I remembering buying this at the bookstore I worked and rushing home to play it. I was (am) such a DS9 junkie and the more material the better. Only disappointment was that all the Trek audios were abridged. These days through services like Audible that would not be the case.
Very entertaining, glad I listened to this rather than reading the book that I have on my shelf. It’s not very good. But to hear Rene tell it I couldn’t ask for more. RIP my favorite changeling.
Never forget that the guy who write this also wrote another star trek story titled (I shit you not) “Invasion Omnibus: First Strike; The Soldiers of Fear; Time's Enemy; The Final Fury”
Did they use film or digital? Voyager (sadly) was done digitally and they deleted the originals. The only way an hd will be done of voyager is if new technology is developed.

Quark is really written like first season Quark, I hate the way he is characterized here. Thankfully Rene is reading, it really elevates the material. Oh, and also, O'Brien must suffer even in the books huh? Sees his wife and child killed in front of him so he launches a suicidal revenge attack immediately afterwards. Imagine if they had filmed this though, it would be exciting to watch.
Unlike engaging DS9 audio-books like The 34th Rule, Fallen Heroes is bad. The writing is lazy, the narrative is a pastiche of tired & very generalized sci-fi and combat-drama tropes, and the plot holes are big enough to pilot the Enterprise-E through. That being said, I enjoyed Fallen Heroes despite it sucking so very very badly. Because: Some ST is better than no ST. But, seriously people: This is, like, far worse than the worst ST fan-fic or even the Shatner-writes-and-narrates ST material phenomenon. I mean, he gives us essentially the same story over and over but damn if I don't keep listening. It's a mixed bag of awesome and fondue party cheesy in which he takes the (ST TOS characters and situations including the mirror universe stuff and moves it into the TNG universe) ball and keeps running with it well after the TD. But despite the flaws, we love Shatner writing and reading ST, and taking the premise of TOS and TNG at the same party to new and exciting levels, don't we folks? Point being, Fallen Heroes is so bad it's almost good (but not quite). So to all those praising FH: Were you, like, seven years old when you heard the audio-book? Or what? Because if you were just a child and this was all-new material to you then, fine: Fallen Heroes might have legitimately rocked your world. But otherwise, how can anyone possibly have experienced it as anything but a hot mess? Pleas,
In short, it was fun to hear every character getting their “I’m taking as many as I can” moment. Everyone getting blown away by actual, real guns was what I always want In Borg episodes so I’m greatly entertained

I really hope that in my lifetime we can get the blue ray remaster of this entire show. Faithful to the one that came before like Star trek TNG was.
