Just had the same issue at 430 hrs. I was tilted to the right on a hill and overtemped. Looks like my coolant reservoir was low and sucked air into the system. Since you showed where the bleeder was I cracked it open and started it up. Several minutes of air bled out then straight liquid. The temp dropped down pretty quickly now idling at 2-3 bars again. Thanx for posting. You saved me a big expense my friend!
"Air in the Engine" Means Coolant WASN'T There.. These are known to blow Head gaskets Prematurely.. The "Reeking" is Coolant being burned through Combustion
Some feedback that I hope will help. 1. It is possible to have air in the cooling system that does not come out as soon as you crack the bleeder. You have need to catch some coolant before the air does get purged. 2. Normal operating temp on the X RTVs is three bars. I am not sure how many bars you had when you believed it to be overheating. 3. We have a six year old X1120. Recently, it began to smell like antifreeze while operating it. I could not identify where it was leaking as there were no drips. But on the advice of people on my forum, I traced down and tightened every single cooling system clamp. I ran my hand along the cooling pipe feeling for any wet spots. While I found no drips, a couple of the clamps too a half turn of a nut driver to snug them. No more smell. If the dealer did crack the cooling system bleeder, I'd bet you lunch they did not rinse off the motor and it is probably still covered with coolant spew. 4. Be sure to recheck your coolant reservoir on the unit cools down. It should be on full cold. Should you have to do all this for a unit with seven hours, no. But if you want it fixed and dependable, these are some things to try. Just noticed the date of your post - I imagine by now you have it all figured out by now.
Several things. First, two or three temp bars IS NOT overheating. Second, until the thermostat opens the front hoses will be cool. I have the RTVX 1120 Diesel and also overheated once. I discovered that there are TWO radiators. The one UNDER and BEHIND driver seat is main. It has a debris screen which needs to be clean. Thethermostat opens sending HOT fluid to front radiator and expansion tank. BzTW, your exp. tank level is way low. If you're smellimg coolant there is a leak. Park over a big piece of cardboard to locate leak. Don't give up on the machine, it's a great product.
We have a 2015 with 2800hrs. It’s always been 4-5bars when warmed up. We’ve never even thought it was over heating and it’s never broken down due to an engine problem. Runs like a champ. Ripped CV boots and flat tires are our 2 problems
FYI: Keeping checking the water temperture and " always take notes via video: " You need to put it under a load ( driving up a hill in medium range ). This may sound crazy but, another quick check is the exhaust system ( a 2 person job and only when cold ). Park in netural with the parking brake on, then 1 person will give it full throttle, as the 2nd person carefully feels for the exhaust. It should flow just like your truck or car. ( if the exhaust is plugged, it is like putting a potate in the tail pile ) Note: this can normally happen after 50+hours of usage because the exhaust screen is clogged; however, down here in Florida, I have seen where a " mud dubber " made a nest in the exhaust pipe. This is my quick advise as being a 15year former Kubota Dealership Owner. This Marine always tells the truth. OH YEA !
I had the same problem, on the 3rd thermostat, now. Important to bleed out the air at the port, which takes some time. Also check all hose clamps. That seemed to work for me. It’s a good machine and had it since 2014, but it really makes me second guess the quality of Kubota with an issue like this
I think youre way off. Make sure its full of antifreeze and run it. 2 bars is nothing. Run the crap out of it, gently bleed it while warm after stopping. If your overflow tank is low u will smell af. If its leaking, park it over cardboard and look for a wetspot later on. Kubotas are pretty solid. U can get air in the coolant lines from hose leaks. Eventually the air will bleed out, just make sure its full. Overheating to where the safety kills it is a diff issue.. weve run these engines in generator sets for thousands of hours, do the service, keep it all full and youll be fine! HTH
Question... How is 2 bars too warm? Mine sit's at about half way and stays there, from everything I read, half way (I believe 3 bars) is the normal operating temp. I see this video is 3 years old, could you give an update on your situation? I am curious as I haven't had mine long and so far so good. *Knock on wood!* Hope all ended up going good.
I have a 2012 Kubota rtv 1140. It has run hot since 100 hrs. Kubota has an overheating problem with these machines. I don’t know what the problem is and neither does Kubota, or if they do they won’t tell you. I’ve spent 8k trying to repair mine. It still runs hot. Imho, you should try to get Kubota to take machine back and refund your money. Cut your loses while you can.
Hey So where was antifreeze v cab mount from. Did the problem get solved ? They say coolant has to be checked at radiator and bleed out thru bleeder. It probably has very small leak.
Air in the system. I just had the same thing happen to me with my John Deere Gator. I bled the coolant and flushed it and refilled it. Motor was still getting hot, but the left side of the radiator would not get hot. Thought the thermostat might be sticking, so drained it again and changed the thermostat to a new one. Tested the old one and it was not bad. Put it back together and filled with more fluid. Started back up and got hot again. Fan kicks on, but will not shut off and finally goes into limp mode. Finally bled it with bleed screw, making sure all air got out. Fixed it. Thing runs like a champ now.
It’s not overheating, 3 bars is normal, even higher is OK if it’s hot outside and you have a load on it. Also when it overheats the light will light up and the buzzer will sound, I didn’t see either in your video. Too bad the dealer didn’t show this to you when you bought or when you brought it in to be “fixed”.

I’ll add that ours is a rtv x1100c
@@defcon1742 That's awesome, I have about 5 hrs on my RTV 1100c and am hoping for as good of an experience as you've had. =)

I own 3 of the RTV X series and all of them run 3 bars on the temp gauge. That is not overheating!

What was the problem did you ever find the problem.
Got a 1140 Kubota and it over heats, you can smell the coolant but like you said can’t see any leaks. Same , also the pressure valve won’t close?
Oh, and "The machine cost almost $20,000" lol Fast forward to July 2023 and there more in the $25k - $30k range. lol

@@KeepPrayingCA I'll second that! FJB!
Also check if you thermos-stat is messed up

So any thoughts on it two years later?
Where is the thermostat located.
Did u ever figure out what the issue is
Nope it's been running fine. I guess it just runs hot.
Check under the wheel the coolant hose may have fallen off.
