I don't know why I (occasionally) watch these types of videos when I have a terrible phobia of heights. I get lightheaded each time when I watch these videos. Yet, I can't help myself. For some unknown reason, I still watch them, once in a while.
I just did my first skydive 3 days ago at Skydive DeLand. It was awesome. For the first 2 seconds of freefall, you get that rollercoaster, heart in your throat feeling but after that you feel fine and you feel so free and awesome. Do it.
Thanks for the comments guys. These are two of my buddies, and they absolutely love jumping. If things go well I'll end up jumping with them at some point this year.
I grew up as an airport rat in DeLand. Watched the round chutes for years. Lots of landings “off site” in those days. My father jumped with Skydive DeLand to celebrate his 85th birthday!
Fantastic video - am learning in Deland in March so its great to see the whole journey down to the DZ from the plane rather than just the freefall. Big thanks for posting.
3 years ago, I met a gentleman went skydiving for his 60th birthday, so I decided to do that myself, even though I'm afraid of heights. This last June, I went and had a scarily, fun, and exciting time, jumping in tandem with an instructor. This coming year, I want to do it again for my deceased son's 18th birthday.
I've always wondered, when you jump like that, while you're falling does it give you the same feeling in the heart as when you're in a roller coaster? I mean the thing that feels like your heart is gonna explode ahah
No man it doesn't feel that way because there aren't any forces making you go down other than gravity. A roller coaster is a lot heavier than you are so when it goes downwards, you are pulled down at a much faster acceleration than if you were to freefall. It basically feels like a cushion of air. If you want the feeling that you get from skydiving except for the falling part, try going to a wind tunnel :) And to ForgottenKnight1, I've never wing suited but for the first few seconds when your wing suit inflates you get that slight feeling but after that the acceleration is constant just like a moving car.
Eddie Price But all objects fall at the same rate. On a roller coaster you can't accelerate more than 9.8 m/s/s. In fact on a roller coaster you would feel less acceleration because you were on an incline, not free falling. If you go skydiving, the feeling you get in your stomach due to the acceleration is going to be much greater. However if you are skydiving, only the first part is going to feel as intense, because as you approach terminal velocity, you acceleration decreases, and the feeling lessens.
Dude, if I ever went skydiving I would be like CJ on Grandtheft auto San Andreas saying every curse word in the book as soon as I jump.. I would be saying things like “I hate gravity” and “ I don’t need this bullshit”.. 😆😆😆
went skydiving this past summer, was the best thing ever, the feeling you get when that door opens and you jump, indescribable. Think im gonna sign up for AFF next summer. I recommend a tandem at least once! Blue skies =D
Skydived by tower in florida. Dont remember name of jump school but loved two training jumps I had. Lakeland? Was in my 50's Now 70 cant go but glad for the experiences. I passed both classes:-D
Also, your bud needs to separate more. It's a cloudy day jump, you opened just under the cloud base, and you're friend basically waited less than a second to follow you. Safety you guys!
Can you tell me how this feels when you're in the air? Do you get that feeling like you're trying a fast rollercoaster in the stomach since you're going down so quickly please describe it. I'm going to try this soon, and i would like to know how it feels. Thanks :)
No, because when you get out of the plane, you don't suffer any change of speed therefore your organs don't feel the acceleration! :) you feel like you're laying on an air pillow, and you can also breathe BUT NOT THROUGH YOUR MOUTH! Only through your nose. But don't worry about anything else, just enjoy the experience! If I'm not too late and you already tried it ahaha
I went skydiving couple days ago, you do feel slight change, but really not that much at all. You can mainly focus on the amount of wind that is going against you
*too, and no they have a set altitude where they are supposed to deploy the parachute in case the first parachute tangles they have time to deploy the backup parachute.
I wanna skydive so bad!! whats it like once you open; do you freeze your ass off or get the "lost stomach" feeling like a rollorcoaster?? can't wait to try this!
Lazarus Nazareth You don't experience the same feeling in your stomach as when riding roller coasters. Skydiving is nothing like them. In fact, now that I skydive every weekend, roller coasters don't entertain me much anymore.
But you don't experience any G's like you do on roller coasters, and you're not being whipped around all over the place(unless you wanted to, of course).
I remember that end of the world prediction of may 21, 2011 by harold camping. even if that rapture really would have happened and the world really would have ended months later on october 21, 2011, at least the guys in this video would have had the time of their lives with that skydiving before the world would've ended. that looks like a very fun, thrilling thing to do. you must have had a lot of fun doing it.
Thank you everyone so much for watching these last 10 years! Please share this video and let me know if you it inspired you to make the jump!

me too.. maybe it’s a sign we should try it? i’d have to be pushed out the plane though. no way i’d have the courage to jump out myself 😅

No but I had dream of me jumping of the side of a rocket ship about to go to space an it was high an I fell in water
actually it happens in my chest ..

A rush. It's not like a "rollercoaster" feeling. It's wild. More like the feeling you get when you're in a car and you smash the pedal to the floor.
Its called a slider. It is there to slow the opening speed of the main parachute so it is a nice soft opening.
