I can relate. I had a twenty year sentence as well and God brought me through (released early ). So happy to see your mom’s reaction. My mother passed away before I got a chance to see her but I was reunited with the rest of my family. It is a bit unfortunate that some people were bothered about your release. From a different perspective I clearly understand what you are saying but with my entire family I disowned then altogether. Theres no reason to hang around people who only love you because of what you can give to the, yet they cannot make me a cup of tea even when I provided all the ingredients. Sad to say but some families need to be put aside and embrace strangers instead because sometimes they are far better than my own family.

We have all had a hard time with Covid just for the past 9 months. We were devastated when mom canceled Thanksgiving. To see you seeing your mom for the first time in 20 years!!!! This was a gift. At the age of my son did 17 years when he came home that was my joy to see my son and I can say I always tell my son you home stay home now he have a family 2 jobs driving l made sure I tell him the past is the past God gave you a second chance and you took it and I love you unconditionally and I will always be here for you thank God he on the right track one thing I try to drill in his head you have a daughter now because you don't want another ma taking care your daughter

I cried, my grandma was poor our whole family was when I was a child and my mom's little brother was a bad 16 year old, and he was in and out of jail till he finally went to prison with the big dogs. Well they gave him 16 year's when he was 16 my grandma prayed everyday to be able to see her one and only son the baby of 3 girl's, but she didn't she passed away year's before he got out. So basically she never say him again he's out now but he never saw her again! Sad story here I hope everything is well for them. Gosh 😢

What a wonderful moment, there’s a lot of pain under that joy. I hope the community supports him in orienting and integrating into a world vastly different from the one he knew before incarceration. He may have culture shock and will need to learn the digital literacy necessary to navigate life now. When he gets email and a phone, he’s going to need to learn how to protect himself from devious online and call center scammers. He’ll have to learn financial literacy and self-management so he doesn’t fall into debt traps. He’ll have to be secure enough not to try to compete with other men his age, be content, and be kind to himself. I wish him and his mum a safe and happy future.
