@@user-sl9yz1hk5x I think it will depend on the management change they'll need a man manager to come in and look after the players there as rumoured financial issues. If they get that right I see them ok as three or four teams in this league are frankly no where near good enough if they get it wrong I can see them getting dragged into trouble.

If they can finish 5 th also depends on how good teams like Brighton, Newcastle, Spurs and Villa will be next season. If all of then play good I don't think they will finish 5th.

i don't support Chelsea but think they may surprise a few people. They have a very good manager and some great players. Poch may start slowly but the season is 9 months long and that's plenty of time to get them playing well together.

I really think Rory is trying to compensate for the Haaland shout last season by backing Arsenal this season. Trying to back the young team with good potential, and being out of left field.
But he discounted City once again. That’s a grave mistake. He said not winning, they means City will definitely win it now.

Nah, it's the same thing as him predicting Haaland to not succeed. He wants to seem like some kind of football philosopher so always makes these wild shouts so that if he turns out to be right somehow he'll be the only one who predicted it and can tell everyone else I told you so

As a liverpool fan, we have absolutely no hope finishing in the top 4, the squad is extremely week, 2 senior midfielders which are brand new signings, 1 injury away from complete disaster in defence, and if Alison misses any games at all, the goals will leak, fsg are a disgrace

Not particularly disappointed with the 4th prediction, but I honestly think we could finish anywhere from 2-5 and it wouldn't be too shocking, same with Liverpool and Arsenal. United overperformed on their points last season and got 3rd, so it is conceivable that they get around the same points, but look a lot better overall and finish 4th.
However, I wouldn't be shocked if this team broke 80 points and came 2nd/3rd.
The bare minimum I'd want to see is CL football, improved performances against the bigger sides away from home, and good runs in the cups, ideally, another trophy - FA Cup or League Cup again, UCL would be fun but you need more luck for that, I'd like to see us get to the quarters there too, maybe even the semis with a good draw.
I'd like to say "we should challenge for the league" but i don't think we are QUITE there yet. If Kane came in, and another couple of players then maybe, but I think United needs one more summer to be a complete team.
Have to see though, anything can happen!
United midfield is still an issue, I don't know if they will bring a perfect replacement for casemiro backup cause u all saw what happened last season when he used to be suspended in some games, Varane backup also crucial cause of his injury record so another centre back, and if Hojlund will not step up I don't know who is going to score goals apart from rashford, also it will be interesting to see how Onana performs in the goal, last but not least it will also depend on how mount will adapt as a potential replacement for Eriksen, bt I think liverpool will finish not less than 3rd, United will be left to fight for the 4th position with Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham and maybe Brighton
Spot on, I will say that it is likely that Utd will get 3rd next season. Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Brighton, Villa and Utd have the best tactics in the premier league. Brighton and Villa still don't have the same quality of players to pull off top 4 and Liverpool is undergoing a massive rebuild in the midfield (the most important area of the pitch). That leaves Utd realistically finishing in 3rd again.
The main problem with utd is goals. Your defense is quite good better than liverpools. If you had signed kane then perhaps you could of mounted a title challenge. But i dont see with the signings utd have brought in how their goals record will significantly improve next season. I see utd getting 3rd - 5th the same with liverpool and chelsea imo. Title will be between man city and arsenal
@@applenuts Yes hard to argue with the fact that Utd needed goals last season. That being said, I think Rasmus is a killer signing and will dramatically improve Utd's end product over Wout. Utd were basically playing handicapped the entire of last season, which is why adding a decent striker will guarantee top 4. However, If Ten Hag gets an even marginal increase in output from Utd's wingers and sign 1 more defender and midfielder, they would have the depth and flexibility to be as dangerous as arsenal.

I think Ade's list is more likely accurate than Rory's list. Id love Chelsea to finish 5th or better but 8th sounds about right. Next season might be better but there are too many good teams now and competition is fierce

I don't really get why people got liverpool so high. They made signings(both in midfield(which is good)), but apart from thiago, mac allister and szoboslai in midfield they have no really options maybe harvey elliot and/or trent out of position. I have them 4th and united second, bacause i'm always frustrated with our signings and now they've made the correct ones. Almost everyone was saying, at the start of the transfer window that if united sign a keeper and a striker they almost challenge for the league, they now did that(so they have improved) and people predict them to end lower then they were last season.
Very excited with this PL season. As a united fan, i think we will do well and may we will get top 4 and champions quarter or semi finals. But also i say very excited because of a lot of teams. I think City and Arsenal will give us an amazing tittle race again and honestly i would love to watch arsenal winning this PL. May Liverpool and Chelsea will come back stronger. Anyway i believe Liverpool wont get top 4, i think its gonna be very dificult for them with their departures and their away results they had last season.
I think Aston Villa, Brighton and Newcastle will remain their level or even will rise it.

Liverpool fan here 3rd seem super optimistic, in preseason we can score goals but concede too much, no senior dm is hurting us, I would consider it a success to get into europe next season, 6th or 5th

Chelsea in 3rd isn’t gonna happen unless they sign a striker like osihmen , Kane , Vlahovic and a CDM ( should’ve tried to sign Declan Rice or Tonali when they were available ! ) They also needed a GK like Maignan or Diogo Costa but they signed Sanchez instead !

The last time Arsenal beat City in a league was 2015, the last time they even got a draw was 2017. Arsenal tend to beat City in Cup competitions like the community shield, but it doesn't have any bearing on the league

I think Ade's predictions aren't far off. I still think City are at the top and there are a lot of teams playing for the CL spots. Liverpool will be back this year. I think all of places between 4 and 9 could be changed without too much argument. Tough to call but the top half of the table is really interesting this year. I still back Newcastle to finish top 4 again. We looked great pre season and have added some extra depth and quality to cope with the CL. I can't see us getting too far in that competition yet but I think we'll be strong in the cups and the league.
Absolutely no way Liverpool are finishing above United with no DM and the abysmal defensive depth.

