First night in Almaty | ATM & local SIM details | Kazakhstan Vlog 1

After a delayed flight by half-an-hour I finally stepped on my 4th international soil- Kazakhstan. I did not have any plan for the upcoming days, as I wanted to keep things flexible and go with the flow.
But in any case, without a single Kazakh tenge in pocket and no access to airport wifi, two of the most important tasks that were priority were drawing some cash from an ATM and buying a local SIM for my next seven days in Kazakhstan. I was pretty confident about being able to use my bank cards in Alamty ATMs after doing some serious research. I wasn't wrong with my study.
In this video I have explained step by step process to take out cash from local bank's ATM in Almaty & kazakhstan. This would follow by the process of buying a local SIM in Almaty and what are the charges. As it was quite late at night, airport was my only option for buying a SIM and the only available operator was Beeline. However, later I did realize that Beeline is kind of industry leader here in Almaty.

Hi Sourav. thanks for nice information as you landed in Almaty. Since you are from UAE, can you tell how much the bank in UAE charged you for cash withdrawal in Almaty? how much was the currency conversion rate and bank charges. I am visiting Almaty in July and this will help me to decide if i take USD notes or use ATM to withdraw.

ATM was costly due to additional txn charges. You cannot take out more than 100000KZT in one go.
SO in my opinion, try to estimate your expenses and carry equivalent USD and exchange at a local FX office in Almaty. The one at airport is costlier, so better choose one outside the airport.

ATM use karne k liye per transaction 117 lagta h plus forex charges. So try to use as less no of txn as possible.
