For cleaning the old caked-on grease off of machines like that you can use ammonia if it's all ferrous metal, or borax with a bit of dish soap in hot water if there's some nonferrous metal that the ammonia might attack. I used ammonia to clean an old industrial sewing machine that I picked up a few months ago, and it went from a dark caramel brown to a beautiful factory-fresh grey; the transformation was incredible.
My first use of punch cards was for computers (in the 1970s) but I love that you mentioned how much of that technology was driven by the textile industry and machines already available and functioning. You're much younger than I am but I appreciate that you value the history.
I also have a Dubied that was gifted to me by the owner's mother. I have the original purchase invoice from 1920. Looks like it was unused from the 50's. I am thrilled that you have also have one! Please keep up the videos. You already have showed me the colour changer mechanism. I didn't know that is what if for!!!!!!

As a fellow engineer, have you tried researching the patent? Usually if you can’t find the manual but the patent diagrams are super detailed and can help you figure out the mechanisms

But I will say, don’t be too intimidated by it, think of all the 100-years-and-older sewing machines out there, still functioning. My 1908 Singer treadle still works like new. One of the other commenters had the right idea - trace the history of the company. You know it comes from the French-speaking part of Switzerland, that’s not a huge area.

There is a Vintage Knitting Machine group based in America and they may be able to help with a manual etc, glad you saved it and it will be like adopting a puppy. It will behave badly a few times but will sing once it is being used on a regular basis.
For the stand on this thing, I suggest you get 5/4 board to make a table out of. You can cut the board down the middle and then position it on the stands so that it has the gap that is needed for the fabric to descend. The 5/4 board should be more than strong enough to hold up that heavy machine. If not, you can double it or use 2/4 construction to make the stand with. The 5/4 will look nicer though.
My suggestion may have already been mentioned but I would suggest textile museums as there will surely be learned people who have historical information and other machines; possibly with instructions available.

There's something beautiful about a really well built mechanism. At a previous job we had an Original Heidelberg platter press. It was made in "Western Zone Germany" after WWII but, before West Germany was a country. It wasn't a particularly fast press but it just ran. It was sold last year and as far as I know it's still being used in production.
Hello, I alsoo found out that monsieur Dudieb bought the pattern from a Isaac W Lamb. So maybe you have to look in USA for the manuel. it was bought for a industrial reason to knit socks. Lamb is still working and make’s ribbons

Most of his videos are not narrated, so try to find one with narration. In these videos, he discusses how he locates manuals, patent records, and information about the equipment he restores. He works on various types of equipment, and he may have run into information about this generation of knitting machines.
Thanks to this video I'm now aware of these machines. Then what should pop up on my Gumtree search today but one for sale in Edinburgh! Sigh, I wish I had the space. I hope it finds an as worthy and knowledgeable home as this featured one.

At work I used for some years a motorized version of a machine really similar to this, called Scomar (I'm italian). The two slits in front and back are indeed tension controller, they're really precise and if you don't set them exactly the same you'll see some tension issues between rows. There should be some levers to activate front and back needle back, one at time or work in circular (crossing the levers).
I'm not that good at using domestic knitting machines, but since I work in a knitwear company, I know how to use some industrial mechanical machines (now I am a project manager, but for more than 10 years I developed knitting garment data for our programmers)

I am sure to be teaching my grandmother to suck eggs. However, have you tried the Company? Even if they no longer exist, the company would have been taken over. First, you better test the whole machine for lead because you never know what could be lead. Second, you could restore it, but what if it does have lead throughout the machine, what are you going to do?

What a beautiful old machine. If given a good oil and clean, and continued to be looked after well, it will probably last another 100 years.

Lead ? In mechanical parts ? I'd get it if the thing were painted but lead is way too soft for aything precision/mechanical/etc, no ?
