This is currently my most viewed video on my channel. Being a class project, I wasn't expecting it to be received as much or taken as seriously. That being said, if you all would be interested in a documentary about natural hair that's more focused on content let me know.
Thank you so much for this video👏🏾🤗😊. It’s been almost 14 months on my loc journey😎. My baby locs are now wild teens 😂. Our hair is beautiful! Nothing dreadful about it😌
Does she have locs beneath the braids?? I’m confused. I mean, if she does that’s cool. I just think it would have been a better idea to rock her locs for the interview.
You are missing the point; Although the video is purely about locs, I believe it is also important to showcase the versatility that locs have to offer. To answer your question: Yes, I did have my locs in braids! Great question darling!
You are missing the point; Although the video is purely about locs, I believe it is also important to showcase the versatility that locs have to offer. To answer your question: Yes, I she did have her locs in under! Great question darling!
Perhaps if you state that within the scope of your narration, it would not be missed. Thanks for the clarification. Locs have so much diversity within themselves; hiding them under wigs or faux locs is certainly the wearers choice, but not really a characteristic of the locs themselves. Maybe in your next project, you could showcase how unique and varied the locs themselves can attain. I saw the most amazing loc petal fro on someone who had waist-length locs...now THAT was versatility! Keep up the good work...creating is not easy!
From the comments I can tell that a lot of people don’t know that you can still achieve different hairstyles while having your locs in . Protective styling doesn’t have to stop when ppl start their loc journey. Thank you for this video! 💕💕💕
I love to see beautiful and intelligent black people embrace their natural selves. I've been growing my locs for a year and 3 months and I love the meaning and history behind them. Great video!
This is needed for the culture. The sister with the red glasses and honey fro was speaking facts and inspiration. Struggling with my natural hair myself. A true Queen. ❤
Goddess Jnu.. Go for it!!! I'm a big fan of his also. I started mine at 55yo!!! I had been wearing the "almost bald" look since my 30s so it was hard not to cut my hair off. I'll be 70 next month God willing! I haven't twisted it in ages so its freeforming now lol. Remember not a lot of products. Use natural oils to moisturize n twist. Don't twist often or tight. It damages your locs. God bless you on your loc journey. I bet their beautiful. One Love😊
Our hair is our glory, that’s why we get so much attention everywhere we go. Natural hair is the best way to go, other cultures love our hair. Our ppl need to embrace their naturalness, it’s beautiful.
Wow! Is that Zay locs???? I've been subscribed to his UA-cam channel for years before he started free forming. Is the owner the same young lady who used to own a salon in Germany? When I was loose natural I wanted to go to her when I lived there but she had just moved back to the states. One of my friends was able to go her in Germany before she closed her shop. Small world. Awesome documentary. I love my locs. I had my first set for 5 years and when I moved to Europe, I cut them for various reasons but I quickly grew my hair out and loced again and I don't think I'll cut them again. I feel my most beautiful with locs.
Ppl fail to realize that you can still style your hair with locs, it just won’t take as much time and energy. which I think is a good thing. Don’t get them if you don’t think you’re going to stay committed.
This cool little documentary. I never thought that deep into locs. My hair locked on it’s on cause I kept twisted it every two weeks so it would not matte up. My afro matts up so bad, so i had no options but to twist it cause relaxers thin my hair too much.
I would love a follow up to see if everyone in this video is still locked and ask them the same questions over again. Especially about employment. I have locs and it has never stopped me from getting a job. But I think these young adults are students, so it would be nice to see an update.
I know I'm late seeing this video but the lady wearing the red glasses gave an excellent interview. Thank you for Sharing this on YT. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😉😉😉😉😉❤️❤️❤️
Man it's so great to see people like this young woman do what they love and through that love for what they do change their community and the world around them positively. Really cool mini-documentary
🤔I’m confused 🤔 Why would you make a documentary about locs when the two women are hiding their locs. I understand people hide under other styles, but if they are not proud enough to wear their own hair why are they on a documentary. No disrespect, but the purpose of documentaries is to show love for locs.
The young lady with the "poetic justice Janet Jackson" braids or maybe they're jumbo twist and the young lady with the wig on I'm confused are they thinking about getting locs?
Aisha Nicole From the other comments, the girl with the braids has her locs braided under, and those are crochet braids attached to those loc cornrows. The one with the wig does have locs, they’re just under the wig. It was strange to see as well, but apparently the one making this documentary wanted to show people who had locs who still could have other hairstyles too. 🤷🏽♀️ I would have preferred to see their locs too.
As read the comments some of you will choose any given moment to talk bad about some women who wear wigs or weaves if you listen to what they are saying about their locs instead of being negative you might learn that locs can be braided or cornrowed for other styles to temporary be put in
👏👏👏Honeycomb owner, yassssssss "dat ish is DOPE" PREACH!!!👏👏👏 You literally have to big up yourself sin, hair eyelashes, weave, make up, etc. it WORKS!!!!❤💯💯💯💯
locks was started from the maasai of kenya and the mau mau tribe of kenya were the name dreadlocks came from mean fear called by british coloniel in kenya
I was confused by the women where the locs , that shit was crazy i felt like they was lying to me and shit dfl like wtf are my eyes deceiving me , that was alot
if its painful, that shit's not dope. that lady know's what she's talking about. around my way, some ladies boast about how much pain they gonna put you through
@@taylorthenatural5509 I did, and thank you for forcing me to enlighten myself before I comment ☺️. Dreads are associated with the unkept locks of the slave Africans who arrived on slave ships, the slave owners said that the hair look dreadful, hence the name dreads. Locks are a natural African look which is a well kept and tidy look. I'm on this channel because I want to learn, if there is anything in this comment that isn't quite correct please feel free to correct me. Open minded and 1 love.
A K Falconer so y’all are telling something that has been around BEFORE slavery was given a name by slave owners. Idk what you have read but please don’t let this type of American found information get circulated. It’s enough that it’s become mainstream and is now “just a hairstyle choice” for some people.
Anyone who talks about our hair is jealous. Period. Brown people with locks are BEAUTIFUL. They have sent a man for me who want me back in church. Religious minds are poisoned minds that perm their hair.

