I love the way you teach, the best I have seen, now I understand how to do it, thank you for sharing.
I love it that you actually took the effort to find a way to show the viewers how to do it with a firework app - really creative!
THANKS!
I absolutely love fireworks photography. I've never tried the focus blur method, but your results have compelled me to experiment a little this year. I have several fireworks events to try this in our local area. Thanks for the tip!
The best one on this topic I found so far. Thank you!!
Thank you sir, I’ve learned alot from this video
No doubt..the best ever tutorial about fireworks specially the in-house training using the youtube fireworks to get a grip on the shutter..Highly apreciated Sir..
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
This video is great, will use it for new years. Thank you.
Hello Forrest, You are amazing, your tips are so easy to understand. I hope to get good pictures with this tips in coming new year 2015 at London.
cheers.
You have a happy 4th of July, and the timing of the video was perfect for us Canadians as well (July 1st). Thanks for a very helpful and easy to understand video.
Yes, I agree!!! Thank you again Mr. Tanaka!!!
Great tips! Will be going out tomorrow night to give it a try!
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
great video Forrest Tanaka. Very easy to follow.
Fantastic demo and tutorial, thanks!
Loved the video. An extremely effective and simple technique to practice and follow. Best bit - you can do this at home using a simulator. Thanks a lot.
Very good tips specially the focus changing one.
Very well explained Sir, Thank you!
amazing tips love your channel
Thank you!!! Your explanation is very clear!
Before the show, I focus at infinity, or use AF on an object near to where I think the fireworks are going to be. Then at the beginning of the show I fine-tune with Live View. I use back-button focusing, so essentially that’s like being in manual focus. Since I don’t have focus-on-shutter-press turned on, I’d forgotten people could run into AF problems. I’ll add a note to the video. Thank you!
Really nice demo
What a clever way to simulate an actual shooting condition. Thanks for thinking outside of the box on this one.
I will be shooting this year from a lit parking lot, instead of a pitch black location. Will that have much bearing on my results?
Got some great shots with the tips that you had in this video. Posting a video montage, set to music, of them to my channel right now, should be done uploading soon. Thanks for the tips and settings to try.
Thanks for this video, appreciate it. In Calgary we have our Stampede every year and this year is # 100 and on the first weekend and second weekend, there are 3 days each (so 6 total) of fireworks in the evening. Going to have some opportunity to try out pics. And that 'focus' tip is really neat.
Really great tip! Thank you.
Another great video. Thanks!
Looks terrific - exactly what I need to be prepared. Nikon d7100 failed last year (operator error)... so now that I understand why, the shots should be much better this year.
Good video...I wish I saw this a week ago!
thanks for the tips in 3 days i ill try them and share it wit you
Very cool!
great video thanks for the ideas
Just one question (perhaps I missed out on it): How do you focus in general? Using AF once and then switch it off? Thanks!
thank you so much
You can use your hat..or the lens cover..to cover the lens right? Some of the Olympus OM's have a way to see the live view while you are leaving the shutter open in bulb mode...so you can see the exposure while it is happening, that way you can focus as your taking the shot.
Hello, Will you please I have a question How can I take pictures when my shutter stands on 20 pictures a second? Is it with the remote controller? I don’t know how it works. Thanks so much.
Very good I like it. I
hi, can i have the fireworks hd file please
is it possible to take HDR shots? , for instance if you take a RAW image, you can split that up into 3 different photos set to different exposures, than make a HDR from those composites on photomatix or some other program. Would make the colors pop a lot more and creates a nice colorful glow to the surrounding surfaces. But i guess it might depend on how much light is available
What Tripod do you use?
some people also change the zoom during the exposure ~ this could also create some interesting effect
Is it possible to shoot fireworks with a Canon T6 w/ out the bulb mode? If it is possible what shutter speed, ISO, Apeture, and Exposure would you suggest
You can go into aperture priority and set the ISO and aperture so that the shutter speed is at least 10-15 seconds long, then use the black glove\card idea he showed. But the T6 has a bulb mode. Why wouldn't you use it? Just get the wired remote shutter release and you can lock the shutter open for as long as you want.
30'00"m shutter time and that's it.
Turn it at other fireworks at 15'00" and make them blend into 1 photo.
😀😀😀😀😀😀😀✌🎆🎇✨
Enjoy my idea with your p900
and or p1000 NIKON!!
Thanks a lot - this is so helpful! Keep up the good work!
One of my best focus blur shots - flic.kr/p/nV51ge and how about this for another way to shoot fireworks - flic.kr/p/Hmn2ps
ok now i know that thanks
Are you in Manual mode this whole time or some priority mode?
Always in manual mode. Never any priority mode. The camera will have too much trouble judging how to meter when the sky is pitch black and then all of a sudden very bright. The meter will be completely thrown off and you'll miss the shot
Excellent tutorial on photographing fireworks.
The hardest part is trying to focus on fireworks.
At F11 or so, focus isn't really very important. F11, 200MM APS-C sensor hyperfocal distance is 176 metres. Focus at 180 metres, everything from 90 metres to the milky way is good.
Kitty photo bomb lol
Bulb mode is too hit and miss
