I watch a lot of "how to" stuff as I do computer repair professionally. I want you to know that this is THE FINEST repair video I have ever seen. Clear concise language, excellent quality video with perfect angles and lighting, all topics covered very well. Thank you so much! Great Job!
Thank you Dave! We've come a long way since 2011: ua-cam.com/video/R2uz3yEyqWc/v-deo.html
That would have to be the most informative tutorial thet I have seen ever on the web. Well done mate and thank you.
I found this to be an excellent video on the digitiser repair. It was complete and all covered in a timely manner where other video's go on and on and on. Thank you for this and I will add any additional comments necessary after I do the job myself.
Wish I saw this video before I started. Totally jacked up my wifi antenna.
same here lmfao
Thank you! You saved me $142 from my local PC repair!!!! Very easy to follow steps! So proud of myself!!! Thanks!
Your english is impeccable.
Just saved myself €70 by buying the replacement screen and DIY kit. My iPad 2 is working perfectly now with the help of this video - thank you!!!!! It's the third time it's been replaced and I paid €110 for each repair which was madness 😡😡 thanks again 👏🏻👏🏻
my son dropped mine over a year ago and its been severely cracked ever since. This video is great because i was going to take my ipad to the electronic store but now i can do it myself. Shouldn't be too hard seeing that i work with guys in maintenance, they can help me too.
Thanks so much for the video. I was REALLY hesitant to fix my Ipad myself because I have zero skills in the technical department, but your video is VERY easy to understand and I didn't have any problems. Thanks again.
I pulled it off. I about crapped myself when the wifi cable was snapped. the inner part was still glued to the frame so I just taped the outer cover to it. Still works great. The monitor screws were a pain in the butt. Had to buy a new precision screwdriver set. used 1.4 mm flat head on the tight screws and the #00 philips on the rest. Used a hairdryer on the edges to soften the adhesive. All in all this task wasn't really difficult as I feared. Thanks for this video.
Awesome video, I watched it while fixing my own broken screen on my ipad 2 and now its all new and works! Thank you
I really like how the screen you offer has options to come with or without some or all of the tools. I placed my order - hoping it works for me. My kids keep getting glass in their fingers :(
I just used this to replace my Ipad screen, the only advice I have that isnt mentioned is to make sure your battery is dead on your ipad so you dont short out anything when disconnecting any cables. Some people have issues where they short out something and the back light on their ipad stops working. Thanks!
Thanks alot , I literally saved 80 bucks on getting my iPad fixed, I just did it all by myself, thanks to this video.
Thanks for the great video, it helped me tremendously while changing my screen.
saved me a lot of money, I appreciate it.
Just replaced my screen following this video. The video was very accurate. I would like to stress that if your digitizer breaks, you will likely be cut if not careful. I cut myself three times; be sure to take your time. Removing the digitizer took about an hour. Removing the adhesive/broken glass took another hour. The wireless antenna strip is very sensitive and will rip easily. Also note where the volume buttons are before removing the digitizer. So much can go wrong but I managed to succeed.
Very useful. Just wondering if I missed the part where you put back the wifi antenna?
Take it apart, find the flex cable that got ripped, order the cable, remove and replace.
Happened to us too, thats why the "danger zones" are highlighted in this video so prominently.
Good news is that the newer iterations of iPad put more thought into protecting these cables for such situations.
I"m so happy that my iPad is working again and not cutting up my fingertips. Thanks so much.
Thanks - very useful tips and instructions. My iPad is working again after being run over by a car :( The screen was totally shattered into a million pieces. I even managed to push out the dents in the aluminium back.
Re fitting the Home Button is not easy to get right. The positions for the double sided sticky patches in my kit were hard to figure out.
Thanks for taking the time to carry out this repair in such detail. Awesome.
thank you so much your video was perfect except for the part where the digitizer ribbon had to go in, it was hard i had to shove it in
The digitizers we supply now do come with their own adhesive. Makes it much much easier.
you have to push the digitiser cable down while putting the screen down so it doesn't stop the screen going on, and make sure it goes down where it comes from, don't just squash it down, that'l damage it.
very helpful! i put tape over the really badly broken pieces of glass. also have a safe place to put screws!
Yes the ribbon needs to be tucked away under the edge. There should not be any short 180 degree folds (as described above), all excess ribbon should fit under the left edge.
Contact pads... the pins are on the main body right underneath, so closing the digitizer puts the Home Button pads against the pins.
Thank you for video I was able to replace screen and lcd, the putty knife made removing glass easy. I saved $180 bucks doing it myself.
Great suggestion!
Leaving a video playing on a loop until the iPad turns off should be good enough to do that.
However we have to note - be extra patient, and make sure your movements are precise. Look before you act, think before you yank :)
So easy to follow. Very thorough. Thank you so much.
