In English it is called " I'm Gob Smacked"
It means Your Jaw is Dropped with Shock.

"Point the mirror at ourselves. We're all part of this old money game." That is why he decided to set fire to himself here. Apparently it was vegetable oil he poured on himself. The lyric version of part two is next. You will understand more after watching the lyric version.

This entire thing was guerilla shot with 5 people. Ren, Roman on guitar, Sam as the DP, a steady cam operator, and an assistant to pull focus on the camera. It took 180ish takes over like 4 sessions to get the one good take, and Ren and Sam kept rewriting it on the fly.

Make sure you do official lyric video for part 2 as the other version is just half the song

Your reaction is exactly what mine was the first time I saw this video. The suspense and undercurrent of violence had me on pins and needles. I was shocked when the main character self immolated but more relieved that he left the hostage alone. The two characters represent ideas more than real people. ❤

Guys, do part II. It's completely different, you'll enjoy it. You must do the official video, it's a lyric video.

Here's my take; along with factual statements made by Ren & others, on the messaging & performative aspects of Money Game Parts 1,2 & 3. Hope this helps you in absorbing the overall message Ren is portraying.✌❤
Part 1: is in the similar format of Ren's Tale of Jenny & Screen trilogy & Hi Ren, which can be considered live performance pieces that are shot in 1 take.🤯 Ren has commented that this was his first attempt at this style of one take video production & it took them over 140 takes to get this shot right with all the choreography & music involved to flow seamlessly. In essence, Ren is introducing everyone to all the hypocrisy in the west & the seeds that have been sown around the world that created this money game & how we all live blind to it with a metaphorical money bag tied around our heads. 💰🤑💰Ren portrays the character of Judge, jury & executioner for those who are blinded by the money game & the corruption that steams from all the greed of those who are involved in it. He even draws eyes on the bagman to help him see the errors of himself & society. When Ren attempts to carry out the final death sentence, the bagman's eyes reflect back to Ren his own complacency in this MG (Hold the mirror to ourselves, we're all part of this old money game). The end carries a double meaning, 1) like a Buddhist Monk he burns himself in effigy as protest & 2) This act of burning represents how we are all, as a society, just dooming ourselves in the end like Ren's lyrics conveyed (As the world turns, the whole world burns).
Part 2: is a studio recording with Ren & his videographer Samuel Perry-Falvey creating an artistic lyric video to assist in the messaging/storytelling. Pt.2 shows the money game through the narrower lens of corporate greed & government corruption & its effects on our present day society.🔥🔥I won't get to descriptive here, but it's much less abstract in its presentation & easier to absorb & decipher as an audience member.
Part 3: Is Ren's magnum opus, once again returning to his one shot live performance format with Samuel Perry-Falvey behind the lens, but this time on a grander scale then anything they've attempted to date. Ren has even stated that this video in scale & technicality was his most ambitious project yet. Ren wraps up this trilogy telling us the life story of a single fictional character named "Jimmy" who was raised from birth in this money game mentality & therefore tightening the focus even more on this MG. Instead of just singing the hook "Point the mirror at ourselves, we're all part of this old money game" he chooses to bring the mirror to life & show us through the life of Jimmy's & everyone around him who have their own money bags tied around there heads, exactly where the pursuit of this MG leads. 🤯🤯
Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber shared Money Game 3 on his Instagram and said Ren is one of the best storytellers he has seen in a very long time. Film maker Jonathan Hiller was blown away by the story, as well as the cinematography & choreography Ren & Sam created. By the end of the video Jonathan say's "This is the genius of Ren, by the end of the video his art transcends into a spiritual realm. Ren's use of negative space is captivating & MG3 was utterly transformative".
Hope this helps & we can't wait to see MG2 to complete this trilogy. Cheers guys. 🥂

A simplified version of part 1 came to me. The guitarist is a citizen, Ren is the system. The system oppresses the citizens with constant random threats.
But then what happens when the system burns?

Great synopsis, well done!! Very few people get the symbolism and reference to the burning monk, which is a moniker I don't prefer, but I also understand it is one that is recognized globally and I don't think people use it with any disrespect intended. Since he is someone who I greatly admire and have studied, let me share a very brief summary of what he stood for and why we should remember his bravery......
His name was Thích Quảng Đức, a South Vietnamese Buddhist monk, in the years leading up to The Vietnam War, South Vietnam had a U.S. backed President that outlawed all religion except for Catholicism, when the Buddhist celebrated Buddha's birthday, their biggest holiday, unrest broke out and 4 monks and 3 civilians were killed my the military in the scuffle. Two days later hundreds of Buddhist monks and 100 Catholic nuns supporting the monks returned to the location, to protest the new govt. and it's rules, and that is where Quảng Đức self immolated. It is said that just beforehand he got into the deepest meditative state that is taught to Buddhist monks anywhere in the world, and that the entire time his body was burning, he did didn't make a single sound, or flinch a single muscle, until he took his last breath and his body slumped over from deterioration of his muscle mass. It is said the Pulitzer Prize winning photo of Quảng Đức after he is on fire (if anyone reading this googles this incident, there is color photos and video of the self immolation that are very graphic, so trigger warning to anyone that is easily disturbed by such images) is the first viral photo ever, pre digital age, with a copy placed on President Kennedy's desk less than 24hrs after it was taken, and on the front page of newspapers globally in less than 48hrs, remember, this was 1963, an overseas phone call was the newest cutting edge technology.
Just as the raised fist was internationally known for standing up and fighting oppression, made popular in the West with the U.S. civil rights movement and Black Panthers, the "burning monk" image became an international symbol for peaceful resistance to oppression through self sacrifice. That is why Rage Against The Machine chose the image for the cover of their debut album in 1993, and Ren has stated many times that RATM was a big influence on him growing up, so I'm almost certain he knows of Thích Quảng Đức's story, and even though he's never mentioned it directly in any interview I've seen, I'm pretty sure the symbolism at the end of MG1 was a nod to RATM and Thích Quảng Đức himself. What do you all think?? If ya got this far, thanks for reading, take care! ✌️💚

This is a one-take. Sam the videographer said “again like with money game we ended up doing like 186 takes to get that right oh my God” in an interview along with Ren and Black Pegasus (ua-cam.com/video/eWf7bT_jf6U/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared&t=5484)

    I agree, so suspenseful.
And you are interpreting it well. Watch all three, along with Sick Boi and you'll narrow your conclusions.

The end was a symbolic nod to Rage Against The Machine and Thích Quảng Đức, a South Vietnamese Buddhist monk, who self immolated in 1963, pre Vietnam war, in protest of the new South Vietnamese, U.S. backed, president who outlawed all religions other than Catholicism. RATM used the image on the cover of their debut album in 1993 and Ren is a huge admirer of the band, and directly references them and the lead singer, Zack, in "Love Music Part 3" and on his dis track to King Dotta.

Just and FYI, you're referring to Thích Quảng Đức, a South Vietnamese Buddhist monk, who self immolated in 1963, pre Vietnam war, in protest of the new South Vietnamese, U.S. backed, president who outlawed all religions other than Catholicism, it wasn't about war.