Tré Hazelwood Yes, please do an extended one on locs.
Yes, I'm very interested
great work i really love the style of the video especially the topic.
Thank you so much for this video👏🏾🤗😊. It’s been almost 14 months on my loc journey😎. My baby locs are now wild teens 😂. Our hair is beautiful! Nothing dreadful about it😌
I'm here for it please. There's only about 4 good ones
Nigga like Durk watching locumentary lmaooo😭

😭
My natural hair is fine and since I loced my hair it's fuller and healthier than ever! I love this locumentary! A+++
Does she have locs beneath the braids?? I’m confused. I mean, if she does that’s cool. I just think it would have been a better idea to rock her locs for the interview.
You are missing the point; Although the video is purely about locs, I believe it is also important to showcase the versatility that locs have to offer. To answer your question: Yes, I did have my locs in braids! Great question darling!
Also confused..the girl with the straight hair talking about her locs? Where were they? Under weave/wig?

this is the first time I ever hear of protective styling.... I rather wear my locs with my real hair then put in fake hair... My opinion.
Protecting locs? 😮
I love to see beautiful and intelligent black people embrace their natural selves. I've been growing my locs for a year and 3 months and I love the meaning and history behind them. Great video!
I started my locks because of a spiritual relationship with God, I need help, so I started my dreads and I have become very wise.
who here from durks playlist great video btw
Dope video! I said I was goin loc my hair when I turn 30 (July 2024).. but I’m 15 months in currently… best decision I’ve made!
This is needed for the culture. The sister with the red glasses and honey fro was speaking facts and inspiration. Struggling with my natural hair myself. A true Queen. ❤
Zayloc had the best locs ever he is the reason I'm starting my locs at 45 years old I always wanted them
Just started mine age 44. Mad I didn't start sooner

LoL ....I said the same thing but then I was wondering if it was his twin. I know at one point he moved out the country but I suppose he is back.
Me too @Zay Locs
My Man Zaylock with his epic hair rocking this freeform culture fr!!! Respect

The young lady with the "poetic justice Janet Jackson" braids or maybe they're jumbo twist and the young lady with the wig on I'm confused are they thinking about getting locs?
🤔
I thought the same thing
It looks like she wrapped her locs to me
Yes those two did cause confusion for me as well. I guess cause I was expecting all those profiled would be loc-ed!
Aisha Nicole From the other comments, the girl with the braids has her locs braided under, and those are crochet braids attached to those loc cornrows. The one with the wig does have locs, they’re just under the wig.

I love this! Sooo dope! Great documentary! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I didn’t know I needed this
I thought everyone would have locs. One person has braids and another has a wig on. I have locs and like looking at loc videos.
I watched Zay Locs when he started. And his hair is wonderful. 8 years for him now.
🤔🤔🤔🤔"when I was born my hair was relaxed..." 👀ummmm 👏no maam👏your👏hair👏was👏natural👏at birth... dafuq!?!?! Ok, let me try & resume...
She obviously meant it started being relaxed at an early age, not literally she out the womb with relaxed hair.
Beautiful Piece🙌🏾
Great video!
This is amazing content. I wish i could like it over and over again. Thanks for doing this and sharing with us..
Thank you!
Love this video! ✊🏾💯
The brother with the Loc’s stated he has a twin brother? Zay Loc has a twin brother..

Why this on Lil Durk playlist lmao😭😭😂😂
Ilove itttttttttttttttt ,Thanks for sharing !!!!!!!
Dreads has a negative connotation. It implies that it’s dreadful to have your hair in that way. So locs are the proper term.
@ 6:44 what does a Masters Degree have to do with getting and having locks?
Is that zayloc23?
Honeecomb 👍👏
I think you all are a bit confused to what LOCKS IS. My sister that on your head are Braids not Locks. The Guy have 7yr old locks

i think they should’ve asked them their opinion on loc extensions
No. What? Natural from Africa and my mother's hands. Not American salons. If only we would resist regressing every generation.
There’s no difference between dreads or locs.. the word is Dreadlocks 🙃
Thats what I thought.
Yes there is.
Look it up before you assume.
