I grew up using that hammer mill with the belt drive, my daddy raised hogs for many years, just the way you do it, brings back good memories. I'm actually looking for one of those hammer mills, I'm going back to raising old style hogs. Love the videos nd I pray u get better
That mill's the big boss. It's good to have word of mouth come back in your favor & skills to restore that. Darlene does good recording. My hands shake bad.
We used to have a farrow to finish operation, about 200 sows(my Daddy and Uncle ran it). The 1998 prices put us on contract until we quit in 2015. We're thinking about getting a couple of feeder pigs to finish out for the freezer, but we got rid of our original hammer mill/mixer, since we weren't using it anymore. We have a hammer mill similar to yours but smaller I think, and ours doesn't have the cyclone chamber on the output spout. Is that to take some of the dust out of the feed? Our mill/mixer used to have one on it, but I never saw much dust come out of it. My son and I really enjoy your videos.
I'm not sure what that thing does , I think it has more to do with bagging . Porks going to get expensive soon so now would be a good time to feed your own
hey Chris You need to do more videos on homesteading / farming been doing it my whole life ,you make since , rather listen to you than the fake news, we been homesteading in central fl for the last many years on quite a few acres, running momma beef cows , and about 50 acres of hay, wish I could weld better , barely can
I'm going to try to get more done it seems to really be helping folks . There's just so much BS that people believe because they've heard it so much it gets discouraging
I know this has to be a huge relief. I couldn't be happier if I were twins. Love the double V belts instead of the single, flat belt. Everyone and their brother sells V belts. Would hardware cloth across the "Mouse door" impede the air flow too much? -KJ
Can this grind acorns? I was thinking you could chop acorns and put them in a grocery bag in the freezer to kill bugs. Then you might be able to accumulate enough acorn meal for the pig you process for yourself. -KJ
Great vid
You got a really awesome setup ! Thanks so much for sharing !
It's a work in progress but I'm getting close to how I need it
Nice set up. Glad you got something bigger to save time. Take it easy and take care of yourself.
Steven it's no comparison in turn out
great share... prayers and good wishes that your health improves .
I'm improving just kinda slow

I used a burr mill for years it's a little slower if you can't find a hammer mill that might be an option. Appreciate the support it means a lot
I have a 52 to30 ferguson.
Mines a 53

She really does a good job
Demouse advice is sound:) I trust you on your accent alone
Awesome looking mill Chris glad figured it out . Counter clockwise was right after all . Good deal glad you running
Oh wow what a Machine !!
That is a heckuva mill, Chris. Great to see your reputation for the old ways and ingenuity bring it y’all’s way.
Don't know how I made it without it
That’s pretty dang cool. Thomasville isn’t that far from me
I sell a lot of pigs to folks up your way
Love your videos, I grew up on a hog farm in close to liberty N.C.
Sweet

demouse the grinder.... got it lol
They are nasty ground up !
That looks like a awesome grinder !
Nice setup! Electricity or not you can make feed...
That's part of what I was thinking Brett
I see what you mean about the teeth. Nothing like the one's I found online. That thing should last forever! Nice running system, but it is a bit loud.
I appreciate you help with the research Geeky thank you again
It is loud lol
Awesome!!!..

Going in to town for supplies is more dangerous than running the mill lol we run one also with pto it's the only way to go
I think you're right the way the world's getting
I have a 9in i h mill ,rotation, look at blower , i run two b belts 3600 rpm same ,as this belts set ,run 454 ih 1000 rpm pto engine at 14 oo rpm
We're only running this one about 1800 to 2000 rpm that's with a Ferguson 30 about a third throttle 540 pto .
Hi Chris, what is the part number stamped on that large pulley? 2C200SF?
I'll have to look and get back to you
@@HomesteadingtheHardWay Thanks!
I can see mice building a nest in it. They love the bell housing of a Farmall tractor! I bet it runs great off the pto.
I bought my Duroc old spot pigs from Jon Sharps wife Milisa Sharp
Those could be some off my bloodline, Johnny's bought a lot of breeding stock from us
Are you going to do a video of you wearing the jeans with one pant leg missing?
:-) It might start a fashion trend. -KJ
Lol they were bad enough to not be wearable
Great video guys!. I would love to find an old burr mill someday. We had a kneodler many years ago.
Only thing I have trouble with getting parts
I know this has to be a huge relief. I couldn't be happier if I were twins.

I believe it would . I'm to lazy to pick them up lol
Chris that hammermill is cooking with gas. It moves right along. Do you grow your own corn or buy it there local?
Both but I get most from a friend of mine
That thing looks awesome ! I would love to see it in operation!
There's a little bit of it running at the end of the video I think
