My entry for the Unique Vidding Contest One Wish Challenge.
I was between an Emily Thorne (from Revenge) character study with her relationship to her father and this video and decided to go with Walter and Peter. I am dying to make a Revenge video but I realized I was really missing my Bishop boys. Making this video made me realized how little they had in Season 4 compared to the other seasons. Plus Walter doesn't even remember any of this stuff but....another rant for another vid.
Judge's Notes:
If you don't watch Fringe I hope the voiceovers at the beginning sort of explain Walter and Peter's relationship (its actually quite complicated up to this point on the show but I tried to simplify it by using mostly the first 3 seasons)
Basic story: Walter is a scientist who tries to save his son Peter but finds a cure too late and he dies. Later he discovers an alternate universe, parallel to ours, in which Peter is still alive but will die without the cure. So he crosses over the other universe and cures Peter but he cannot bring himself to let go of the son he has now regained. Walter and Peter have a very strained relationship in the future but Peter eventually comes to accept Walter as his father.
I think that Walter Bishop's ultimate wish would be to have his son, his Peter back. Of course now the Peter he has is his son and he is happy but I think deep down there is always a what if? and Walter's would be what if my son had lived and not the alternate Peter?
What's most interesting I think about Walter is that he in essence did get his wish, he finally has a meaningful, loving relationship with his son. But there are a lot of drawbacks to it, including his insanity, the alternate Walter's rage, his wife's suicide, and the disintegration of two universes. So what Walter would really wish for is the chance to go back and save his real son. I tried to show a lot of what makes Walter and Peter's relationship so beautifully complicated and whether or not that complication was worth it.

PS - Also, major spoilers for Fringe. I mean they are 2 years old but if you want to watch this show I suggest you don't watch this because the progression of this story is too incredible to be spoiled for. And really, I think everyone should be watching this show so we can get some more videos on yt! Seriously, there are so many talented Fringe vidders who don't get noticed because they only vid this show and this show is awesome.

The Walter/Peter dynamic is possibly my favorite part of Fringe, and I love how you captured it here. I'd never really thought about Walter having that "what if" regarding his real son, but it just makes it all that much more heartbreaking.
I've actually seen a few of these vids for this competition, but so far, you made my FAVORITE one! None of them have been as emotional or so strong. This video is incredibly strong, not only for your editing talent but also in how forcefully the "wish" was depicted in the video! Again, words fail me. I can't express enough how much I loved this! Thank you for making this!

Hon, this is very beautiful in its portrayal of despair, desperation, love, anger...regret. I think you captured all the emotions Walter has to feel. I'm still a few seasons behind (ugh) but know some basics. I need to catch up so I can watch final season as it airs. One of the best things to me about this show is the relationship between Walter and Peter. It's realistic, I think. I truly believe all the emotions. Lovely editing. Great song, too. What the f'ing hell did I just watch?! Words fail me. That was so amazing! I'm a huge Fringe fan, so it made me cry! First off, the SONG! How perfect! So haunting, beautiful, and the lyrics were on point. I've always loved this song, but it will be forever synonymous with this MV! The color choices were also impactful and the voice overs worked ever so perfectly. But the overall best part was the ending. Everything rewinding/reversing. So fitting! So everything you wanted to say with this video.
I haven't seen the show but I don't know when I'll get around to watching it so I checked this out, and it was really, really good.

Of course, Fringe would not have happened if Walter hadn't stolen Peter from the other Universe, a tear wouldn't have occurred and likely both Peters would have died. Would all the "Fringe" events still have occurred? Would our Walter have gone crazy anyway? Oh, the questions of what ifs, but then we wouldn't have the Fringe we loved.
