I have been so proud watching you through this entire project! Watching you learn so many things and grow in your confidence in your ability. Today was no different watching you build a table yourself for goodness sake and that fluting is gorgeous. I love that Walmart is standing with schoolteachers. Two people are close to me that are both elementary school teachers and they love those kids and really want the very best for them. I am surprised you did not put primer on the raw fluted wood before painting. Off topic, may I ask where and what those stunning florals are behind you?

I went to a paint store with a board color I liked and they did a custom match to it. That is the best way to go. I tried doing it myself and couldnt get it to look good.
As a pro cleaner, fluted wood is not my fave, especially in kitchen area. It will attract grease and dust in the grooves and be a nightmare to clean. Looks pretty, but there is a reason why it’s not a classic in the kitchen
Hopefully no grease ends up on the back of the island since the stove is opposite of it. I get what you’re saying but I think as a small detail it’s not bad.

If you are having bar stools next to your green island, you may want to poly seal the paint to prevent scuffs from kids' shoes. Pretty color.
