Both knots tied in orange rope but red seems to get a knot from nowhere and orange looses a knot ?
It seems it's 2 different takes joined together and on both he ties the orange rope but in the final shot, there are knots on both ropes.

Square knot is not intended to join 2 ropes together.
Square knot is a good knot for tying packaging. Nothing else.Nobody who knows knots uses the square knot to join two ropes togheter.
What's nice about this one compared to the square knot - you can slip this one back open more easily IMHO
