Steve Hillage is a total genius, he blew me away with his version of "Not fade away", then produced the two amazing Simple Minds albums, "Sister feelings call" and "Sons and fascination". An absolute visionary, thank you Steve!
He's doing what he loves. Can't begrudge him that. I guess my frustration is that I'd like to hear another "Steve Hillage" album (along the lines of "Fish Rising", "L", "Green", etc.).
From Gong, to Steve Hillage band to System 7. Love the whole journey. One I'll follow him and Miquette 'Bambaloni Yoni' Giraudy forever. They make the world a better place. ❤️
Steve Hillage looks like the most unlikely rock star but he is so fucking talented and I love listening to him, amazing musician, big love mister aitch
I totally agree with him. I'm an old guy (59 and counting) and back in the early 90's, I was pretty much into jazz and old rock groups. I thought I was the only weirdo left in the world- or that's how it felt anyway. I had some young friends that I was playing with, and they turned me onto techno, house, trance and all that. I had this huge feeling of relief- there were still other weirdoes out there! I was not alone. BTW- Miquette is still HOT!!! (Sorry- I'm a guy & I had to say it.)
grew up in newport swales and you were massive to me and my mates growing up, your music has taken me to places where few have been and most not understand, much respect dai
I Would love Steve & Miquette to do another album like 'And Not Or' which is one of Steves great lost albums. The guitar playing on that & also 'For To Next' is mind blowing! Its a shame the albums were panned by Hillage fans on release as today they sound brilliant. Steve is a mega guitarist, its a shame his music dosent feature more of his supersonice playing anymore especialy with the sound he got from his Steinberger.
And its nice to see a guitarist like him bring his guitar to electronic music instead of staying in cliché rock music. Jsut like Manuel GOTSCHING in a way.
"too many drugs"/ ha ha ha. i remember spending a new years eve at inspiral lounge, camden, london, a few years ago, and went downstairs to the toilet, and steve and miquette float out of the ladies loo grinning like the naughtiest schoolkids, and we KNEW what they'd been up to thanks to the generous welsh mandy folk! a delighful night, in an intimate setting.
I totally love and respect the hell out of Steve and Miquette's work with Gong and solo up until "Rainbow Dome Musick", but I just don't dig techno, at all.
Rainbow Dome Musick was total bliss cannot disagree with you there, however they have asserted their total authority in the techo genre imo. You have to grant them that. When I listen to "techno" some of it sounds good, but In every style of music, there are those that stand out and Steve and Miquette's work as System 7 has dominated. That's my feeling and I know others may disagree. Look at him - he's a grandad (sorry!) and making music that is FAR better some of the crap that is out there.
Slightly odd edit at 3:41 - the "seen the future" bit is actually about being at a disco in 1978 when they played Kraftwerk 9-10 years before the Acid House explosion...
I guess Bambaloni Yoni still looks OK for her age. Her Wikipedia page doesn't give her birthdate (she don't tell I guess) but I'm assuming around the same as him and he's a little younger than me.
I thought they were doing ambient. Ambient don't have a dance beat. It then becomes techno trance house something. Who cares. These two had a great sound with the guitar and synthesizer and a great rock band backing them up and now their techotrancing. Shut up and play your guitar..

I hear you!
Man this guy is like the oldest raver ever lived... love his guitar work, unbelievable talented cyber hippie

miquette is looking really fresh and beautiful here. what a powerhouse of a lady.
haha creep
Toujours aussi belle Miquette Giraudy ❤❤❤
Great to see a pioneer of musical soundscapes entrancing all the young dudes. Lunar Musik Suite ¦->
it was megadog that steve used as the "mobile club" who stage managed the original dance tent at glasters. and it was fantastic with eat static too.
Green is my all time favorite album. Dance, System 7? Not so much. But who am I to tell him what to do. Glad he's got a hobby in his olden years.

Me too, I just love the track 'And Not Or' - I wish he'd get back to guitar - dance music is a mystery to me...

Thanks for posting!
There was a dance tent at Glastonbury 1987
Luv System 7.
Rock on Steve and Miquette.

Actually, Steve HILLAGE has something to say (to express), as opposite to many electronic/techno/trance music makers.
great!
Oh Yerr...Bang On.... Bring onthe Force....
Yeah!!

Well , thanks for the Alpha Wave, I love Plastikman rework
Genius's
What are those terrible noises in the background?
03:50 the sonic eggs and then "probably taking too many drugs" - it was true.

My friend Massimo "Er Canna" thinks he is a prophet and today there are no airplanes in the sky but drones, becouse steve wants so. MAX IS THE BEST!

You would think that at this age people would dance less and meditate more. >:-)

this comment is 5 years old but you are a timeless douchebag.
Space cadets. They are a perfect example of why it isn't good to use drugs.
I'd still rather hear Khan, or Fish Rising...... or just about anything from Gong. This simpleton noise takes me nowhere........
Are they seriously taking the piss ?.