Hi there. Great video!! Is it safe to use a standard hair dryer to heat the adhesive rather than a heat gun? I'm not sure of the output temperate, any advice would be appreciated
Not yet, this can be said of iPhone starting from iPhone4, but not for iPads - these parts are still separate.
Good video, but I never saw you replace the mid frame molding. The old one came off when you took the old digitizer off do you not replace that?
Wi-Fi antenna is not removed during digitizer replacement,
it remains connected with the main body, only separated from the digitizer.
That`s nice,,, I love UA-cam because I learn really good things
This is the BEST instruction given. Thanks so much for sharing =)
I replace my ipad2 screen using ur video. Its abit hard but i did it. Tyanx for video
Admittedly this is the trickiest step. If the edge of your tool is too thick, it maybe a good idea to start with a sharper one like an exact-o-knife or a box cutter. Once inserted the putty knife can be used to continue the repair.
Glass is the digitizer (or rather part of the glass underneath).
If you want to fix the glass (digitizer) then you have to replace it.
Ugh looks like a lot of room for error. Does the OEM Apple digitizer not come with the tape applied? Are you just using normal 3M tape there? I'm not looking forward to this :-(
Yup, you cut the flex cable on the right-top where the volume buttons are... Don't ask how I know ;)
Perfect video .. Talked to me step by step
This was really useful because my dad and I fixed it and it worked
Hey quick question. Do you know if when I replace the Digitizer where the home button is connected to. I oredered a complete digitizer including home button to replace but I'm not sure if the home button is connected to anything and I can't find a vid where this is explained. Can you explain me how that works? Would be great!
Grtz
I did this all except for re adding the adhesive and putting on the glass screen. Everything is properly hooked up but my iPad isn't showing anything on the LCD screen. Did I do some thing wrong?
hahha so sad
Thanks for the video. A couple of things: If your screen is severely fucked like mine was, a heat gun is necessary. Also, the characteristics of the glass make it break into very sharp, pointy shards that will slice the shit out of you. Eye protection: If you are having to remove tiny pieces of glass, I advise wearing safety glasses...
So does the ribbon that gets stuff under the edge (for the digitizer) get folded over when you glue the glass back down. I"m very concerned that there is to much ribbon and it should just curve under but in fact would have to fold between the LCD and glass!
The Wi-Fi antenna lays against the screen. It doesn't go "on the screen" it stays with the main body.
If the Wi-Fi antenna separated WITH the screen…you need a new Wi-Fi antenna…
Its best to review the above video one more time :)
so when you buy a new screen, it has a new digitizer as well, are they are practically one thing??
is the metal camera frame necessary? i've replaced my screen everything is flush and works except the main top, i think the metal camera piece isn't sitting correctly
I have an iPad 2 with a damaged LCD due to being dropped. Surprisingly, the glass and digitizer is not damaged at all, not even a hairline crack. Is it possible to remove the glass and digitizer without damaging it? I need to replace the LCD screen underneath.
Also, your LaptopScreen website indicates your digitizers are not OEM, how accurate is the touch response? Is it as good as the original part, or will I notice a difference between yours? Thanks in advance!
For all technical effects and purposes, the iPad/iPhone digitizers are identical to OEM in specs, composition, materials, elements and performance.
My poer button dosnt work after doing the repair. I am very confident however I am stumped. Any ideas?
Very helpful. I've fixed mine with this video. Thx.
You didn't address how to test if your home button is properly seated. I worry about setting the front glass onto the adhesive and then finding out the home button doesn't work right. How do you insure that's not a problem?
Just like the previous comment what happen to the wi fi antenna were was it place at
do u have to get the digitizer with the home button???
Where did you buy the new digitizer??
It was difficult but i did it.....Thanks for the video :)
How do do you get the putty knife inbetween the plastic and glass it does not work for me and I am using a very hot hair drier
Thnkz i drop my ipad2 & i know what to do now thnkz verry much
So if i need to replace the lcd screen, i need a new digitizer aswell? Cause my digitizer is intact, but the lcd has a nice star in the middle.
warning!!!! this video didnt tell you about the mobile data antenae on capable models located along the top right side next to camera between power button same side as wifi atenae i got to this video after ripping wifi antenae because previous video showed me data antenae at top of tablet and i didnt see wifi antenae and watched this video to late not dissing this video great video i just seen to late and his model 2 is wifi only
ok two questions, has anybody done this successfully after watching this video? and...if i take it apart, is ther a way to tell its working
before i glue/tape the screen back on?
Will this fix the self touching error ? I cracked the screen and repaired it but still same error. Will the LCD help me fix this?
Replacing the LCD will not resolve touch issues - those are related to the digitizer, its cable and the connecting jacks. Examine the jacks and the cable, try replacing the digitizer with another one.
