If the video ends with the death of all of them, then it doesn't discourage predators. The video is, therefore, proof of the lack of a use for this formation; this gathering makes them die. If they die, then there is no discouraging of large predators, and it is bad for them. Hence the question, "how is this arrangement advantageous?" , since they all die through large predators.
