I made the pilgrimage to find the flying field, which I did, all the way from New Zealand back in 2019. Flying was all over but great just to say I found Cocklebarrow Farm and feel the spirit of vintage flying in the English countryside. Watch these videos over and over, thank you.

The great sound of old engines with the flying poetry of vintage models. Great old timers!

Gosh, I wish I could have heard that v-twin running at about 7:39mins (I've had a couple of Harleys). I didn't even know such an engine existed. I've seen tandem (front to back stacked), but not a v-twin. That shot is the jewel of the meet as far as I'm concerned. I'm usually interested in the vintage planes you show, but that engine gets the prize. I'm calling it 4 stroke gas because of the wires.

Very nice videos to watch on a windy, rainy day
I hope the nice Hawker biplane survived the crash into the wall

Mostly old guys, mostly in dress pants, reliving their youth, flipping props and fiddling with diesel engines. We don't have many open fields near cities, like that, in US.

Diesels were never as popular here in the USA, though I don’t know why.

@@Slithey7433 Diesel fuel was often not easily available, requires ether and other ingredients that may be hard to get if making your own fuel. Diesel engines required somewhat more fiddling to get running properly than glow engines. Diesel fuel residue has an unpleasant odor that stays on clothing, etc.

Why do they fit the most modern four stroke engines in vintage models?
