in the first place. I don’t want to constantly see a Batman who’s almost unhinged and a second away from snapping. I miss when he could be a troubled and tormented soul, but still have plenty of mental stability. Been a long time since I’ve seen these DKR movies but I remember really enjoying them. As a fan of the comic, I couldn’t really ask for a better adaptation. I’m kinda with you on the Mutants and their speech, though. Anytime someone tries to insert in-canon slang, and then have characters use it relentlessly, it always comes off as jarring. One thing about the graphic novel, it gets progressively uglier. Earlier images and drawings of Batman are much more colorful and better drawn, then as the book goes on it gets more crude and depressing, especially once Batman switches from the blue/yellow costume to the black/gray one. I don’t know if that was time constraints or intentional on Frank Miller’s part, but it’s interesting either way. Great video, you’ve gotta Return to the Dark Knight Returns!
TDKR is a pretty edgy story and I stand by that this has done irreperable damage to the modern image of how Batman is adapted, but I still really enjoy this movie and find it to be one of DC's best animated films with the voice acting, animation, and writing
Yeah the problem is that people don't understand that the edginess was on purpose. This is NOT supposed to be the best Batman. This is an old, obsessed Bruce Wayne. Full of repressed anger and having to resort to extreme violence to make up for his lack of agility in his old age. While, like you (Vee), I very much appreciated the kind of Batman story it was and its content on paper, it's signature art style (that only gets worse in "TDKSA," trust me) was always an obstacle in my enjoyment of the graphic novel. However, I agree that this is such an excellent ADAPTATION in that (for me) it's just enough the look of the comic to be recognizable, but is put through a certain (Bruce Timm) filter that makes it not only more palatable, I'd say even aestheticly pleasing. I also actually love the voice cast for this one, with Peter Weller's Batman being a standout, with also a really great and different Joker and a quite good Superman, as well. I'm glad you like the movie and I am enjoying your breakdown review of it. Something regarding the mutants that you may not be privy to is that Frank Miller when he was writing this the comic. The area he lived in had a gang so all of these words and phrases that the mutants use were actual gang terms that were being used around the city. That's also something that is quite common even to this day to keep cops and other law enforcement from knowing what you're doing was to speak in code.
Not watching these two movies is literally criminal, part two is even better imo. I feel like part two could even make you like these voice actors, the guy they get for Clark is amazing and Bruce pops off.
The one time I liked the Mutant speak if when Batman broke that ones arm and he IMMEDIATELY drops the fake accent and all the slang and just turns into a scared teenage boy. Just shows they're basically just kids trying to sound tough

Robocop voicing an old Batman makes him sound way more powerful and rememberable.
Return to the dark knight returns , and more batman videos over all , keep up the good work vee!!
I was born in the 70's. This original comic was amazing. I feel this animated version, to be simply the best. My view but man.
Your channel came up in my feed and I've been binge watching all of your videos, which is funny cause I was wondering when you were gonna review this movie as well! Needless to say Id love to see your review on Part 2
I'm sure this has already been said, but how could Vee Infuso not mention the quote "This isn't a mud hole. It's an operating table...and I'm the surgeon."
The way you talked about how they looked slayed me for some reason
I'm glad you like the movie and I am enjoying your breakdown review of it. Something regarding the mutants that you may not be privy to is that Frank Miller when he was writing this the comic. The area he lived in had a gang so all of these words and phrases that the mutants use were actual gang terms that were being used around the city. That's also something that is quite common even to this day to keep cops and other law enforcement from knowing what you're doing was to speak in code.
This has been my daughters favorite Batman movie sense she was 4, I’m a great father.
pls do a part 2 pls and also pls do a ranking for all the batsuits so far
Not watching these two movies is literally criminal, part two is even better imo. I feel like part two could even make you like these voice actors, the guy they get for Clark is amazing and Bruce pops off.
and return to the dark knight returns 🙄
Return to the Dark knight returns
love the batman videos, return to the dark knight returns for sure
YES FINALLY HES TALKING ABOUT IT LETS GO!!
I loved this vid very entertaining
Return to the Dark Knight Returns. That movie was way more chaotic than the first one!
The tunnel of love scene traumatized me as a kid
Please do a part 2!
This is one of the best looking DC animated movies with great animation, imo.
The final fight in part 1 with the main theme ending it was just breathtaking to watch! Return to the dark knight returns!
The one time I liked the Mutant speak if when Batman broke that ones arm and he IMMEDIATELY drops the fake accent and all the slang and just turns into a scared teenage boy. Just shows they're basically just kids trying to sound tough
return to the dark knight returns
One thing you left out - the Batmobile. Love it or hate it, this massive Bat-Tank was unforgettable.
He's thick because he's super buff and because it's Frank Miller's art style
Please watch part 2 vee infuso I agreed with everything you said and you actually put it into words I could use in explaining my love for this movie and critics of it. I can't wait for this and your spoiler version of the batman 2022
