That is true, some are amazing. Although, I have my moments of missing adult books haha. If I wasn't set on pre-reading or connecting with my MGs over books I'd probably have a wider variety, but I'm okay with the middlegrades for now lol. :D
Code Talker is one of my youngest son's favorite books. We first listened to it when he was 6 or 7. He's probably read it a dozen times since then. Miracle on Maple Hill was a favorite book of mine.

I pre-read a lot of the books so that I can recommend for my daughter as well. You have amazing recommendations! Love your middle school recommendations. I need to check out Code Talker. My daughter really enjoyed A Boy at War when we were reading WWII. We also read GI Joe and Lilly - it's a biography and we enjoyed it, but definitely for older ages. Murder on the Orient Express is on my list, too. A couple of summers ago, I read Woman on the Orient Express. It took me far too long to realize it was about Agatha Christie (🤣 🤦🏻♀️). It's been on my list since then but, like you said, shiny new object. This summer I'm determined. I'd recommend Woman on the Orient Express! I also just finished the Mystery of Mrs. Christie & it was really good, too.

Okay, so I watched this video the other day and was going to comment, but one if my kids needed me. I ended up getting Matched off libby because I've been on a dystopian reading kick and when you mentioned divergent I knew I needed to read it because I love that serious! Well, I just fished matched today and it was so good! Thanks for sharing!
