I think that a lot of young artists would find it very helpful to learn from someone who is not boring and teaches it in a very unique way. Thank you for your videos, Martina!
Wow!! Just goes to show exactly how technically skilled Martina is!! Using an unfamiliar medium on a canvas that you aren’t comfortable with, yet still producing stunning paintings every time!
I’ve been watching your channel for a couple of years now, and some of your projects just go beyond “wow”. This being one of them! So today I subscribed. I was a bit skeptical at first, with this painting on books idea, because I had the fears you had. But you have made it so that even I would try it on one of my books to see how it turns out! Great job, and wonderful books to paint on!
“I am not good with water colours”… Well, I wish I was that bad at watercolours, let’s put it that way! Just… omgaaaad…. Hogwarts is so beautiful!! I love that Martina lives these series as much as I do and has so much reverence for them also. Did them A++ justice.
They look so amazing! it would look so cool if she did that with either the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus books or the A Court Of Thorns And Roses series.
The paintings immerse you even more into the books and universes in them. It is a whole other experience and I think your family member will enjoy re-reading the books once more.
I think people in the creator space really undersell their skills. "I'm not so good with watercolors" turns into "Hey look I painted something they could sell as a product or special edition nbd". Amazing work Martina
If you do this again, you should try to make it so that each books artwork stands on its own but also works as a piece in the set. For example, draw the final battle scene with 1 person on each book, and the background works as a way to make the pieces cohesive. You have proven you are INCREDIBLY talented so I think it would be something you could do
WTF THIS IS SO FRIGGIN GOOD!!!! HOW?!?! PLEASE SEND ME YOUR ARTISTIC VIBES!! YOU ARE SO TALENTED!! ITS SO GOOD I WANNA CRY!! ITS JUST MAGICAL!!!! Sorry for getting really excited I'm just blown away how incredible this is. One of the best artist on UA-cam!!!!
As much as I love the Hogwarts scene, and there is always something special about the gates to Moria, my favourite has to be the Hobbit hole. Not just because of the drawing itself, Ty also because we can see your growing excitement with the idea of painting the edges of all your books. I’d love to see you do the Wheel of Time series next.
„Watercolours aren‘t my strong suit“ Continues to create the most delicate and beautiful sceneries I especially like the hobbit hole, the cuteness made me gasp!

The sheer improvement between the books is astonishing. The Hobbit definitely looked good, don't get me wrong. But if you had asked me if Hogwarts was made by the same person in a relatively short time span I probably wouldn't have believed you as the level of detail you were able to impart in your depiction of Hogwarts was breathtaking. You can definitely see how you were able to become more comfortable with your tools over the project.
Me and my girlfriend have literally watched your entire catalogue of videos over the last 2-3 days and I'm so excited to get home to watch this one with her :)
Beautiful and unique! Martina, there is also a multiple painting technique. EG, the first painting is tilted like you did in the first book, then you tilt the pages in the opposite direction to paint the second drawing in the same book.
The one downside with having the books in their set boxes with the pages facing you is that taking them out is bit more difficult. Maybe adding a strip of cloth to each box for each book, so that it's easier to pull out by pulling on the cloth would make sense? Or you can upgrade the box itself as well, to make the painting blend even more.. :)
When I first saw the title of the video, my first reaction was "NOOOOOO!!!" XD But, the final products turned out so beautifully!!! You said you're not good with water colour, but the hues and contrast of value and layering was just done so beautifully!!! And the way you used the colour pencils to add more depth and detail was just perfect! And honestly, do I have to pick a favourite? You literally picked all of my favourite books and made masterpieces out of them all! I'm kinda wanting to try that out myself now! Maybe not on my own books, though...maybe some of my books...? Maybe?
It's super cool to see so many *different* things being used with such *diversity.* I've been working on my use of *materials* mostly inspired from *channels* like *yours* and *North of the Border* and so on!
As someone who uses watercolors as their main medium for 10+ years, that is amazing! Especially the Harry Potter ones, you absolutely nailed the lighting! 🤩 I can't even imagine trying to use watercolor on the edge of books, but now I want to try 😂
I would be absolutely thrilled if she painted a scene from my favorite book series: Charlie Bone It is right up her alley in terms of fantasy and action!
I got excited when she said she'd be doing the HP books then got even more hyped when I saw she was going to be painting on the same version of the set that I own ❤ im kind of hoping she does a series of her painting her books. Wishing she'd do the PJO series
I've been reading The Lord of the Rings every few years since the 80's, but the single volume version. It's only been a few years since I found out they'd split it into three books. Still seems strange, but these look stunning.
8:11 it was actually because when Lord Of the rings was being published they had to separate the books to come out spaced apart because it was way too big to publish as one book back then. Tolkien was the one who found the best place to separate each book, and it just so happened that it ended up like that
The Hobbit house painting actually turned out really nice! It gives off studio Ghibli vibes. And the Hogwarts castle reminds me of the skies in Barbie Pegasus.
You are so talented! I love each one! I’ve really liked fantasy for awhile but recently have become obsessed(resulting in me going through your videos). Currently reading the Hobbit and LOTR for the first time after loving the movies. Awesome work 👏
Seeing that Hogwarts one come together from start to finish was amazing. I've never been able to work with water colors but you made it look like Acrylic.
Just seeing how well that glove is working with that articulation- god you’re so talented ! That’s seriously an amazing creation. And the PAINTINGS! Jeez! This is by far my favorite channel
Since the Hobbit is my favourite book out of them (having read that in my childhood in the early 90´s), I always love the hobbit hole motif most. How pleasant and cozy and also adding to the reading atmosphere it must be when you are surrounded by part of the Shire while you are reading, like a frame around the text! I bet this increases the fun, subcounsciously.
First of your videos I've come across and I'm already hooked. You are an awesome artist and I love your personality. Subscribed and will definitely be back for more!
I have seen in other tutorials that they sand the edge down first before they paint it. That might help with some of the things that you talked about in the beginning that made the process harder. Even though you talked about your apprehension and the difficulty you expressed in the beginning, It turned out amazing!!! 🤩
My favorite one, even though it is the smaller and less grand of the 3, is the hobbit painting. I also started this kind of skeptical of house detailed it could get, and seeing that little hobbit hole come to life with so much tiny and cute detail made me want to cry!! It's so soft like a dream, and even when its squished it's cute as hell. I love it so much lol.