LaptopScreen.com thanks!
+LaptopScreen.com so screen touch errors are due to the digitilizer and not the lcd ?
Is it easy to remove the adhesive off
Nice work, thanks for making the video
All went well with me repairing my iPad. But a corner of my screen won't stay g
Is this what I need to do because my screen cracked
Ha Ha..I was about to break open my ipad when I read the reply about hitting it in the back with a palm slap...and it worked..
my ipad was crmbling so i told my mom to put tape over it. it still works but im trying to not drop it.
saw you just pulled the wifi antenna from the glass, pulled mine apart -_-
Hair dryer is typically less temperature than a heat gun. I'd say it's safer :)
Sir i have to change my ipad mini2 model A1490 so where can find the genuine screen disitiser plss help
what if i dropped my ipad and the glass shattered and the lcd screen is bleeding? how do i fix the bleeding?
well done video, thanks
Very good video, a++
We do make our videos "concise", meaning in reality there's quite a bit of fiddling around than in the actual video.
From our beloved suppliers of course!
HELP PLEASE!!! I removed the broken screen and now I need to remove the four screws... I was able to remove 3 out of 4 but now there last one won't come out!!!Thank you in advance!
+William Tang If the screw is stripped - you can try to use an exact-o-knife to cut a slot into the screw for a flat screwdriver. If that fails you will have to drill the screw out.
I've done everything perfectly, then realised rhat i had out the digitiser in the wrong place. Having corrected their location, I'm now struggling to get them fully down into the little slots and this is whats preventing my touch screen from working.
At present I'd say it's half way in, but won't go in any further! HELP ME PLEASE!!!
Cee Mac Use a screwdriver to straighten out the corners and the edges to fit the digitizer properly.
+LaptopScreen.com I accidentally ripped the digitilizer it is somewhat of a sandwich looking entry the top layer presses the little dots into position(which is the one I accidentally ripped apart), is there something you'd advice me to do ?
+Angel Mata The description of the problem is a little vague. If the functionality is affected (touch not working or working in limited areas of the digitizer) then the only thing to do is to get a new replacement part.
What does the touch feel like when the device is powered on with the digitizer plugged in?
If the touch works evenly across the entire surface of the touch-screen - then you could just assemble the device and glue it shut.
+LaptopScreen.com can you picture the plug in of the screen ? Where you slide in the receiver of information ? Well instead of sliding it out and replacing it with the new one I pulled it out and ripped the top part, (which I believe is just to hold it in) well the top part is ripped, at first the screen will not work(display) so I pressed it down to where it would at least turn on, but the touch screen doesn't work now, I can only see it work but the touch won't work anywhere, I was thinking plying with it would work, but haven't gave it a try... Would you happen to know how it works or if I should just not try it ? I'm sorry, it's hard to give an image through words
+Angel Mata Sounds like you ripped off the video connector securing bracket...maybe?
Shouldn't affect the digitizer though - video connector is separate from the digitizer (touchscreen). If the digitizer connector is also damaged - well it'd be cheaper to replace the entire logic board - than to micro-solder a new connector on (hard to even find a connector like this for soldering). What is the reason for the repair?
(Cracked touch-screen, cracked LCD, both?)
What about the wifi antenna he didnt put it back on the screen
my ipad has "deadspots" what should I replace? dead spot means that I can't use the touch screen on some area of my ipad. i can click on some apps
Josepino Rizal Replace The Digitizer
did not put back the wi fi antenna???
You're thinking iPad 1, in iPad2 Apple removed the mid-frame
Perfect just changed one in about 30 minutes
Good video
He/she is one of the one that down voted the video. I up voted because i successfully changed my iPad 2 touchscreen!!!! Thank you!
iPad, iPad2, iPad3 Screens and Digitizers from $49 in-stock? I just visited the site and everything is $100 and up DID NOT SEE ANY SCREENS AND DIGITIZERS for $49!
Reattach wifi antenna?
the lock screen and home button dont work any more :(
Currently listed: Digitizer = $40, LCD = $70
thanks
If the screen is badly broken cover it in tape so the glass doesn't go everywhere :)
Can you switch from a white screen to a black screen?
Yes, they are identical.
You can find them on Amazon and eBay.
@cliffplayer Yes.
I think the latches on then cable broke
I feel sad that the older gadgets like the ipad 2 are almost unusabe today. I made this video on the best ways to use our old devices. Let me know what you think about it. Thanks.
Anyone that can help me fix/stop my iPad making lines across my screen. My little brother dropped it several times. If you can help me fix my iPad it will be much appreciated
Turn the iPad on its back while holding it and give it a good Palm slap it worked for me
big like to you .
thanks.
