I made a field repair to the handle of a 12lbs sledgehammer, we used it for months after that. I have wanted to make a larger version that would handle “coat hanger” weight wire. Not that I have a reason for that extra strength often, but it would be truly impressive....
I was so sick of dragging my repaired air hose around catching on seemed like everything. Then you grab the hose and slide it through your hand rolling it up and... wham... you run into that screw clamp with the sharp tail sticking out. My saying was... you got to have some blood to repair things. I saw this and made one. The first wire was too lite. The second wire too heavy. I did get 5 wire clamps that are working but I would rather have a heavier wire. So when I find the one great wire to use I will love this . I no long pull my air hose and hang up on things nor do I shed blood using the air hose any longer. Thanks for this invention.
Love it when these demos are clear and simple. 325k views. Imagine how that guy would feel if he knew 325k people were standing around his bench watching haha
I remember my dad having one of these years ago. Times were tight alot shade tree repairs made just to get by. When I get home I'm gonna make me one of these and by some good wire. It's worth it just to have any size clamp you need within reach.
I saw a fella make one of these (on YT) in his shop but he moved so quickly I couldn't tell how he was using it. It was a work of art - the one he made... And it set me off looking for one I could purchase. Fantastic tool...
I pay myself 50 bucks an hour for anything I am doing, I could be making money doing a repair job or building a project... By the time you source the parts and put it together, that's an hour so... I bought one it's a joy to use and it will last longer than me
I bought this tool at a boat show in MD years ago. I have used it a few times but it is hard to do unless you use it all the time. Sure it looks easy at the demo and it is but you need to do it a lot and often to remember how to do it.
I'm too cheap to pay the retail cost of the beautiful ClampTite tool too! So, I made one out of a stainless steel turn buckle body. The video how-to is on UA-cam. And let me tell you! I've replaced three or four dozen worm drive hose clamps on air lines, garden hoses, propane hoses, etc. I use it for the small crimp clamps on fuel pump sending units in automobiles when just replacing the fuel pump and not the whole assembly. Worm drive hose clamps catch on anything and everything... The wire clamps do not. Air hoses used in roofing jobs can't be repaired with worm drive clamps since the clamps tear up shingles. But, the wire clamps make damaged roofing air lines perfectly serviceable again. I'm fully converted to the wire clamp cult. Yes I am!
Thats the best one I've seen yet 🤣 bravo bravo bravo bravo 👏 either let me buy one or I'll have to make my own witch might not happen for a while!!!!!!!!!!!
Sonho com essa ferramenta há anos ... pena que não é vendido no Brasil !!! 😭😤 ... (I've been dreaming about this tool for years... too bad it's not sold in Brazil!!!)
I would like to try this with header wrap. I hate those God damn stainless steel zip ties and I hate the look of the worm type hose clamps on it. I think this would work great
There are also ClampTites for $30 and they work fine. I'm surprised to see this tool "introduced" at a fair. I got one at the Del Mar Fair a good 20 years ago.
A worm drive hose clamp is good to about 35 psi if ... anything beyond that is bonus and probably unreliable . The double wrap clamp as demonstrated is good for thousands of psi , or , hydraulics . Entirely up to the clamper skil as to the quality of the clamp .
.o41" stainless safety wire . Annealed in the same size is a little softer and more pliable . But I typically use standard 41 saftey in the blue can .(airplane wire) . Learning curve is about five clamps , good luck !
The version designed for normal home use costs US$30, but even the fancy stainless one shown here is around $65. Clearly neither are intended for people who just want to fix a garden hose. But heck, don't let me get in the way as you piss on this from a great height.
Not a chance , I've used both in the aviation industry and found that an aviation safety wire pliers uses the malleability of the wire which weakens it with each turn . The clamptite tool utilizes the tensile strength of the wire . If you use 304 stainless you can obtain up to just shy of 100,000 psi Tensile strength , it will actually hold hydraulic pressure, something the safety wire pliers couldn't dream of.
thanks for the idea im a welder with a shop and I know I could make this tool for a lot less .i already have the materials and I could make 5 of this .the rest soon to be sold on line for $25.00 each.
This is not true, the more expensive version 01 is made out of one solid stainless steel costs 70 USD, and is made for special use, such as offshore. 05 version is designed for normal home use, and costs only 30 USD, and it is half of what you claim. www.clamptitetools.net/Plated-Steel-Components-Aluminum-Body-Tool-Wing-Nut