Maybe adding a strip of cloth to each box for each book, so that it's easier to pull out by pulling on the cloth would make sense? Or you can upgrade the box itself as well, to make the painting blend even more.. :)
I've been thinking about doing this but I've been terrified to do it 😂 so this video is just what I needed
yeees, go for it!! 😁👏
@@Nerdforge you inspire people in such a fantastic way, much love and respect comin' at you Martina
When I first saw the title of the video, my first reaction was "NOOOOOO!!!" XD
But, the final products turned out so beautifully!!!
Maybe?
You are so talented - I am jealous of your skill! But thank you for sharing your talent with us - these are gorgeous! You did a lovely job on them!!
Thank you so much!
I need an autobiography of this woman! So interesting..so talented..so unique! What shapes a person like Martina?!
Huge trauma with a little bit of support of a loved one maybe...

I would be absolutely thrilled if she painted a scene from my favorite book series: Charlie Bone
It is right up her alley in terms of fantasy and action!
I got excited when she said she'd be doing the HP books then got even more hyped when I saw she was going to be painting on the same version of the set that I own ❤ im kind of hoping she does a series of her painting her books. Wishing she'd do the PJO series
All three are looking so cool, who wouldn't want them as an art piece in their bookshelf?!
Tolkien was the one who found the best place to separate each book, and it just so happened that it ended up like that
Martina: “I’m not used to watercolours”
Also her: *creates masterpieces*
The Hobbit house painting actually turned out really nice! It gives off studio Ghibli vibes. And the Hogwarts castle reminds me of the skies in Barbie Pegasus.
You are so talented! I love each one! I’ve really liked fantasy for awhile but recently have become obsessed(resulting in me going through your videos). Currently reading the Hobbit and LOTR for the first time after loving the movies. Awesome work 👏
Your care for detail, and patience is amazing! All three paintings look incredible!
FINALLY SOMETHING TO PROCRASTINATE TO
😂😂😂 yes happy Friday!
@@OlichkaNesterova is it really happy tho 😞
Agreed!
"I'm not good with watercolors"
Continues to create an epic masterpiece
Since the Hobbit is my favourite book out of them (having read that in my childhood in the early 90´s), I always love the hobbit hole motif most. How pleasant and cozy and also adding to the reading atmosphere it must be when you are surrounded by part of the Shire while you are reading, like a frame around the text! I bet this increases the fun, subcounsciously.
claims she will mess it up with water colour.. ends up with a masterpiece
New NerdForge video = a good day ahead
I love how all of them look they are beautiful and she chose some of the best books out there to do it with
First of your videos I've come across and I'm already hooked. You are an awesome artist and I love your personality. Subscribed and will definitely be back for more!
I will never be tired to be fascinated by your masterpieces.
