My review of a Malaysian Bidor Golok Perak (s71.co/3wV85g9), with handle upgrade done by MyParang.com. 5160 Steel, 12 inch blade length. Here is the factory where these are made: ua-cam.com/video/6j3h4BRrMXI/v-deo.html. Much like the Thai E-nep, Filipino Barong, and Nepali Kukri, these blades are extremely strong, I recommend them for rough wilderness and survival tasks. Enjoy the big steel! :]
Did you have to ask them to do the upgrade or do they come already like that?
@@lonewandererbushcraftwildc6822 Already like that. Myparang does it as their business, so all of them have the good handle, and they sell them on US Amazon, good stuff.
Man, I really like those traditional knives. The handles are most excellent. Definitely a great outdoors blade.👍👍⚓⚓🇺🇲🇺🇲
For sure, I am glad you like it!
Definitely wouldn't mind picking one of these up, though funds are kinda tight at the moment so it will have to wait.
Badass, I have one in transit, and just realized I’d never actually seen one, nice video. I also have the parang Tangkin, myparang handles are fabulous, they are indeed beasts of tools. Also, don’t apologize for batonning lolz, I think it’s safer and more efficient than splitting with a hatchet/small ax, period. The control alone is worth it, and I don’t feel like it’s any slower than a small axe, especially if there’s a mis hit, head gets stuck, etc. Batonning: the most useless internet controversy of all time. I baton, even though I own axes, even with non full tang knives (gasp), and so should all of you lol.
Excellent, this is an awesome blade, it will serve you well!
I'm a parang love 💕. And I'm Malaysia. I know this is a best parang. 👍👍👍👍
Excellent, yes it is :]
Great video as always. Glad to see you’re doing well. I’ve always enjoyed watching your content. Keep the knife videos coming.
Thanks, my friend!
Thanks for the excellent review!
Welcome, good sir!
Looks excellent! In my mind, it’s a great all purpose option. Though I would supplement it with a smaller knife for detailed work and reserve this for plowing though heavy wood.
Another great Bidor knife (on my list)!
I have the duku chandong 12" parang amazing blade (and I have many). Great Heat treat on the 5160 and very very tough blades. Soon to add this one to the collection!!
Excellent, you will enjoy it!
I don’t know which was louder, chopping the log or the mosquitoes buzzing around the camera 🤣! A great video with great blades! Thanks for the demonstration man!
Welcome, my friend!
I’m planning to boy either this or the golok 135 but I can’t find to many reviews, could you help me to decide? I’m on Florida by the way
I like the Perak, since the tip makes it shaped more like a big knife.
Very nice! Love me some 5160.
Thank u for these videos...they help me to see good equipment that I can use..
Glad to help!
beautiful Golok
Awesome machetes bro!
Absolutely badass. 👊💀
I'm a Malaysian from Perak state...
Here how to pronounce Bidor ( bee-door)
Perak (pay- rug)..
Nice!!!!! That thing is awesome 👏
Beast from the East!
@@WeAllJuggleKnives Hey, heads up that Bulldog is the cheapest it’s ever been on Amazon :)
loverly tools
Glad you like them!
nice
Thanks, bro!
Do you have any experience cutting bamboo with all of your various machetes? I have so much bamboo at my house it's hard to keep under control & I was just wondering what the best machete is for that purpose?
Not much bamboo where I live right now, but I think a cane machete would be best, they work for chopping sugar cane, I think they would be good for bamboo.
You should try with this my parang, go buy HD Duku Chandong.. It's a real beast.. wrap with paracord at middle i mean similar chopping blade competition, your machete wont fly away.. don't forget wear heavy duty rubber gloves or garden gloves..
NO! Use a shovel and dig out all the roots.
I feel it's possible to chop so much you ruin the temper on the blade Edge
From the heat and friction? I am not sure. It probably has earned its price already if we chop that much.
That's a knife
I'm not convinced that the rat tail tang is better, what is evident that they designed it with the limited resources at hand, traditional designs die hard but I would like to see a full tang and D hand guard.
They do swear by it, here is their page where they talk about it: www.myparang.com/stick-tang-parangs/
just not a fan of the rat tail tang
looks like the blade was made from recycled material
Possibly, 5160 can come from truck leaf springs.
Love that