"Safety Wire" is Stainless Steel Wire, you get one thousand guesses, on what kind of wire this tool use's. It sure ain't "Galvanized Steel Wire," because you can't even get it to take more that a 1/4 of the force that a Stainless Steel Wire of the same Diameter can take/handle. How do I know, I built my own version, and tried the Galvanized wire, kept breaking. Then I tried the Stainless Steel wire, of the same dia., Night & Day difference in strength. Had I not tried the two different type(s) of wire myself, I won't have believed that the common Galvanized wire was so weak, when compared to Stainless.
Clearly it's not intended for people who just want to make a couple of clamps. What is it about youTube commenters, that so many seem to think the world should be designed for their exclusive needs?
I all ready made the haywire one with materials left from previous project.i have enough to make like 20 of them .America don't let this company rip u off this tool cost me in supply $10.00 at home depot
hose wiring has been illegal with osha for over thirty years. If that hose fitting breaks off or comes out that hose will whip under 125 # more or less pressure and those bent down wire tabs will cut your ass up.
Just my opinion... these may look great demonstrated at the fair... but as another commenter eluded, in the 'real world' there is very seldom (if ever) enough clearance around hose fittings for these things. In an emergency you'd likely be better of tying a constrictor knot (see Wikipedia) in some nylon line, and pulling taunt with a couple of Marlinespike hitches. Wire type hose clamps also subjects hoses to localized 'cold flow' deformation... there is more to all this...
Junk. Totally impractical in actual use. There are many far superior clamp types out there. There is not a single place on my car engine where I would have room to use the tool. Maybe my garden hose. But, why wouldn't I use a spiral clamp or better yet an Oetiker clamp?

I used these things 50 years ago, been looking for them for a long time!
This thing could be a life saver out in the field. Most service trucks have a roll of mechanics wire.

Switch to an Oetiker clamp. Problem solved and it will hold better and forever.

Super clever tool. Reminds me of the safety wire pliers.
Nice video. Crisp and Clear. No going around the bush.
If there was a star rating I would like to give 5 out of 5!!!
I was going to buy one but their pricing is ridiculous so I made my own (simpler design) and it works great.

really good demo, not too much and not too little

Great product, can I ask what brand and model of diagonal pliers you use? I was pleasantly surprised by his design. Thank you so much!
tell us more about that wire... I find it much tougher to work with the wire I have....
These things work great!
Its great beacuse you don't have to keep many steel hose bands in different sizes to fasten any hose you like
Really neat clamp that won't snag but kinda pricey for the shade tree mechanic.
Cheaper way, my dad made it ua-cam.com/video/XPLCFX5ma1w/v-deo.html

@originaLkomatoast yeap! Its very easy too 😀😀
Do you use some sepcial kind of wire or any wire is possible?
2 advantages to this method...1, you're not restricted by one size clamp. 2, you don't have a big lump on your connection (buckle)
Cool clamp tool... nice i want that too
Very good tool, at a not so good price.
Their price will limit the popularity of this tool.
Tru dat. Good tool at a nasty price.

Hey look sir how my dad did it, in more cheaper way ua-cam.com/video/XPLCFX5ma1w/v-deo.html
There are several DIY versions that are cheap and easy to make. One consists of a bolt, nut, and washer and can be made with just a hacksaw or file.
A worm drive hose clamp is good to about 35 psi if ... anything beyond that is bonus and probably unreliable .
The double wrap clamp as demonstrated is good for thousands of psi , or , hydraulics .
Entirely up to the clamper skil as to the quality of the clamp .
What gauge wire was used in this video?
.041 " saftey wire
Or 19 gauge stainless picture hanging wire sold in hard ware stores .
why is it so hard to find in a brick and mortar store?
Because they require a demonstration or you wouldn't even know what it is .
Because they would 100% get stolen
Super easy when you’re no where near a tight spot.
what kind of wire do you use ?
.o41" stainless safety wire .
Annealed in the same size is a little softer and more pliable .
But I typically use standard 41 saftey in the blue can .(airplane wire) . Learning curve is about five clamps , good luck !

Agreed. And the pliers are very much more versatile in a pinch... you can do a lot with safety wire if/when forced to improvise.
