I’m saddened to see how ignorant some people are about the Haida in the comments. I would bet that not one of you people making your ignorant comments has ever been to Haida Gwaii or has any clue about the people who live there. The Haida are very hardworking people and have done tons to preserve their culture and the beautiful lands that they call home. They don’t just blow their money on booze and drugs, they take the little money that they get and put it towards the things that they need.

      Here
I lived from December 2008 to May 2010.
It was hard and I had a lot of fun.
When I get on the ferry from Prince Rupert to Queen Salisi Island, I get off the dock and I think about it a lot.
I wrote it down because I suddenly thought of it while having a drink.
There used to be a Northhen savaing bank in the city, but now it's a big refurbishment.I was doing the remodeling when I was there.
I think the bank would have been greatly remodeled again.
I remember Jacky, Jackson, Tyrone, Ashley, and so on.
We won't meet someday, but if we meet again, we'd like to have a lot of fun.
And if anyone knows me, please leave a comment.

      As a Vancouver Islander
I kind of agree with you but at the same time the Haida people are hard working people
I like to joke about Haida Gwaii by saying “if you like to do absolutely nothing go to Haida Gwaii”
As someone who’s been to Port Clements from Vancouver for a week I hated it. Why? Because there was nothing to do there
I was 7 at the time (I’m 15 now) and nowadays I would’ve preferred Prince Rupert
The only reason we went to Haida Gwaii in the first place was because my dad’s cousin lived there
She moved out of Haida Gwaii to Parksville about 5 years ago since my dad’s cousin has daughters Haida Gwaii has absolutely no colleges or universities on that island and Vancouver Island has multiple colleges and universities.
I may sound delusional by saying that but I respect anyone’s opinions

People choose to live in a remote environment because of the prestine natural beauty. I shouldn't have to pay for their indulgence. Shortage of housing? As it says in the report, the shortage is everywhere. Let them deal with it, but not with my tax dollars.
