This is lovely! Thanks for all the tips and materials. I am totally a novice. Would the gloss be water proof? If I would like to make a plate to use as a watercolour palette, would the gloss work for that? Thanks in advance for your attention.
@@berolinastrassmann that’s a great question. Unfortunately air dry clay and the sealer are not waterproof, unlike ceramics which are. So air dry clay and this sealer would be decorative only. You could coat it with epoxy resin which is slightly more waterproof but still not fully so.
@@VuvuCeramics Thanks ever so much for your response. I will see if I find other options here in 🇩🇪. Unfortunately I don't have access to a kiln, so air dry clay looks like my best option. I will check your tip on resin too! Thanks again
That’s so lovely, thank you. I know a lot of people don’t have access to pottery materials or a kiln, but still would like to try making pieces inspired by nature. So I have created a small series of air dry clay projects. I hope people find them useful. 😊💛
@@cindyk6316 for the stem, I stir the green watercolor with the brush tip, then I touch the brush tip to the center of the stems. The watercolor is drawn up the stems like they are little straws (this is called “capillary effect”). If some of the stems don’t draw in the paint, I just touch the center again and tilt the dish in the direction I want paint to flow. If you make any green smudges or if paint flows where you don’t want it, just wet a cloth with plain water and wipe away the paint from where you don’t want it

Thank you so much! For the flower it’s regular watercolor paint. For the little ladybug I used acrylic paint. The gold rim is a liquid gold leaf paint (more details are written out in the description). 😊❤️🌱
Great question! I always use real flowers (I usually use whatever is growing in my garden). And I use fresh flowers, not dried. I love the intricate details and textures of real flowers and leaves. 🌸🌿
How do you keep your air-dry clay from cracking and falling apart if you don't mind my asking? Because, I love working with my baking clay, and have tried air-dry, and it is so unforgiving and unstable, I just gave up on it. But I would like to use it if I can find a method that works.... That is absolutely gorgeous btw ❤❤❤
I always recommend using air dry clay fresh out of the bag. If you look at the video description and links in the written description, you can see that the clay I’m using here is DAS brand. I recommend using it straight out of the bag and putting any leftovers back in a sealed plastic bag. If you find the clay is still too dry for your taste, you can always knead in water to make the clay more pliable. When I used it for this video straight out of the bag, you can see that it is pretty workable. The other trick is to make sure it is 100% dry before adding any paint. And then 100% dry before sealing the piece. If you seal it prematurely, the finished piece will not be as strong.