How can you think liverpool have got it horribly wrong and still predict them coming above utd? Liverpool's biggest task this summer was to strengthen their midfield and while they've made two solid additions their midfield has arguably gotten weaker. Lost 4 midfielders, two of which were absolutely crucial members of the squad in hendo and fabinho, and are potentially going into the season without a DM.
Came here after watching the latest Overlap Fan Debate vide, I'd be interested to find out which video was recorded first this, or The Overlap. Rory was clearly taking notes, he quoted word for word what Gary Neville said about the Harry Kane situation, he said the exact same thing Jamie Carragher said about the New Newcastle signings being players they'd get anyway, he then also said the same about the mess Sheffield United are in, in terms of them planning to go down to use the money, he quoated what jamie said about liverpool receiving more money from Hendo and Fabinho and being able to use that towards other players.. please don't think I'm hating btw i love hearing Rory but I find it funny he's quoting other people as his opinion 😄
Here’s why I think Arsenal can win the league. We “bottled” 4th and the next season clinched 4th with 6 games left last season. In that season we “bottled” the league. The same thing that motivated us to clinch 4th easily will help us win the league. The other thing is that we’ve improved our attack and defense to better weather injuries. We were very unlucky with injuries losing Saliba and Tomiyasu at the same time. This year we’ve mitigated that to a large degree.

That I think combined with the Dwight Yorke effect.... City did get weaker and the lack of motivation to go again after constantly winning is real... I'd like to point out that it's happened to PSG where they lose a league inexplicably to Monaco or Lille... Juventus giving up finally to Inter etc...
But it still depends on us to have that hunger and motivation of turning that nearly job done to job done.... just because Man City could lack a bit of motivation does not mean they won't put up 90 points again... we have to do the business.
That's the most generous Rory has ever been to Arsenal. As much as I'd love to see us finally win it come next season, I just don't think we'd be able to catch up again to such monsters like City, it's just not possible.

Last season, I commented a long-winded analysis of the season that captured the stories/issues and how they'd impact the season rankings on this channel's video that surprised me with its accuracy so I figure, why not try again this season. I think I waited until after the transfer window before posting that comment though so... are you going to do an updated prediction after the transfer window closes?
I do not think Liverpool and Chelsea will hit the ground running.
Liverpool's midfield is brand new and they still need a dm.
Even Chelsea they'll need more time, poch can't workout everything in just a preseason, the fans should be patient.

Rory, you are right about Arsenal. They have strengthened their team significantly, and will certainly do better than last season. They are now well placed to rack up 90 points or more. The only thing that can stop them would be a huge run of injuries to key players. Most unlikely given the way Arteta's Arsenal team play.

@@brianngure151 Two points. First Man City never played Jesus in the role given to him by Arteta. Second Arsenal now have several alternative options to Jesus. The most significant of these is Trossard who has already shown that he can score goals when it most matters. With goals coming from so many players I fully expect Arsenal to score more goals than last season. And with their strengthened defence to concede fewer. They are well set to rack up 90 points or more and post a better goals stat.

Mick Harford and Mark Stein were both bought by us from Luton. Both decent strikers in their day
16:53 exactly the same situation with Rory and all the main stream about us and Gary Oniel, everybody that goes week in week out and is actually a fan of the club says it was the best decision to get rid of Gary and get a new manager but according to the main stream he was a miracle worker but the truth is it was absolutely shocking, bottom of almost every stat for the ones you don’t want to be and was a huge help that there was so many bad teams last year.
He did what he was brought for . You made a great appointment and its time for premier league fans to start respecting managers that come from abroad. But at the same time dont say oneil was shocking, he had you playing better than Scottie P who finished 2nd first time of askin
@@nikolasavic1525 a 29% win rate with most goals conceded, most shots faced, fewest shots taken, fewest key passes and lowest possession in the entire league, it was a huge miracle and we are very fortunate there was a lot of struggling teams last year and we got our only results in April against those teams with interim or no managers. 12 games without a win after the World Cup and lost our all of our final 4 games scoring 1. With a full season he will take wolves down

Harry Kane to Bayern makes perfect sense, he wins his first set of trophies (domestic double very likely) and competes for the Champions league, I think Rory can’t wrap his mind around Harry Kane going to Bayern because it’s not a Premier League team as if the Prem is the only league to have world class teams..

you are big time underrating bournemouth. Their recruitment has been fantastic and theyve brought in a top top manager in.
the main thing about chelsea are the injuries. james is just back and not yet fully fit, badiashile is still injured, fofana has a long term injury and now nkunku is also out long term...
it seems to happen every year. other than that i believe they can actually do quite well this year.

Ive been saying all summer we should be in for caicedo and chelsea should be in for lavia. Love both players, but it makes more sense for both clubs with where theyre currently at. News just broke for caicedo and im ecstatic! Not official and definitely and overbuy, but with such a shortage in the dm market i think we were left with no choice. Please just bring in a cb and i genuinely believe we can challenge city and arsenal.

Yes many fantastic young players who will grow to 23/24 and become a top team….but that is 2 or 3 seasons yet.
I’ll stick to 10th to 12th position. Brighton will do well in Europe but I can see them struggling with games every 3 or 4 days. They will be in mid table but that will still be a great season. Burnley will be top 6 as a dark horse!
