I thank God for the up bringing of Holiness in the Baptist Church. The ministry that God had placed in there lives then kept me safe when the enemy came lurking. I thank god for them all. I wish that we could get back to these kind of days. God have mercy!
There is something about the simplicity and direct to the point messages of these old songs that I can't describe but they're so beautiful. I don't know all of the new songs from these days and I've heard a few some of them they are nice but there was something rich ,soulful and Powerful ( Glory to God) about these old songs. They direct your mind to the one and only true and wise God. Thank you for sharing this song. I love all the different versions on UA-cam such as the International Mass choir's version, the Kervy Brown & Full Gospel Holy Temple Mass Choir version they're all beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Evangelist Annie Mae Edwards (leader of this song) was one of those sanctified Holy church women who always had a good "general" voice for leading these Holiness songs. She never sang in the choir nor was she known for being a popular vocalist like the lead singers of the choir. We loved to hear her start one of these songs and she had a boat load of them.
Beautiful . I pray my Church never loses its old time feeling . I thank God for it and all these songs of Zion . I love to sing them for they will never get old to me . True Gospel ! Makes you wanna cry out to God and rejoice ! Hallelujah
Just live right and heaven DOES belong to you ! God bless you ! I grew up on this song. No President or anyone else can block God's grace ! Thee body may be buried but your soul belongs to God ! Thank you ! I feel the power of the Holy Spirit right NOW ! Praise God ! Hallelujah !!!
My Lord! This takes me back to St. Stephen’s (St. Stephenson) 😊 COGIC at 189 South Birdneck Road in the Seatack section of Virginia Beach, Virginia where the pastor was Elder Thurlian Burden! The Organists were Deacon Ed Shaw, Evangelist Lillie Cornick, Sister Alice Waller and Superintendent Anthony “Chuck” Olds, Sr. It also reminds me of New Mount Olive “Mon Ollly” 😊 Missionary Baptist Church at 665 Fernwood Farms Road in the Dozier’s Corner section of Chesapeake, Virginia where the pastor was Rev. Willie Davis! Miss Goldie was the organist for Senior Choir! Zion was on fire in those days!
I think y'all use to fellowship with my church. Faith temple cogic elder James e Williams Norfolk VA. R.i.h. I miss those days but I will keep it alive in me. Praise the Lord
Take me back to 1001 E Manchester Ave Challenge of Faith COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. Jessie Founder Missionary Reola Jessie Pastors wife.. Great memories growing up in a holiness church...Rbank you Jesus!!!!
I just heard three other versions of this song, including the version I'm most familiar with from "The Color Purple." And this is how it's supposed to sound. That's what my heart tells me. ♥
Yes that's a sanctified Holiness Baptist Church a lot of Baptist churches are going sanctified now I know of two in Chicago that turn sanctified what a blessing this was my uncle's favorite song he was an apostolic Faith preacher he was the elder and this was one of his songs heaven belonged to you yes yes
@Atldarknight Back in the day Ebenezer was THE sanctified Baptist church in Columbus, OH. Mrs. Brown was the pastors wife and minister of music. Unlike many musicians today. She sat up straight without bouncing and swaying all over the place. She played the devil out of that organ. It tickled me how she would tear the organ up without much facial expression. She could and did work the choirs too for many years.
I love this old church hymn. I remember my mother singing it when I was growing up. The choir use to sing it at our church back then also. Bethpage Presbyterian in Concord, NC. Thanks-MJM-
Man, I'm starving for services like this, :)) you don't see this anymore, a lot of the services I go to are about entertainment. I feel a oneness of purpose here, these folks have gone pentecostal. I grew up on these type of services
I agree what happen to this kind of worship, I stopped going to church, all I heard was the organist is s beast, and they made fun of other musician, when I grew up in church our organist was also a professor at the university, and I never saw him putting anyone down, and he played pipe organ and the Hammond our church had both. He's dead but a great musician and didn't get a lot of money servant of GOD well done.
Sanctified simply means "Set apart" regardless of denomination. Pentecostal churches don't have the monopoly on sanctified. All churches are sanctified if God is the central focus
🙌🙌🙌.. Exactly. As the late Bishop Charles G. Hayes said,"You don't have to leave the Baptist church to be filled with the Holy Ghost." I grew up Baptist in MS and when the Holy Ghost moved He had his way. I'm COGIC now but still have my Baptist moments.
@@Onlyone-m6f but you got to leave the baptist church to be saved because their doctrine is wrong. They have somethings right but they are way off in many other things.
Sad that 7 devils tried to come on here and disrupt things. Be gone Spawn of Satan!!!! If you don't like this don't listen...... This is my family!!!!!

This was when church music actually moved your soul, and not just your hands.
This takes me back to childhood--we need these wonderful old praise choruses--simple statements, profound meaning!

Back in the day, after the singing was over, them musicians would go off to the clapping hands of the saints!!! Ain't NOTHING like Sanctified church!
amen
Yes, this was a blessing! They were actually a Baptist church who were not afraid to exhibit “sanctified” praise!

This took me to church this morning. I love God's people and His presence. I would sooner be in God's house with genuine saints than anywhere.
I LOVE YOU REV. AND MOTHER BROWN!! NEVER A DULL SERVICE! I MISS WHEN CHURCH WAS REALLY CHURCH!!

Oh how I miss those days. Ebenezer always had a firey sanctified devotion service.
I'm glad to have experienced many of them back in the day.
When that tambourine came in!! Yes!!
Hand clapping pierce the ears of the enemy when in the spirit on one accord my God!
The clapping does something to me towards the end my God
this is EVERYTHING.
make me think about those good old days back in the 70s
