You have to remember that was a Tom Landry training camp and Landry was famous for finding UDFA’s. This was pre internet days and Bates kept showing up in the preseason games. #43 reminds me of Bates as I keep saying who is #43, and how come I have not heard about him before? Kemon Hall is his name, and he has a decent shot to make this squad.
Zeke needs the same advice as Bryan gives Deuce. Pollard had success because he would hit the crease hard before the D-linemen could free their hands. The "patience" Zeke started using when Leveon Bell was all the rage is what ruined Zeke.
Also, they don’t have to put guy (like Edoga on initial roster first before moving to IR They have 2 players they can put on IR and designate to bring back before cutting rosters down
Bobby...Waletzko had NO sacks and NO pressures the whole game...include against Crosby...I don't care what it looked like if our backup was able to accomplish that against a top NFL edge...

Someone’s gotta explain Hunter lupke to me because I just don’t get it, he hasn’t really done anything for this team except have one good preseason game and yet every time I hear people talk about him he’s just unequivocally on the team to the point where he gets to sit during preseason and not even fight for a spot. Not sure why you would leave a guy like deuce off this team whose shiftiness offers you something that this team is lacking for a guy like Hunter lupke whose role was probably filled with the Zeke signing

I watched him be a stud RB for NDSU they might use him in short yardage situations. For example 4th and short maybe he is FB they play fake and he runs to the flat to catch the ball. He can catch, block, and even run the rock when needed. That’s his value he offers.
It’s really as simple as McCarthy likes having a FB on the team…and he’s the only FB on the roster!! He didn’t start off well as a lead blocker, but got better during the season!! They expect him (based on what they’ve seen all offseason) to take that proverbial leap that most players make in their second year!!! He can also run the ball, he can catch it and he already proved to be a good special teams player!!! And if Deuce doesn’t make the 53…he’ll most definitely get a spot on the practice squad!! He’ll get another shot this year!!
Duece is the Second best (and potentially the best with Barry Sanders Ability) RB on this team.. how you don’t have him on the roster as a draft pick too knowing the cowboys is insane. Same for Flournoy
Goodwin probably has a deal in place to re-sign with the practice squad after cuts, freeing up a roster spot They will then elevate him to team the maximum 3x weeks 1,2,3 and then see how the roster has shaken out with injuries as they will probably sign him to the 53 at that point

Passing defense was bad Bates has ZERO INTS, ZERO forced fumbles ot fumble recovery, but 2.5 sacks 87, we went 7-9, ranked 27th vs the pass,( of 28 teams, c'mon man) 6th vs the run ( cuz you could throw on us) he had 3 Ints, 3 sacks- Good. But teams threw for a ton of yds and TDS. '88, we went 3-13, Bates had 1 int, half a sack, Again ..pass defense ranked 27th, of 28 teams. Gave up 30 Pass TD's vs 10 Ints, Bates had 1. Teams had 58 passes Over 20 yds, gave up 15 pass plays Over 40 yds And it wasn't even a passing league then. Dude what are you talking about?
I highly doubt they keep Malik Davis…..it’s not that he isn’t talented but I think they will go Zeke, Dowdle, Luepke and Deuce at RB. Davis has been on the practice squad many times and no one has ever claimed him when he’s been cut or been on the practice squad, they shouldn’t have any problem getting him back if they keep Deuce and he doesn’t work out.
